The Vortex Tower functions as the official gateway and entrance into Uzushiogakure. Reaching down from a bridge towards the front of the Gully it eventually fans out into a docking area. Along the rise up the tower are several checkpoints with guards and customs officials.

Stumbling, tripping, falling-- everything hurt. She had been wandering for so long she had forgotten what it felt like to be surrounded by people. It reminded her of a simpler time, and it only made the exhaustion worse. Her thoughts scattered as the thought back-- her, taylor, and Nari all relaxing around the dinner table; Nari had made her favorite again, and it was Taylor's first time eating it... She could remember the warmth, the feeling of home... in till she ran straight in to the wall of the tower. Stumbling back from the impact, the slightly delirious Sonyo shook her head. She was almost there, almost to where she had to be. A guard looked at her weird, and she cleared her throat, shakily taking out a paper from her pocket.
The paper was old, slightly over five years. It was worn in creases where it had been folded and unfolded many times over. She held it up to the guard, an old summons contracted by Sanae. "I-I know this is old and from a village that no longer exists b-but I thought it would at least have some importance. M-My name's Sonyo Rue, I-I'm a former shinobi of Sungakure, and I received a s-summons some years back from Lady Uzukage Sanae... I was wondering if I could be g-granted entrance so that I can finally make good on it." Her muscles were tense, she didn't know what to expect. Would they brush her off, would she be wanted for desertion, for running of with a Bijuu? She wanted to be optimistic but she had been taught not to be.
And what would she do if they didn't believe her, if she had been marked as KIA? What would she do if she couldn't get to Kya, to anyone? She could go to the Storm, try to find shelter there.. she would have to stop to rest and hunt first, it could take weeks or months to finally make her way back... And she would be amongst unfamiliar faces, she would be alone again. She couldn't be alone again, she had enough of being alone, had enough of hearing only the shukaku in the dark of night.
She missed simple. She missed people. She missed Kya.

There were guards, as one would expect, who awaited the arrival of any and all travelers to the village. A customs agent was there as well, secretly a member of the Vortex group, but that was neither here nor there. That was honestly the point, of course, but upon seeing the girl so worn and tired, weary from travel it became clear that he was also a feeling individual as he walked over to her. He took the paper from her, after listening to what she had said. That name... the hadnwriting and signature. This was her? "Wait here," he would say walking around a corner and forming a quick seal to shunshin away. Time would pass slowly, agnoizingly for the girl more likely than not in her condition. It was all they could do to make sure she was accommodated, bringing her water, not wanting the girl to fall over. If she took it was up to her, but there was a whole village of distance to travel.
Then, the water seemed to shift a bit before a figure burst out of it, spinning a bit more majestically than was necessary as she landed in gracefully, not as wet as she should have been but still, for all intents and purposes drenched. She cleared strands of white, ashen hair from her face, her bloodred necklace dripping down her bust, water running down around her bare feet. Stark red eyes administered the woman. "As I live and breathe," Kya barely spoke, exhaling the words as she approached Sonyo. An azure bracelet jinglged against charms hanging from her wrist, a sea green necklace made of a seashell in one ear with a simple series of hoops in the other all combined to make a much different woman that Sonyo had last seen. The color of her eyes shifted back to their new normal, yellow irises and black lines down the middle like a serpent's. Green lines traced down from her eyes over her cheeks as if they would run off her face entirely. A boat docked behind her, men wearing only blue pants but adorned with gold and snake motifs all over their outfits coming up behind her. They approached behind her as Kya went to embrace Sonyo in her arms. "I searched for you for so long... we thought the worst..." Kya admitted squeezing her friend. She would let go, the men stopping behind her, one of them holding a staff with the symbol of Nagakaborous adorning it. These were a part of her entourage, clearly. "You look like hammered s**t, Child of the Green. Come with me, we'll get you cleaned up and fed, then we can get to scolding you." Kya held out a hand to the girl, hoping she would take it and come with her into the village. She would waive off the guards, already having spoken to the customs people on her way in before she'd leaped from the boat and swam the rest of the way to the gate.

