Character Information Name: Gabriel Ventura Nicknames: Gabe, "Gabi", "Franganote" (= Wimp. That guy ended up in the hospital with a broken arm and 3 missing teeth) Age: 20 Date of Birth: October 29th, 1986 (Scorpio) Nationality: Portuguese Height: 6.1 ft Weight: 158 lbs Build: A bit to the thin side Skin Tone: rather pale Eyes: Light blue Hair: Raven black, straight, short and a bit longer on the right side. White patch on the left side as a result of a burn when he was a kid Distinctive Features: Besides his hair, a small cut on the left lip (made by accident with a kitchen knife) Clothing: Black and dark grey clothes, usually sweaters, t-shirts and jeans . Doesn't like wearing tight things or overly baggy stuff. For shoes he either prefers running or tennis shoes, hating any that look "business like" Occupation: Unwilling economy student Skills: Speaks fluently English and understands Spanish Interests: Cryptozoology, Mythology and Symbology Likes: Animals, reading (mostly novels and mythology), internet forums, photography, hunting for seashells, black Dislikes: People, his father, doctors, needles (phobia), anything to do with banking, church Personality: He's basically the son revolted against his father's will, but who refuses to do follow his steps and tries to escape the future he built for him Forced to be around people he loaths and deprived from a more friendly environment since a young age made him really detached from people. He views them as a nuissance, with only very few actually attaining his respect and recognition He hates being in crowds and participating in social events (business meetings, formal dinners, etc) is a pain to him, as he considers the whole situation boring and idiotic and often doesn't care about the topics discussed. Yet his father made him learn how to hide those fealings and become more polite, charming and elequent He has a strong personality and is quite prideful and stubborn, sometimes arrogant, but follows a code of honor. When he means something he will stick to it no matter what... unless he's backstabbed Treason really gets him in his wrong side and he can be quite violent and vengeful in that state. Also invasion of his personnal space and property can get his temper to boil Around friends he's a lot warmer and talkative and can become quite protective over them. Sadly most of them are animals, being Osga, a female gecko he raised from an egg, the closest one

Primary Choice: Manticore Serum: Serum 75 + serum 65 Species: Human (the subject), Lion (Panthera leo), Scorpion (Leiurus quinquestriatus), Shark (Prionace glauca) and Bloodred Corn Snake (Pantherophis guttatus) Description: the body of a red lion, the face and ears of a blue eyes human and a tail ending in a sting like that of a scorpion. The mouth contains three rows of teeth and poisoned spines along the tail could be shot, like arrows in any direction. The manticore was also attributed with having a voice that was the mixture of pipes and a trumpet. The beast is very swift and makes very powerful leaps Location: The manticore is reputed to roam in the jungles of Asia, especially in Indonesia, Malaysia and India Diet: Humans. Upon an encounter with one, the manticore fires a volley of darts at the victim, who dies immediately. This unfortunate person is devoured completely, even the bones and clothing, as well as the possessions this person carried, vanish. When a villager has completely disappeared, this is considered proof of the presence of a manticore Other: Like its cousin, the Sphinx, it would often challenge its prey with riddles before killing Origin: The earliest accounts seem to be from Persian legend. The name itself is from the Old Persian martikhoras meaning 'man-eater'. The earliest accounts of the existence of the manticore come from the Persian courts in the fifth century B.C., documented by Ctesias, a Greek physician at the Persian court. Greek and Roman authors (Aristotle, Pliny) described the beast the same way the Persians had Symbol: In the middle ages, the manticore was the emblem for the prophet Jeremhia because the manticore lives in the depths of the earth and Jeremiah had been thrown into a dung pit. At the same time, the manticore became the symbol of tyranny, disparagement and envy, and ultimately the embodiment of evil. As late as the 1930s it was still considered by the peasants of Spain, to be a beast of ill omen Reality: most likely an exaggerated description of the man-eating tiger Useful Links: http://monsters.monstrous.com/manticore.htmhttp://www.eaudrey.com/myth/manticore.htmhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manticorehttp://www.americanmonsters.com/monsters/hyrbid/index.php?detail=article&idarticle=102http://users.vianet.ca/~grizelda/fur/m-art.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/eurekatv/wild_roaringcats.shtmlReference Images:x, x, x, x, x, x, x

Secondary Choice: Raptor Serum: Serum 100 Specie: Deinonychus antirrhopus Anatomy: It was a lightly built, fast-moving (25mph), agile, bipedal, bird-like dinosaur built to kill. This meat-eater had a curved, flexible neck and a big head with sharp, serrated teeth in very powerful jaws. Each of its three fingers on each hand had large, sharp, curved claws. It had four-toed feet; the second toe had a 5 inch sickle-like claw, and the other toes had smaller claws. Its long tail had bony rods running along the spine, giving it rigidity; the tail was used for balance and fast turning ability. It had a relatively large brain and large, keen eyes. Its bones were hollow and his skull light built thanks to those holes Size: It was about 10 feet long, 5 feet tall, and weighed up to 175 pounds. This dinosaur was roughly 4 ft tall at the shoulder Diet: Carnivorous. It probably ate just about anything it could slash and tear apart. When hunting in packs, it could probably kill any prey it desired Behaviour: It may have hunted in packs, attacking even very large animals, perhaps even large sauropods and ankylosaurids. Tenontosaurus may have been among its prey; it was an unarmored but fast hypsilophodontid whose fossils have been found near Deinonychus fossils. Marks on the bones of its prey show it fed its young Intelligence: along with the other dromaeosaurids, it was among the smartest of the dinosaurs, as calculated from their brain:body weight ratio. This made them very deadly predators Period: Early Cretaceous, about 110 to 100 million years ago Fossils: Montana, Utah, and Wyoming, USA. More than 8 skeletons (some articulated) and skulls Useful Links: http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/dinosaurs/dinos/Deinonychus.shtmlhttp://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/diapsids/saurischia/dromaeosauridae.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deinonychushttp://www.duiops.net/dinos/deinonychus.htmlhttp://yahooligans.yahoo.com/content/science/dinosaurs/dino_card/94.htmlReference Images:x, x, x, x, x, x, x

