Silme'ranna had been born to the mists and grown up her entire life around moisture so a little rain never bothered her. Her tolerance for rain coupled with the fact that Silme was a rough and tumble kind of girl doubled in her boldness to go out in to the rain with out a second thought. It wasn't like the pride was stationed in the caverns for ever any ways. They still needed to fish for their food and they still needed to patrol the borders to make sure the pride was safe. Who cared if her fur got a little matted from the rain. Silme certainly didn't.

The gray striped moon blooded lioness made her way through the prides silvery sanded beaches until she was proper stationed in the cold angry ocean water. The waves were bad but they weren't the worst the lioness had seen.

"Ha. You gotta do better than that to stop me." She grinned and with a determined kick did the best dolphin like dive a lioness might be able to in to the ocean until she was wadding in the waters and not at the breaking point where waves met shore. A bold move to do on ones own but Silme was one that over estimated her abilities on the regular. Plus, what she wanted was fish and you couldn't catch proper fish from the shore. You had to dive in to the waters after them and if Silme had learned anything from this constant bad weather it was that fish loved to be out in it.

It would be an endurance test from here on out if she would be able to snag a tasty fish. Her claws were already out as she doggy paddled through the rough waters.

Ren stared uncertainly out of the cave and through the rain. He and his companion had chosen to stay indoors for the worst of it, but now he needed to treat on some hide. The scribes were running low on supplies, and unfortunately, the pale lion had drawn the short straw today. It's not like it would take that long, but... it did mean venturing out towards the shore, where the waters still raged from the weather.

With a sigh, the male braced himself and then huffed his way into the rain. He wasn't a terribly huge fan of it himself, but, he thought with an amused glance down, Mangguo was enjoying it.

Indeed, the little jackal was yipping back and forth past his feet, snapping her teeth at random droplets and occasionally shaking out her fur. (she ignored the protests that were thrown her way when doing so ended in Ren's stomach getting soaked)

"How much further until we get there?" she said with a wide-eyed glance up at him. She was still getting used to learning where everything was. The caverns were easy for her now, with how much time they spent in there, but she wanted to explore outside too! She hoped the weather let up soon.

Renshu couldn't say much with the hides currently stuffed into his mouth, but luckily for him, they were relatively close. At least, close enough that the ocean was becoming visible through the mist. He jutted out his head to point, and then hurried forward. The quicker he got this done, the better.

With a cursory glance at Mango, he padded his way to the waters edge and dropped his parcel of fur beside him. He sat down and began working on dipping the first of the hides, casting a worriedly look as the jackal tore past him and dove into the water. "Don't go too far out! The sea is dangerous to be in right now!"

His words were noted, ignored, and filed away to the back of Mangguo's mind. With a happy cheer, she doggy paddled her way up and down each wave, not noticing the very-much-not-a-fish form that was in the waters with her.

The choppy waters were really giving Silme'raana a hard time as she doggy paddled. The sea sprayed her her face and the swell of forming waves clipped her from time to time. Even so, the gray stripped lioness was not about to head to shore. The challenge had been accepted and her mind was made up about the fact she was going to catch something impressive to snack on to maybe rub in Fanya's face and not share.

There were fish that had grouped near shore but they weren't the tasty things Silme had her heart set on so the lioness ignored the schools of fish all the while she kept her eyes opened for something bigger and tastier. Off in the distance she spotted it. A dark shape was headed right towards her and, from the distortion of the waves and weather, the shape looked to be what she was after. Hungrily, the gray striped lioness padded towards the shapes way all the while she adjusted her movements to use the weather to her advantage. With any luck the fish wouldn't notice her until it was too late.

What Silme had spotted was in fact not a fish at all but an adventurous pup in the water.

The jaws theme would have been perfect if it was able to be played like a sound track to a movie or a tv show as Silme approached from the side following behind a swell closely and waiting for the right moment to strike. Her claws were ready as were her teeth and belly. This giant fish was going to make Fanya jealous and taste amazing. This had to happen.

Closer.

Closer still.

Were those two ears? Or fins that looked like ears?

Closer......

The lioness came to a complete stop and sheathed her claws. This was a jackal and not a fish. Her green eyes, now focused, shut in disappointment.

"What are you doing out here in the middle of the storm?" The gray lioness asked paying no mind to the fact she, her self, was out in the middle of the storm. The scribe with pelts on the waters edge had yet to be noticed by Silme as she doggy paddled in the ocean.

The choppy water tossed her about, but the little jackal was mostly just having fun, giggling all the way. It was lucky that her head stayed above water. She didn't even notice the form coming towards her until said lioness was right next to her, speaking in a disappointed tone that went right over Mangguo's head.

With wide eyes, she looked up at the lioness. For a brief moment, she wondered if she should run back to Ren, but this one didn't seem hostile at the moment. So she just smiled, tongue lolling out in a happy pant as she continued paddling in the water.