The woman that appeared to her was a stranger, yet familiar. The way that she greeted her... this was Kya? How much had changed while she was gone? Gripping the worn sleeves of her shrine maiden outfit, Sonyo softly hugged her friend back. All she could do is manage a weak laughter as she followed the white haired woman towards the boat. "Scolding... Yeah, that would probably be what I need. But after everything, I..." The young woman's eyes darted downwards, her hands gripping her sleeves tighter. "He's gone, Shinigami. Everything happened at once, it felt like everything was thrown in to a blender. I'm sorry... I know my actions were... reckless."
Kya's enterouge made her nervous, loyalty was dangerous, and these people seemed serious. Her eyes darted up at them only once, taking in the spears. They sure were pointy, She wondered how fast she could move in this situation; the exhaustion, the dehydration-- Sonyo took a deep breath, forcing the thoughts to a screeching halt. She was with a friend, in a friendly village. She didn't need these thoughts, not now. Shukaku chuckled in her head, amused at her paranoia. Tanuki b*****d, she thought, keeping close to Kya.

į Kya was not unawares of the feelings being betrayed in the serious faces of her attendants, such as they were acting anyway. In truth, the two were a pair of Kya's closest disciples whom had came to see the one whom Kya had searched so tirelessly for. The relief washing over Kya was clear as she helped the Evergreen into the boat, taking a seat beside her and weaving her own soft fingers into her friend's to hold. She stroked the back of her hand, soft brown eyes like beads of chocolate peering over the soft, smooth skin of Sonyo's face. "Still you heart, girl. You're safe and sound now." She took a deep breath as her men began rowing against the stream, back up towards the temple.
"I am sorry about Nariomi. His was a bright light in the world that will be missed. But we are still here, and we most continue to move as the Mother demands. It's what he would have wanted, too, I think." Kya spoke. "But there is a lot I need to tell you, priestess. So much has happened in such a short time. I will fill you in once we've arrived. For now... welcome to Uzushiogakure." Sooner than later, Kya would need to inform San that the host of Shukakku had arrived. That stood as a backseat concern, however, to getting the girl situated. She would bare the brunt of Sanae's wrath later if it came.

There was no place better than the gate, although while a bothersome gate that forcibly stood between Sadayo and the outside world, and stood as a means of comfort to some minimal degree. She had been on this island for a time, already, and nothing about this place had brought her much pleasure. Why, even the Caldera was a powdery pink nightmare so opposite to the flora of her homeland that it's splender couldn't impress Sadayo for more than a first visit. At the gate, typically, Sadayo did not want to be seen. She could see others but preferably she would not want them to see her. Yet, guards kept Sadayo under close tabs during her lingering visits. As an outsider, even a refugee, she was still approached with inquiry from the border guards for her frequent presence. Homesickness. Well, even the excuse of homesickness will wear off after the first several times for a refugee. She wasn't readily allowed anymore to catch a glimpse of the outside but allowed to wait and watch for any familiar faces to pass through.
Some familiar faces did pass through, seeking safe haven, but none to make her spring to her feet. Maybe one or two will pass through somewhere but a group sighting of civilians who found their way was becoming infrequent on her watches and a group sighting of sand shinobi passing through was a utter rarity. .Sadayo was perched somewhere underneath a cast shadow. Her chin to her knees. A doleful gaze downward at the currents and the daydream of being swept away by them. This was Sadayo's preferred way of simply being out of the way in a settlement that seemed to be in her way.
A meager figure who had apparently entered the gates at some point and promptly greeted by who-knows-who was made out slowly as someone she once knew. Someone she hadn't seen in a while. Someone she thought lost and was never offered any farewells or condolences. The list of names in Sadayo's head composed of many who she would feel she will never see again after that roaring conflict. Sonyo was one of one them. The list tucked away in her thoughts had another name crossed off its list.
Sadayo watched quietly as the girl waved what could have been a slip of paper before the group which greeted her. The puppeteer concluded the paper could have been anything and anything could lead all the way up to her. Ultimately, Sadayo relaxed her neck and moved her head to press a knee into her cheek as the thought of her own slip of paper worn and tired from an age long gone crossed her thoughts again.

