Red was grumpy. Not that that was an especially odd occurrence. But this time it wasn't because of anything that happened with one of his classmates, or one of the teachers reprimanding him. This time it was simply because aside from the brief instance of seeing those grimm from the lost clan invading the school, he'd not seen fur or fang of them. How was he supposed to go with them if he couldn't find them?
Huffing, tail twitching and little paws stomping the ground to show his irritation, Red went to one of the little areas between buildings that was mostly a path between the two with a little bit of decoration along the sides. He couldn't wander too far from the freshling area, he'd been scolded for that already, but he didn't want to go to the playground where there would be so many other stupid freshlings that he would have to deal with. So he'd found this little corner that most nightmares didn't seem to bother with. There was a small bench, a little bit of a garden, and the path that connected the two buildings from the two. Occasionally he'd see a nightmare hurry through, but as long as he was quiet and still, nobody seemed to notice him. Or at least, notice him enough that they ousted him from this spot.

Kinley had been bored coloring so he went outside to play. He looked around but couldn't see Jacie so he looked back into the classroom to see him reading. Lameeeee! He had come outside to play with him, oh well. Looking around more, he noticed how crowded it was. It didn't surprise him at all though since it was a pretty nice day. He backed away from the group, considering escaping from the freshling area to get some food from the cafeteria. He turned to head to the bench by the garden so he could leave, suddenly stopping as he almost ran another grimm over. "Oh! Sorry! I don't normally see anyone here!" He apologized, cocking his head to the side. He sure looked grumpy, he wondered if he could make him smile. "Don't like the crowd either?" He asked him.

Red watched the other grimm approach, a scowl deepening when it was clear that he wasn't paying attention. He'd already sat down, so it would be the other kids' fault if they got into a fight because he ran him over. Just as he was about to get up and shove him to the side, he turned around and caught sight of him. He growled, just a bit, crossing his arms and then looking away. "Yeah, normally I'm the only one who uses this area. Finder's Keepers. So buzz off!" He settled more firmly into the bench, suggesting he wasn't going to leave. Hopefully the other freshling would get the message and go on to wherever it was they were heading in the first place.

Kinley blinked as he grumped at him, "That's nice. So you come here often? It's really nice so I can understand why you would like it here." He told him, moving onto the bench to climb over then fence. Once his feet hit the ground on the other side of the fence, he brushed himself off. He thought of what he wanted to snack on in the cafeteria. Maybe fish or oooh maybe if they have some pot pie left. His stomach growled some, looking around and noticing that the other hadn't joined him yet like he assumed he would. He sure seemed the rebellious kinda grimm. He poked his head above the fence, "Hello, are you coming? I can't wait forever! I'll get caught! Come on!" He told him

Well it worked. Kind of. Red watched as he clambered up onto the bench and then over the fence behind it. He thought that'd be the last of it, but then the other kid just popped his head right over the fence to ask if he wanted to come along. Like that was even a question. Considering someone else was coming this way anyway, he stood up and scrambled over as well. At this point, he could just say he was following to make sure this other kid didn't get into trouble. "I'm not doing this cuz you told me to!" he fervently whispered. "Where are you even going anyway?" he grumped.

Kinley smiled as he watched the other follow after him, "okay! Don't worry! If we get caught... I'll make sure they know it was my fault." He told him, "come on!" He said with a mischievous grin as he stealthily made his way towards the place with food. "Oh, yeah... Sorry. The cafeteria. I'm starving and no cracker is gonna help me!" He growled some, stupid nasty crackers!
As they got closer, kinley tried to be careful. "Okay, over this way." He coaxed, obvious that he has done this a lot. Sneaking into the back, kinley grabbed a bag and started shoveling cookies and other various foods into it. He looked around to make sure no one was back there

Red's stomach let out a growl of it's own when their destination was revealed. He kept as quiet as he could, trailing behind the other grimm. "Cafeteria? I'm in." His tail flicked back and forth, especially as they got closer. Red hadn't gotten far enough yet on his own to sneak stuff from the cafeteria, but clearly this grimm knew what he was doing. They got in with none the wiser. Baring his teeth in a grin, Red snuck over to where the drinks were. There were a bunch to chose from, so he ended up grabbing a handful and rushing back over to where his new buddy were. He kept an eye out, ducking to one side when it sounded like someone was gonna come in. When they didn't, he let out a sigh of relief. "I got some drinks," he murmured, ears flicking around to catch any sudden noises. This once he would share, if only because it made sense for one of them to carry the food and the other freshling had already grabbed a bunch. "You done yet?"

Kinley finished filling a bag with all sorta or goodies; candy, baked good, snacks and thank God for chicken nuggets. He smirked widely as he tied the bag off, seeing red head back. Nice! He got some drinks too! Kinley never had enough hands to grab a drink as well so he'd call this a job well done... Well, unless they got caught. He quickly moved to red, "yeah, let's go." He whispered, leading him the safe way out of there then moving towards his favorite spot.
As they reached the garden, kinley moves one of the bushes aside and let red enter first before he followed him into a little sucluded area. There were flowers and grass; clearly it had barely been tampered with. "I'd call our cafeteria run a success!" He declared, sitting down with a smile. "I'm Kinley, by the way." He introduced, opening the bag to pull out napkins. He then worked on splitting up the food, giving red the larger portions.