"I wanted to swim!" She whined, "The caves get boooring and stifling after so much time in them." Then she smiled brightly, "Hello, by the way! I'm Mangguo, and that brown lug is my friend, Ren!" This was said with a paw waved frantically back at Renshu.

Renshu was busy dipping a strip of hide in the water, huffing in frustration when the waves would kick back into his face. Soaking them was never a problem - but you could never do it without getting wet with this type of weather.

With a sigh, the male cast another wary look up at his companion, before doing a double take. Wait a minute... was she talking to someone?! He squinted his eyes and leaned closer. She was hard to see with her blue fur amongst all of the blue, foaming water, but yes, there was someone out there.

He wasn't sure how to process this. Even less so when Mangguo turned back to gesture towards him.

"Just swim?" Silme tilted her head curiously at the jackal for a moment. In this weather she was shocked anyone would want to risk it for just some play but here was the innocence of this pup before her doing just that. Now that she reflected, it was probably true she was guilty of the same thing right now.

"Well... You're pretty brave for being out here during the storm. I guess the both of us are." The swells of the ocean had the lionesses head bobbing up and down.

She continued to paddle while staring at this jackal trying to figure out just where she'd come from when she noticed the lion on the edges of the water. It looked like he was doing some scroll work on hides. Silme watched for a moment while also connecting the dots.

"Are you here with him?" She gestured with her head to the male on the cliff.

Mangguo preened at being called brave, and if the waves weren't preventing it, her tail would have been wagging. See, Ren, she wasn't the only one swimming out here. It wasn't that bad!

The jackal turned her head at Silme's words, before nodding back emphatically, "Yep! He needed to do something or other with some hide." She honestly never kept up with how that worked. "And any excuse to get outside is good enough for me!"

She paused, and then smiled. "Do you want to meet him? Maybe you could coax him into living a little!"

He was still staring with wide eyes at the two out in the water. Perhaps he should call Mangguo back in. He wasn't sure who was out there, and if they were a stranger....

Then again, who would make it this far out in this weather? The only ones around here would have to be fellow pride mates. Which begged to question who this was. Did they need help? No, they didn't look panicked. If anything, they were doing a better job at keeping their head above water than Mango was.

Hm... were they fishing? It seemed strange to him that anyone would do so in such dangerous water, but he had seen fish among the prey that had been brought in. They had to be bringing it in somehow.

Oh crap, were they interrupting her?

Silme looked thoughtful as she padded the rough waters. Did she want to interrupt the male by the shore.

"Do you think he'd be angry with us if we were to give him a little push?" At the edges of her words was a bit of mischief. Causing trouble was still something that Silme had not grown out of. The striped female was a cub in an adults body and that was something she'd never deny.

As if it was a reflex, Silme started to paddle a little closer to shore.

"Come on," She called to the jackal, "Lets see if we can help him," Hopefully the male couldn't hear much of this conversation.

The shore was getting closer now as the silver female could now touch her paws to the sea floor. In a very awkward manner she was able to pull her self up to shore and play off her struggle to get on dry land as if it was on purpose. Silme approached the striped male with a knowing grin.

If her expression of glee was anything to go by, Mangguo was more than up for 'helping him'. "Nah, he'd maybe pout a little, but he won't be mad." At least, he'd never gotten mad at her for giving him a little push, though admittedly those had all been rather innocent pushes to be social.

This was just another way of making friends, right?

Right!

With a happy yip, she started paddling after the lioness, excited to see what would happen, and shook herself vigorously as she got back onto the beach. Ren's hide-thingy was already getting wet, so he was probably just sitting there waiting for it to be done. Or something like that, she didn't quite remember the process he'd explained.

Renshu, meanwhile, couldn't hear what their conversation was about, and all he could do was watch with trepidation as the lioness swam closer to him. As she pushed herself onto the shore, he opened and then closed his mouth, debating if he should ask if she needed help, or if they were bothering her, or just apologize and hightail it out of there...

That last one was sort of tempting, but he didn't want to just leave Mangguo there by herself. What if she needed help? It was still stormy out here, after all.

Shuffling in place, he stared nervously as Silme approached him, "Uhm, hello...." His voice petered off uncertainly.

One last glance was given to the pup before she set her sights on Renshu.

Not much time was wasted for Silme to give the male a grin before she started to barrel towards him fully intending to knock him in the water. This was for his own good after all was how she was going to later logic why she decided to do this in the first place.

Wham!

Contact was made as Silme shoved her entire body at him hoping to knock him over in to the ocean.

((Your choice if this worked or not : D ))
PostPosted: Sun Jul 01, 2018 11:29 pm

Renshu eyed her cautiously as she started making her way towards him, but unfortunately, the split second that he'd taken to move his gaze over to his now beached friend was, of course, the moment she'd chosen to start charging at him. He spun his head back to her when he noticed the sudden movement, but by that point, it was too late. He had enough to widen his eyes... and that was about it.

