Age: 35
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual, tends to lean more towards women
Weyr: High Reaches
Rider Rank: Wingrider/Searchrider when allowed to gtfo and have fun
Previous Rank/Craft: Jewelmaker
Physical Description: With dark skin turned darker under the sun, Efrideet's smile and brown eyes flash like light--and oh is she blinding. Neither tall nor short, her boundless energy exudes itself like a separate being, her wide hips sway to the beat of a silent song, and her movements are like a dancer's. Her black hair is often tied back and braided, though she tends to change styles as much as one changes clothes. There's a silver piercing of an arrowhead in her right earlobe, either offsetting or somehow complimenting the silvery Thread scars along her arm.
Personality: Come, share a drink, a song, and a tale! Or if you prefer, a contest a strength? Efrideet welcomes strangers and friends alike, believing that everyone across Pern is connected in some way or another, and she wants to engage each and every one. "Hearty" is a core descriptor of this rider, whether it be in the food she consumes or the manner in which she approaches others: this is Efrideet, whole and hale, ready to take on whatever challenge is on the horizon.
Work is okay, she supposes, though she's one to liven things up when it becomes too predictable. Boredom is the worst, moreso than Thread. And a restless Efrideet quickly leads to things like lashing out at the most trivial problems and languishing dramatically.
She's very much wanting "fun" all the time, whatever form that may take. Commitments are...well, scary, though she wouldn't ever have the pride to say as much. Why stay with one person when there's hundreds more to see? It takes effort and a true cause to make Efrideet stay in one place for long, though friends need not never fear she'd abandon them. Beyond that? The one unknown she's not keen on exploring.
Positive Trait List Light-hearted, supportive, thrill-seeking
Negative Trait List Flighty, rebellious, petty
History: Born to two riders at Benden, the mother which was particularly strict, Efrideet knew a structured childhood. And an annoying one at that, though she loved them dearly; they only wanted what was best for their children, which was everything available to them at High Reaches. Her brother, Tyrinbar, was her closest friend growing up, and she did her best to ease his anxieties when Impressions rolled around. It didn't help, however, that she got her white first. (Much to her secret delight, having always been a bit competitive when it came to family.)
It also didn't help that when she visited, said white had a very vocal opinion about being stronger than the sum of his fears.
Otherwise, however, Efrideet went through a mostly uninteresting time as a junior and then senior weyrling, eager to get to the air more than anything. Tyrinbar eventually Impressed a green which, bleh, better than her, but whatever. She was happy to let him be the focus of the family arguments while she flitted about to do as she pleased, though she still dogged his heels for sibling time. It actually hurt to see him transfer to Western, but at the same time: screw him for giving up. She continued to come and go from High Reaches as work asked, pretending she didn't even have a brother. On these journeys, Efrideet learned that Asuracath, while brusque, seemed to have a nack for finding potential riders while she was having fun with whatever populace they were at. So, bonus!
Of course, the party had to end eventually, and Thread returned. She was caught off guard lounging outside, though her dragon managed to Between them quick enough to avoid anything incredibly harmful. And now with Ty'bar gravely injured as well, Efrideet is having to remember what having responsibility is supposed to be like, and that some things are bigger than petty family disputes.
Other: She's younger sister to Ty'bar!
DRAGON
Name: Asuracath
Inspo: A mix of 2 different Buddhist terms: Asuras (translated as antigods, demigods, and titans depending) are one of four unhappy births humans can reincarnate as in the Kāmadhātu, whom are obsessed with ego, force and violence, always looking for an excuse to get into a fight, angry with everyone and unable to maintain calm or solve problems peacefully. Beings may go to the Asura realm because in human form they had good intentions, but committed bad actions such as harming others. Acala is one of the Five Great Wisdom Kings in the Shingon tradition of Esoteric Buddhism whose name translates as "The Immovable One." He is often depicted with a fierce expression, engulfed in flame, and carrying a sword in one hand and a noose in the other, with which he cuts away impediments and removes defilements.
Age: 19
Color: White
Size: 15'
Physical Description: Short legged but stout, Asuracath is built as solid as an old tree. She appears puggish even before she sends her thoughts out, with a resting b***h face and a tail that twitches like an idle feline on top of that. While not the fastest or most agile of the smaller breeds of dragon, one can be sure that whatever she hits is going to take a beating: every bit of her body is muscle.
Personality: Asuracath projects an aura that makes one wonder if a gold could honestly control her. There is absolute power that radiates from her small body like heat, as well as brimming anger and silent judgement, that makes her seem larger than she is. When put to good use, her righteous fury knows no equal, no barrier that can stop her, not even her own limits. On the other hand, this makes an idle dragon rather destructive, venting her excess energy in restless exercises or complaints.
Rather unfortunately, she's also quite loud by nature. Efrideet has yet to find the volume button.
There is no such thing as mediocrity or grey area around this white. She gives 200% and expects nothing less from others, and woe to anyone who thinks otherwise. Asuracath is as opinionated as they come, with a co-morbid habit of being very open and very nosey about it, and it doesn't help that everything she does, she does intensely. It's not necessarily that she knows better so much as she knows everyone can be better, and she'd like nothing more than to make them face that problem holding them back and tear it limb from limb. Debates invigorate her, as does anything that is, essentially, a "duel of wills", physical or otherwise. Conflict leads to the tempering of an individual into something better.
At the same time, however, she doesn't like losing. Her streak of pride and sailor's vocabulary have more than once had Efrideet quickly ushering the both of them out the door.
Asuracath, despite being obnoxious at times, can be quite observant. It's as if she knows how to cut through the bullshit and strike at the heart of things. She uses her terrifying presence to force others to confront the core of the matter, themselves, whatever it may be. She is here to fight Thread, yes, but she's also here to strike at whatever injustice or obstacle is in a friend's way. Because when push comes to shove, she skips past that bullshit and goes for the juggular.