Changes
Manticore: His face will lenghten to support a bigger jaw and his mouth will widen, giving him a permanent grin, even with his mouth closed. The 3 rows of teeth are turned inwards and will replace the human ones, although strangely the back ones mimic molars, alowing him to chew His nose will lengthen with the face, becoming more cat shaped and sensitive. The scent of blood will become quite pleasing His eyes will still be blue, but with barely any white visible, and become more sensitive, his puplis small dots during the day His hears will round and move up the head a bit, being quite mobile The hair will grow down the neck, turning into a short mane. The white patch of hair won't fade away with the changes The body, and below, will grow a short red fur The arms and legs will become more powerful, with a more limited range of angles. Also he won't be able to keep a biped position for very long, being more confortable to walk on all fours The hands will still be quite mobile, but the fingers will shorten and thick a bit and be fully clawed The feet will be lion like, but the footpad will be a bit longer, able to mantain the body weight for small periods of time The tail starts as lion type, but soon it becomes more scorpion like, with fur covering the first quarter of it. The tip ends in the characteristic scorpion stinger
Mentally having so many instincts to struggle with will leave Gabe particularly unbalanced. In some occasions he'll be himself, but certain things like the smell of blood can trigger a nasty reaction Isolation, self-injury, delusions and angry outburts followed by a need of company will probably happen
Raptor: All the teeth will change to the dagger-shaped ones raptors have, making him unable to chew. The jaw won't be able to move sideways either The nose will push foward, molding completely the rest of the face to a reptilian-bird like look The eyes will turn green and cat shaped, still possessing slits. Being located in the sides of the head, he'll have to focus with just one to have a good view of the object The hair will be completely gone, replaced by feathers. The white patch will be gone as well The neck will be longer and sinuous, with strong muscles to support it The whole body will be covered by a soft plumage, metalic black in most areas (like a black rooster's tail feathers). Only the face, fingers and the lower part of the legs are scaly The arms will be a bit shorter and have a row of more rigid feathers along them The fingers will be longer with curvy claws, only having 4 digits in both hands, the forth one really small compared to the others The legs will be built for running and jumping, capable to produce more impulse than ever before The feet will be completely raptor like, the small little finger disapearing, the toe becoming a small claw and the second finger growing into the famous larger one The tail will be long but not as rigid as the original raptor. It will allow him to keep his balance while running, but being more flexible it will bend enough to keep a vertical position
Mentally Gabe will become more "predatorial" and stealther. Depending on the relation he builds with the others he might try to be part of a pack and engage hunts together. If not he'll probably hide in the jungle and ambush any potential prey
Scorpion: The teeth will merge with the flesh to create the pinchers used for "chewing food" The face will be pushed foward, being the front part mostly occupied by the mouth, while the skull will flatten The eyes will move to the sides and several more will appear, by the side of the original ones and on the top of the head. The vision will weak and become sensitive to the light, having to depend more on other senses The hair will completely disapear but the white patch will remain, being two white dots on the top of the head The arms will strech out and get segmented, while the hands merge and form the pinchers The legs will probably split in two, with two extra ones forming from the sides of the belly. To keep a bipedal position 2-3 pairs of legs will be used to support the weight. Also they'll be used to detect vibration and motion The body will soften and be covered by the hard shell, becoming longer as it forms the tail The tail is splitted in several segments, the whole set long enough to arch over the head
Mentally he will be a lot more edgy around people, as this transformation is particularly strange and he will feel a lot more vulnerable with the "normal" senses diminished

Reasons
Why Gabe? First reason was because Sabin made me bring one of my old characters back to life by accident, one I barely remembered and really hated. And to make it worse he stolen the appearence of another of my old characters, one that was a lot nicer than him. Seemed fitting to use him as a subject twisted Second because he'll be a challenge to rp. His personality is completely different from my own and he's a lot more "extreme" than I am
Why a Manticore? Actually that idea came from a random discussion on the forum. I don't know but it seem to fit him perfectly IC it will be quite interesting to see his natural aggressiveness be taken to a higher level. Despite spending a great part of his life surrounded by animals he never had the will to kill, even against his father. Unlike other animals, becoming a manticore will dispose him of all humanity, with so many instincts to fight at the same time and most urging for the same Also it would be quite ironic for him to turn into a mythical-creature, specially one so feared Note: If Moreau comes with a solution to the mental problem, Gabe won't suffer as much instinct conflits. But he will still jump and attack if he's triggered
Why a Raptor? Because they're so cool and deadly. I liked them even before Jurassic Park came out whee I think Gabe is a good match for a raptor serum, at least in the perspective I have of them, of fast, smart, well organized and deadly predators Scientifically it would be interesting for Moreau to experiment and find out how related they really were to birds. And I choosed a Deinonychus because there's a good number of skelletons found (as far as raptors go) and would be easier for Moreau to get a better DNA sample to build the serum
Why a Scorpion? Because they're fascinating and ancient creatures. And they have a strong symbology IC it would be a transformation that would really spook Gabe, but physically mostly. Also the stinger would trigger his needle phobia (it wouldn't be so visible in the manticore, since the mental changes will be a lot stronger. Plus the scorpion the stinger will be directly aiming to himself xd ) As for why I choosed this specie of scorpion in particular, they're easy to get and aren't very poisonous, but look quite threatning
