Luck has nothing to do with it, because I have spent many, many hours, countless hours, on the court working for my one moment in time, not knowing when it would come.Judo (柔道 jūdō, meaning "gentle way') was created as a physical, mental and moral pedagogy in Japan, in 1882, by Jigoro Kano (嘉納治五郎). It is generally categorized as a modern martial art which later evolved into a combat and Olympic sport. Its most prominent feature is its competitive element, where the objective is to either throw or takedown an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent with a pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke. Strikes and thrusts by hands and feet as well as weapons defenses are a part of judo, but only in pre-arranged forms (kata, 形) and are not allowed in judo competition or free practice (randori, 乱取り). A judo practitioner is called a judoka. The philosophy and subsequent pedagogy developed for judo became the model for other modern Japanese martial arts that developed from koryū (古流, traditional schools).

There were uniforms along the wall, with the last names of each student stitched on, so students put their things down and changed in the Locker Rooms adjoining the dojo. Once most of the students were ready, he looked around for a familiar face. So far, all new students. It wasn't like it was a bad thing, but he liked to see someone from a previous class to see who liked a variety of classes and not just one type of career path in mind. "We will begin class in 5 minutes, have a light stretch first," he said gently.

Jace kept the charm in his backpack as he used the shadows to get to the fitness center. He scared a guy when he came out of a shadow corner by the door and watched him slam into the person in front of him. "S-sorry" he told him. He didn't look before coming out this time since he didn't want to be late. He noticed the uniforms and grabbed the one with his name going to the locker room to change and pt his bag away. When that was done he walked back into the dojo and looked to Oliver. He smiled at him and bowed his head as he made his way towards where they would be learning and began to stretch.

His torso and arms were much larger than most of the boys in the class so his jacket didn't close properly. He had tied his hair back into a bun so it wasn't in the way, but he still seemed to intimidate the other students. He wasn't some freak, towering giant, he was only 5' 7", but it was his muscle mass that scared them more than anything. Or so he assumed. The last student to come in was a white-haired boy with tattoos and a small build. Once everyone was in uniform and on the mat, Alistair looked around. There were 3 girls in a class of 21 students, so it would be interesting to see them fight the boys head-on.
Everyone bowed on and started going over the basics and were placed in pairs. Alistair was paired with the white-haired boy from before. "My name is Alistair, but you can call me Alfie. Nice to meet you," he said with a bow before they started.

Jace was stretching when Oliver paired them to go over basics and looked to his partner and couldn't help but feel intimidated. They were about the same height. Jace was probably a little taller but Alistair was definitely a lot more muscular then he was. He had a small build and though he didn't have a six pack he was in a pretty good shape. He was glad that he seemed friendly and that at least in Judo it was more about technique though size does seem to matter if it plays to your strengths and not the others. "I am Jace. It's nice to meet you too" he said and bowed in return. He tried to keep his thoughts in check to keep from getting anxious. He looked to Oliver as he waited for any instructions or demonstrations.

These included where to hold from standing and the basic leg swing, which would lead into a simple take-down. He kept it simple so that anyone could follow and did not move on to anything going to the floor until he was positive that everyone was 100% certain of what they were doing. Once he was satisfied, he got the students to begin the leg swing. Until everyone went over break-falls, no one would hit the floor yet. Once this move was done, he got everyone in a circle to go over breakfalls, starting with the back breakfall from the floor, moving up to standing.
"If anyone has any questions or concerns, do let me know before we move on," he stated.

He was aware that he was intimidating, and it was something that kept a lot of people away from him, but he had no choice but to move on. Once they moved to breakfalls, he felt that he was well ahead of the others. He'd done 2 years of MMA and this was something they'd gone over in detail. He would have to use his knowledge to help others around him who were struggling. The girls seemed to be hesitant to really hit the floor, so he had to help them through it, but they thanked him for it. He turned his attention to Jace, wondering how he'd deal with floorwork.
"Do you need any help?" he asked warmly.

Jace paid close attention as Oliver began to demonstrate the basic hold and leg swing. He moved his body slightly as he watched to try and mimic the motions making sure he would get it right. Once they got in the circle he paid close attention again when Oliver moved on to the back breakfall. He wasn't afraid of hitting the floor. That was nothing new to him. Whether it was a shadow creature or a high schooler, he had plenty of experience falling though at least now he would know how not to get hurt doing it. He looked to Alfie when he asked if he need help. "Thanks but I think I got it" he said and offered him a small smiled.