Tugging upon whatever bit of cloth that Sadayo was wearing at the time, particularly below the belt implying whatever was tugging was low. Something would hopefully derail Sadayo from her melancholy and reminiscing. Should she look down no more that what seemed to be two feet high was a penguin-esque...creature? What was most peculiar was that it seemed that to other that may have been in the area that its presence was being ignored. Typically one would think something as odd as this being in the area would be enough to draw some semblance of attention. Well then again they were among mystical ninja and all that so maybe the occurrence was just someone's henge prank or maybe it was even an adorable puppet. It's stare was blank like a puppet at least and lacking what seemed to be what most would consider soul as most constructs.
However, Sadayo would find any attempts to physically interact with it would fail. In fact her hands would go right through it. If she were talking to it well, pretty much everyone surrounding her would believe she was talking to herself or air, or maybe think she was just plain loony. What stood before Sadayo was a Shikigami. A being not of this world and the production if not desire of an onmyo or priestess. Based on appearance alone is was certainly a weak one. But what had it come here to do and what was its purpose. This would all become apparent when in its hands, er flippers a scroll manifested. "Tapo, po. Po."
These were the words it said as it stretched its stubby arms out towards Sadayo. The scroll carrying with it a sense of familiarity simply by looking at it and in a sense calling out to be taken. "kunyu, kunyu, mei, mei" when and if Sadayo were to take the scroll a soft glowing light would emanate from it. A transference from the world of spirits to the corporeal realm. When this transaction was complete the penguin thing would fade and slowly vanish waving goodbye. Leaving the question what was in the scroll. The only way of finding out being unsealing it. The seal having worn with time, as well as how the scroll looked somewhat fringed on its edges would imply the seal shouldn't be too difficult to lift.
Frozen, wide eyed, and widely unsure what to make of what she was staring at. A fat bird with a bow-tie? She hesitated to touch the scroll the considerably cute bird held out for her. Her hand quaked some before she bowed into taking an ordinary pace. Will it.... squeak if I happen to poke it? She diverged from taking the scroll and tried to touch its flipper. All she felt, however, was the side of the scroll. One hand accepted the scroll, passed it to the opposite hand, and then returned to again attempt to touch its flipper. Is that armor? LIke, bird armor? She pondered its appearance only for a moment plainly since her attempt to touch was not, simply, happening at all. Her sights could be deceiving her, now. Right? Right?
Sadayo absently waggled her fingers as if still trying to feel out the bird until some instinctual reaction ingrained in her senses screeched to bail on this bird faster than ever. Sadayo yanked her hand and recoiled after the bird peacefully faded away. "Tthhhfwwwuuuh....!" Her being was bunched up and leaning the opposite direction of the bird. Her neck arched and sights fixed on the now empty spot. Unbeknownst to her, the favored spot might be inhabited by squeaky spirits that carry scrollery around. Sadayo slowly unbound herself, sights shifting to search every angle, and began to gradually find a sense of "ease". Any glaces at the scroll, truthfully, left Sadayo with a spooky tingle of some sort. A chill that spread from her spine all the way up to her ears and made her feel all sorts of discontent that paired itself up with an unwanted sense of curiosity.
Can she open it? Would she just have to peel the paper back at the rate this the seal is falling off? Was the trick more extravegant than she antcipated. Sadayo tried first and foremost to carefully peel off the paper.