He would later deny the almost mouse-like squeak he made at being barreled into, or offer as many excuses as he could for why it'd happened, but nothing could mistake the sound as he went flying backwards into an incoming wave. He now knew what the leather he was making felt like.

Of course, Mangguo had run in when he'd made that sound, and watched with jaw gaping as he went flying, torn between the knee-jerk reaction to want to help and, well, the urge to laugh hysterically.

Laughing hysterically won in the end. Especially when he finally resurfaced. His mane was water-logged and flat against his head, his blue eyes were huge and he was sputtering almost unintelligibly back at them, a feat she'd never would have thought possible. He was shy and quiet, but never completely baffled over a situation as he was now.

Oh, this was great.

Not that Ren thought so.

Ignoring the howling laughter off to the side of them, he pouted back at the lioness. "W-what was, why'd you d-do that?"

Silme was right with Mangguo howling in laughter when she knocked the now very surprised male in to the water. There hadn't been much warning for her intentions after all. Fanya would likely disapprove of her actions if he was around to have witnessed the incident. Silme was the louder more immature of the two cubs.

"I'm so sorry," She managed after finishing her laughter, " But .. you were being so lonely up there now you can join us." She offered a smile.

The female backed up a little before sprinting in to a run and jumping back in to the ocean joining Renshu. The stormy waves washed over her head at first but she was quick to get herself back up to a stable paddle through the water.

"See isn't it much less lonely over here and also more fun?"
PostPosted: Thu Jul 05, 2018 11:45 am

He wasn't sure he'd call what he was doing 'lonely', though he was sure Mangguo would beg to differ. Renshu tried to keep up his pout, but he couldn't help the wince as water splashed around them when she dove back in. Of course, he was already soaked, so it really didn't matter that if got even more wet.

Right behind her new friend, Mangguo hopped her way back into the water, yipping happily and swimming circles around Ren. "Yeah, Ren! More fun, more fun!"

Ren snorted at the jackal's chanting, finally cracking a small grin and shaking his head. "I guess.... I'm already wet. Just," he glanced back at the hide sitting in the water, "let me move that onto the shore, so it doesn't get washed awa-"

"Ooo!" The orange jackal was zipping away, "I'll do it!" She didn't want to give him the opportunity to back out. So, nabbing the hide in her teeth, she unceremoniously tossed it threw the air, watching as it landed on the sand with a plop before looking back at the other two with a sparkly-eyed smile.

There was a pause, and then Renshu finally snorted and lifted a paw to cover his face. "Alright, uhm." He turned to look back at Silme, a bit of a bashful look growing on his face, "What... what were you doing? Maybe we can help?" He bit the side of his mouth, "I hope we didn't interrupt whatever you were doing..."

Before she had tacked the male in to the ocean she had not noticed he was holding a hide. Seeing the thing weakly float in the ocean surface gave the striped female a tinge of guilt. Luckily, Mangguo was on the way to rescue the floating hide. Silme could only watch in awe as the little pupper agilely dove in the waters and saved the scroll from the grip of the ocean and its many waves.

Moments later the scroll laid on the silver sands of the beach giving Silme a release of relief. The guilt quickly vanished after the scroll was safely on the beach.

There was a new problem now though and that was that Renshu was apologizing to her.

"What... Why are you.. No no no." She lifted a paw to signal the male to stop. "No no no no no . You are NOT about to apologize when I tackled you in to the ocean. It was hilarious, I know but like you shouldn't be worried about me after I did something like that to you." She grinned. "But if you must know I was trying to catch a snack. If you want to help, with out apologizing, I'd accept your aide. Names Silme.. Your neighborhood Chevalier. "

"Uh, Renshu. My-my name, that is." He withheld introducing Mangguo, as he wasn't sure if she'd already done so, but it was up her alley to do. She might have even introduced him, but it was always polite to do so yourself, in his opinion.

Nodding, the lion gave a shaky smile, "I've never tried fishing myself, but... I'm not opposed to trying." His experience with having to hunt for himself was limited, given that he'd run into this pride early on into his travels. It certainly wouldn't hurt to learn how to catch something though, even if it lived in the sea.

Besides, they had time, and he'd admit that seeing his friend so hyped up was entertaining.

Mangguo was just swimming her way back in time to hear Silme mention fishing. "Ooo, I'd love to fish! Mmmm, fish."

And now she realized how hungry she was. "Can we eat it afterwards?"

Yes! Fishing buds!

"Silme'Rana," Silme offered her own name almost as if it was a reflex in response to Renshu offering his own.

"Well there is only one way to get experience. That is.. We should do some fishing for sure ~" There was a bright smile from the silver lioness. She turned to Mangguo and winked. "Well that is the idea. We should eat what we catch after all."

With that, the fishing challenge began for the three.