Red returned the grin, tucking the drinks out of sight as he followed along. It was even better when he lead him towards the garden. Most of the time when the caretakers came to look for him, they wandered the halls. He didn't spend much time here on purpose. Now, it was useful because they wouldn't check here first for the two of them. He hoped at least. For all he knew, his new friend was found here regularly. But, the sight of the clearing had him grinning.
Crawling in, he scooted far enough over to leave room for Kinley. Watching him pull out the food, Red felt his tail wagging and saliva collected in his mouth. He'd grabbed a lot more than Red had expected. "Red," he replied. "Why're you doing that?" he asked, pointing to the difference in what they were getting. Not that he was complaining, since he was getting more, but if he'd been dividing it up, he would have given himself more since he'd grabbed the food for them. Belatedly, he started setting all the drinks within range of the both of them. Orange juice, milk, three different kinds of soda, some water, some sort of weird bottled thing he wasn't sure was an actual drink but had grabbed it anyway, a couple other kinds of juice, including apple, which he kept to himself, all were set within grabbing range of the both of them.

Kinley tried to think of what red was referring to, it only took a moment. "Oh. You are my friend... So I wanna make sure you are well fed!" He told him, noting his name. "Do you live here at the academy?" He asked as he reached to grab one of the juices. Red sure grabbed a bunch of drinks and clearly he liked the apple juice the most. "You like apples?" He asked, eating some of his half of the snacks.
He was curious where red was from, though he assumed he was from here too. After all, most were. Even kinley started off here till mink adopted him. He smiled to red, "glad you are my friend." He told him, digging through the bad and pulling out an apple. He handed it to red, "for you."

"Friend?" Red was taken aback. Nobody called him a friend. Should he contest that? "Don't need friends. Pack," he offered instead, facing away, but looking at him from the corner of his eye to see how Kinley took that. Red picked up one of the apple juices he'd kept for himself, opening it after a few moments of struggle. "Apples are my favorite," he said, his eyes closing in pleasure as he drank some.
"N-ooo?" Red's tone was as unsure as he was if he counted as 'living' here. He stayed here a lot, but he had a home outside of it. Even if he wasn't allowed to go there by himself. "I'm stuck here as punishment til I get better." He said the words matter of factly, as if they didn't bother him. (They very much did.)
His eyes lit up, tail wagging, as Kinley held out the apple. Eagerly accepting it, he took a big bite immediately. Glancing about, he tried to think of what he could give back. Nothing good came to him, so he scooted closer to Kinley, leaning against him and giving him a one handed hug. "Thanks!" he replied as soon as his mouth was full. "What about you, you live here?" He asked as he scooted back to where he was before.

Kinley cocked his head some at his comment for a pack, he technically was part of his mom's pack... was he allowed to add anyone? Then again, his friend Jacie told him that he was also in the other's pack. At the comment of apples being a favorite, he smiled. The young grimm had figured that out when Red confiscated the apple juice, not that he was bothered at all by it since he wasn't an overly picky person. Kinley nibbled at some of the food as he listened to Red talk to him, trying to take in everything that he was discussing with him.
He smiled when he watched Red happily accept the apple and even give him a little hug for it. He knew that Red wasn't as mean as he shows, he just needed someone to look past that. When Red was done talking and asked him a questions, Kinley smiled to him. "Well, you can join Jacie and my pack or.. you can join my mom's pack." He offered, setting his food down. " I am happy you like apples, they are super good for you and pretty easy to come by so it should be easy to make you happy." He grinned to him, "Well for whatever reasons you are here, I am happy I ran.. well almost ran into you today." He looked over to the other grimm, "I think we are going to be really good friends." He added then shaking his head. "I don't live here, I live with my mom and my brother. My mama is our packs Alpha so she is pretty busy. She adopted me when the grimms and nixies came to the school." He explained, "Oh, you might know her? Her name is Mink." He added.

Red scoffed, "No, I'm the leader, so you're in my pack." Didn't matter that Kinley had been the one leading them around, that was only because Red hadn't known what they were doing. No, he wanted Kinley to join his pack so that he could have the practice for when he was Alpha of a big pack. Grabbing a couple of the pastry looking things, he took a big bite. He definitely wouldn't mind getting more apples, but he didn't want Kinley to think that it was that simple to get on his good side.
"Mink?" Red thought the name sounded familiar. "What's she look like?" He had heard about Mink back when the school was all crazy about the new grimms. Could that be the Alpha of that pack? His tail started to softly wag, and he looked much more interested in Kinley.

Kinley raised a brow, "But.. I am already in two packs... I gotta be in my mom's since she is alpha of the grimms that came from the nixie colony." He explained, "So.. you can be in Jacie and my pack." He told him, digging through the bag and pulling out the last apple. It looked really good but Red liked them so much so he sat it with the other's pile of food. He then ate some of the cookies, savoring their taste as he slowly ate them. When he went to eat the next one, he took a bite then stopped dead in his tracks. "Ick! Raisin!" He growled, tossing it into the bushes. "I hate it when they make the raisins look like chocolate chips!" He huffed, moving to cautiously eat the next cookie.
When Red asked what his mom looked like, he slid his hand into his pocket and pulled out his little wallet. Opening it, he pulled out a picture of him and Mink." This is my mom and I before my brother was born." He explained, handing it to Red. "She is amazing and I wanna be just like her. I dunno if I will every get to lead the pack though, I don't think I will every be ready for that... But who knows!" He smiled.