The Scroll unraveling as the seal crumbled away the contents would reveal itself as an a ornate combination of fuuin, a ying yang symbol which seemed somewhat clock like with several lines of fuuin scriptures, upon being opened before Sadayo in an almost hallucinogenic type scenario a wispy clock began to spin in the air as if a mirage caused by the heat of desert sands moving like a flag blown by the wind. The scroll in her hands thus becoming said desert sand as it crumbled away. The smell of arid desert, was she being attacked with Genjutsu. Attempts to Kai out would prove otherwise.
The people in front of the gate for the moment would all disappear and in this brief instance no longer than perhaps thirty or so seconds the entirety of Sunagakure flashed before her eyes, the gate replaced by the village of sands a large seal upon its door. Then as if the village itself had recognized her its gate opened, and a blinding white flash occurred. To the onlookers she would have appeared in a puff of smoke but there she was, the exorcist from five years ago. Kyomei Nenemaru THE GREAT AND POWERFUL EXORCIST. Signifying her presence of course with the chime of Shakujo and hands on her hips announcing her presence to the sky.
"UN BARA BARA! Congratulations on unsealing the GREAT AND POWERFUL KYOMEI NENEMARU'S SEAL YOU HAVE OFFICIALLY EARNED THE RIGHT TO BE HER APPRENTICE! BARHAHA BARHAHA!" It would be here she would actually look down to see who freed her from the seal. It was none other than Sadayo. Kyomei's memories were still crisp as the day she was sealed five years ago. She had left on pilgrimage those five years ago after the debacle with the Ichibi promising to return. But...she never did. Yet, not a single year of age showed to be on her. What had happened.
"So Soga-chan. Un hata. You weren't attending the ceremony but you must have caught wind of my AMAZING SEALING TALENTS bara bara. THUS! Un hata. You sought me out so that you may truly perfect your puppetry seals TO MASTERY LEVELS LIKE KYOMEI NENEMARU THE SEALER SUPREME! Unsealing the scroll is evidence you've got what it takes...did...did you get bigger?" Returning to reality for the moment Kyomei would look around, what had undone the seal was time, not skill and the young exorcist looked around she seemed somewhat confused as to where she was. To Kyomei the time that had passed would have felt no more than five minutes as oppose to five years. "This isn't the temple."

. A grand entrance. Her hands open and still as the scroll hurried, opened, flourished into an elaborate display and crumbled into soft grains in her palm. The visual spectacle that effectively produced an ebb of emotion that flurried in a blink. The temporary scent of the desert sprung a trickle of tears to well. Before she knew it, Sadayo was additionally, temporarily, stunned by a flash of white that totally threw her off guard. She shook her head (ponytails), blinked, rubbed her watery eyes, and tried to look around despite the annoying off-colored spot in her sights now. A noise that she almost dismissed as new placed wind chimes but sang a familiar chime. A sweet little tinkle.
Sadayo still could not see completely. Too many off-colored spots. Kyomei was a purpley-gray-green tiny mass. What gave her away was the Kyomei-pitched voice. Sadayo inhaled and briefly forgot to breathe. The puppeteer held her breath until Kyomeiās grand spiel about her amazing sealing talents. A quivery inhale-exhale. She had never been so happy to see the Powerful Kyomei.

Kyomei ceased her air head like looking around choosing to brush the new sights under the table for the time being as there were more important matter to discuss. After all what more important subject was there to talk about aside the Great and Powerful Kyomei Nenemaru. One hand on her hip and the other with a finger pointed to the sky she would tell her tale as though it were a yarn of old. "Bara bara, of course my now newly appointed apprentice would interested in the Great and Powerful Kyomei Nenemaru's Pilgrimage into Enlightenment." It seemed she had already labeled Sadayo her apprentice with or without the puppeteers approval. She would continue.
"After that whole thing with sand demon I decided to seek out a greater understanding of demons and demonology un hata. Intending to return I decided to see if it were true that such demons that are selfless could exist un hata. After enduring many grueling trials and self-discovery I came to a conclusion..." Kyomei with her eyes closed and with absolute certainty grabbed her Shakujo as it was then heartily slammed into the ground causing every ring to shake. "ABSOLUTELY NOT! BARA BARA" Crossing her arms with additional chimes corresponding with that movement Kyomei went on to explain what happened then. Although her revelation seemed certain the fact of matter was she blatantly lying. She hadn't found that answer and rather than seem like she had wasted her time seeking it went with what she already knew. Which COULDN'T POSSIBLY BE WRONG.
"Anyway KYOMEI THE NOW GREAT AND ENLIGHTENED EXORCIST, decided that it was time to return home but not before stopping by her families home temple un hata. Of course all there were dying to know of KYOMEI NENEMARU THE ALL KNOWINGS exploits and what she had learned. SO as such KYOMEI NENEMARU THE SUPER INFALLIBLE SENSEI decided to impart her wisdom unto her ignorant allies. BUT! Of course this knowledge is highly prized and valuable so thus I had to make certain to only entrust it with one whose knowledge in the sealing and unsealing arts was WORTHY! WHAT BETTER WAY I SAID, THAN WITH A TEST! Un Hata." Kyomei nodded in self affirmation believing that she was truly a genius among her other peers at the time. She would then raise a finger.
"So I sealed THE GREAT AND POWERFUL KYOMEI NENEMARU with a truly powerful seal that would surely make any amateur exorcists mind boggle BARA BARA!" The following she would say with such a level of cockiness and self assurance that it may have been painful to even hear as she rose a finger. "Of course I made sure that only someone from Sunagakure could remove the seal as I didn't just want to give my valuable knowledge to just anyone." There was indeed a mistake in Kyomei's plan. A contradiction that would have made anyone at her home temple trying to remove the seal end in failure regardless. Kyomei wasn't in Sunagakure, and the people she had tried to teach then none of them could have been from Sunagakure and if being a resident of Sunagakure was a condition for the scrolls unsealing...well. Why she was sealed for so long would begin to slowly but surely reveal iteself.