Age: 45 +++++ Major Taught: Forensic Science+++++ Minors Taught: Health, Martial Arts (Karate), Martial Arts (Judo), Robotics +++++ Extra-Curricular Taught: Krav Maga Once everyone had gone through breakfalls and the basic moves, Oliver decided he was ready to see if there were students more familiar with judo to do some sparring. "Alright, if anyone knows how a judo match goes, or feels up for trying their hand at it, please come forward. Just remember, if you get into a hold you can't get out of, or are in pain, tap out," he stated.
Alistair and two other boys stepped forward. Oliver had a file of one of the students, a boy with facial tattoos and what seemed like a permanent scar and a serious juvie record for theft, named Carson. He was unsure of this student, as they had super-strength and used it for intimidation, so he was a high-risk student. Oliver was instructed to see how well he coped with martial arts, both in and out of the classroom, or he would be moved to an Anger Management program. The other boy was tiny and scrawny, able to have premonitions via dreams, so Alistair would have to face Carson.
"Alright, when you two are ready, begin the match. Please, keep it gentle. It's only a basic demonstration match, not a proper competition fight," he begged lightly. Once the boys were in position, he called the match.

One seemed very....off. Something about the bigger one of the two felt very unsettling. Alistair was confident in his skill in judo, even though he hadn't officially done it as a sport and only MMA, but he was still going to go through with the match. Once the two had been called to spar, Alistair moved into a quick hold. What should have been a tap-out from his opponent resulted in two super-punches to the ribs, resulting in Alistair experiencing excruciating pain. Before the smaller boy, Benjie, could tell Oliver that the other boy had cheated and the match needed to be stopped, Alistair had let him go and rolled on to his side.
His ribs were almost pulsating with pain, and his vision was becoming black around the edges. His explosive powers were manifesting against his will and he had no way to stop it without someone with healing abilities coming forward. He had no way to say this though, as everything was too much effort. The building explosive energy was making it's presence known by Alistair's hair standing up on end and the temperature in the room spiking where he was curled into a ball. If he didn't do something now, he risked his explosive energy releasing and destroying the room, causing serious damage and possibly killing those around him.
"Help," is all he could whisper as the floor beneath him rumbled as his energy was nearly at the surface.

Jace wasn't surprised when Alistair volunteered to spar though Carson seemed suspicious to him. There was something off about the whole match. Alistair looked like he was winning but before anyone knew it he was on the floor and looked to be in pain.
Something wasn't right and Jace could feel it. The room started to grow extremely warm. He pushed through the group towards Alfie only to feel the temperature spike even more making him seat and cough with an inability to breathe. He could feel the ground rumble and tried to think of what he could do. All he could think was that he needed to contain this energy as fast as he could. He looked around and seeing an area with shadows he turned to face it. He knew he would scare people but he had no choice. He focused as he closed his eyes and extended his arms to the shadows around the room. He began to make them move and they grew larger as they did. He moved his arm to the ceiling making them break some of the light bulbs as it traveled across the room to Alfie in order to make more for him to manipulate. He opened his eyes, the whites of his eye now pure black and where the color once was was now a shining yellow/white color. Shadows curled around him like smoke and he made a a dome form around Alfie. The ball of darkness engulfed him and he lifted him into the air in hopes that it would reduce any damage. He just hoped that Alfie would be okay. He heard the whispers and the screams as he did what he did. The girls were hiding now and everyone and moved far away from him. He had expected the reaction but now he had to stay focused. He didn't want any creatures to come out and scare everyone even more. And since Alfie was engulfed in the shadow he didn't want to risk using any fear inducement or mental manipulation.

He wasn't going to ask questions because it was too late. His explosive energy released, concealed by the shadow bubble yet some energy still released in what could be described as a shockwave. Students and objects were pushed around, but not by much and nothing was damaged. The temperature in the room went back to normal and silence took hold. Alistair's voice cut through the silence, "before you take the bubble down, I might need another uniform."
One of the girls ran to the locker room and found a spare, all black uniform and walked to the bubble. She folded the uniform in her hands and took a breath, a pink bubble forming around the clothing. She tapped the bubble with her hand and it disappeared. Alistair muttered a quick thank you from within the confines of the bubble. After a minute, he knocked on the wall of the bubble. "Can I come out now?" he sheepishly asked.