. Sadayo had allowed herself to be absorbed into listening to the girl's explaination and dabbed the little tears under her eyes away with the top of her glove. In the meantime, the light specks began to fade out of relevance as Kyomei's story neared its end and Sadayo could see the small excorist as she was. The same. Loud. This time shouting something about Sadayo being an apprentice. An imparative detail Sadayo missed was the initial shouting about being dubbed the excorsits's apprentice, in short, because the puppeteer was "much too" emotional to have caught the details about a ceremony (initiated by the he boisterious congratulatory cry and the first "UN BARA BARA!). For the later of Kyomei's story, Sadayo had the side of one hand brought to her lip while the opposite arm rested against her abdomen and held up its twin. Thinking. "Then, if you were stuck in the scroll. How did you get around? No, wait, I guess that's what the spooky little bird was for. Huhh... Not what I would've done. I probably would've put myself in an elaborate puzzle box with a backdoor somewhere. I couldn't hold my expectations up that high for anyone to get me out. " Sadayo was beginning to plainly think out loud with relevant commentary on the Great Kyomei's idea that sounded worse the more Sadayo mulled over about her peer's knowledge in ninjutsu as many seemed like people who thought with their fists. "It probably had quite the time looking for someone from Sunagakure that it could trust. I don't know how many have enlisted to serve here but they're all probably running around with spiral'ed bands now." Sadayo briefly mimic the bold, hands on hips gesture as she looked above Kyomei and said in false, hoarse cry: " NOT ME! EASY FIND. Okay. Now. Uhm. We should probably make sure the guard doesn't think you're a menace that was carried in here by malicious otherwordly forces. That saying, I still don't know a thing about spirits but that one looked friendly."
Sadayo began a 'shooing' motion with her hands while she looked around what notable locations the gate guards would typically be. Maybe two gate guards had their eyes on the pair. "Huuehh... The last thing I need to do is explain you. Go that way." The puppeteer motioned Kyomei to go the opposite of anywhere near the gate and feigned a stiff, toothy smile as her words came out without her lips moving to match. "There are other residents of Suna on this isolated island paradise that would probably like to know your great findings. Somewhere. If you want to share. In fact, I saw Sonyo here earlier. She was whisked off somewhere by some chick, i think. By now Sadayo was either following Kyomei or guiding Kyomei to slip inconspicuously off the ledge, rather the roof of something sadayo had been standing from, and wormed their way to back the ground level. The urgency to move out of attention of the guards was limiting Sadayo's approach to delicately reveal the dramatic change in scenery for Hidden Sand residents.

ShÅsan would walk through the woods, wasteland and farmlands of the shinobi village with the merchant. He'd scare off packs of wolves, flocks of large birds and enormous snakes with his various jutsu, featuring Chidori and his almost-perfected Rasengan. The merchant would often be accompanied by a shadow clone or two, depending on the situation, as a defense in case ShÅsan gets caught out or is too busy fighting. Finally, they would come to the promise land, the destination of the merchant; Uzushiogakure. They had come up to the entrance as ShÅsan would come to a stop. The merchant would turn to ShÅsan and thank him for everything and would begin walking inside of the village. ShÅsan would look at the merchant entering the village gates and would eventually let his eyes wander at the village itself. "Should I enter, or should I return back home..?" ShÅsan would stand in a confused position, deeply contemplating his choices.
"KYOMEI NENEMARU THE SORTA CONFUSED. Has no idea what you're talking about un hata. What is this bird you speak of, KYOMEI NENEMARU EXORCIST SUPREME IS ANYTHING ASIDE FROM A MENACE BARA BARA!" The start of her sentence implied that the Shikigami which had provided Sadayo the scroll was not planned. In short it was likely the thing had taken pity of the exorcist and felt remorse she was so incompetent as to seal herself in a scroll with impossible conditions that couldn't be met that she hadn't made aware to her 'students' at the time that it delivered it to a recipient that could.
Indeed Kyomei's loud and boisterous announcements were garnering confused looks. Especially as to why a puppeteer had an exorcist in a scroll to begin with. Suspiciousness aside Kyomei would follow Sadayo as her Shakujo would clang in each step she made. So Sadayo and Sonyo were here but here was not the hidden sand. What was all this business going on that they were here and not there. These pieces being put together slowly but surely like the sizzle of eggs on a frying pan. Only when they would reach a suitable destination did Kyomei come to a revelation that she had remembered something.
"Un Hata, that is right, I had almost forgotten." Kyomei would then next to Sadayo unravel a scroll. Upon it she would then begin using chakra to write out a message. 'I am well Bara bara, I found my apprentice. Worry no longer' it was the scroll communication technique. A technique used so that her and her father may keep in touch as after all, she was only fourteen traveling the world. Kyomei arms crossed she would for a response only after a few moments she'd say. "Bara bara, he usually responds by now." rather than worry impatience formed on the young girls face. What had become of her father?
The last five years with his daughters sealed self in hand he sought someone to free her. Though trapped in old ways refused to seek the aid of ninja. The day in which he would find someone to free his daughter, that day never came. His journey met an untimely end among the sands of Sunagakure where he had finally laid his stubbornness to rest. Hence where the scroll containing his daughter was lost. Until being found, this very day.

They were distanced from the gate guards enough that Sadayo didn't have too much reason to worry now. Extra attention wasn't necessary to grab hold of should Sadayo were to accidentally further spite the smol girl to ensue a shakujo beat-down, just in case. Kyomei wasn't all that predictable. "Maybe when out of context somebody else might think you're a menace. But I know of your good intentions." The puppeteer moved her hand to linger over Kyomei's head but initially resisted the choice to bestow a good-natured pat on the exorcist's head. Her fingers were outstretched and her hand quaked for the few moments she allowed it to hover over Kyomei's head. "Just lookin' out for... you." She lightly pat the exorcist's head. Twice.
After Kyomei stopped to unravel her scroll Sadayo slowly began to lurch forward to observe. Being taller than Kyomei had its perks, even if the height difference wasn't that much. She took a peek at the expression on the exorcist's face. It took Sadayo a few moments to connect that Kyomei's scroll was set to communicate to a sister scroll. The act of communicating through paper was a intriguing art and very tempting to learn herself but that was an endeavor for later. Sadayo couldn't really find much to say on behalf of Kyomei's impatience. She furrowed her brows, shrugged a shoulder, and looked overall unsure of what to say. Based on her lack of knowledge of the spirit-bird, Sadayo began to wonder how much exactly she had to avoid treading on the matter of a conquered Sunagakure. "Maybe he's caught up in something?" As far as who 'he' could be was currently out of Sadayo's grasp but she can only assume that the owner of the sister scroll must be close to Kyomei. "I suppose I oughta' help you find your way around for now. A sigh slipped through and her tone fizzled into something sounding tired. Sadayo wasn't fond of having to admit she possessed some degree of familiarity with this village and wasn't afraid to allow a fellow Land of Wind resident hear about it. "I've been here long enough that I have a general idea of where most things of interest are. C'mon. Field trip. "
