Was it already finals time? Where had the time gone?
Garet felt like he had been at the academy for ages now. When he had heard Jaret was already lined up to finish up his schooling, admittedly Garet had panicked. Outwardly he had attempted to remain unphased and stoic. The hybrid hadn't been focused on his general studies, he didn't really care about school or learning. Socializing was always annoying and filled with trivial small talk. All he wanted to do was perfect his artwork, and learn how to further it along with picking up on how to tattoo. Not to mention, he was busy in general with his part-time job. He wanted money saved up for when it came time to leave for the adult world. Garet had a feeling he would be on his own, his brother's engagement was a reason enough to believe as such.
Which meant he had to find his own way, and that meant stepping up so he wouldn't fall behind.
Garet hadn't planned on furthering his education in the beginning of his senior year. The hybrid had believed he was content to begin working immediately and live his life after school. Yet, if he went to Grendel wouldn't that mean being surrounded by other talented artists? Even if not, the idea of refining and earning a degree that would potentially assist him in his everyday life certainly couldn't hurt. Graphic and concept design work had always been of interest to him.
Looking to his familiar he reached out and ruffled the spectrefoxes yellow fur. Mae had been in his life since his days as a freshling. She was a loyal companion, and he had every intention of taking her with him wherever he went. "What do you think girl...? I don't like doubting myself. It's annoying." He mumbled, laughing as the fox licked his cheek as if to distract him from his seriousness. Pulling her closer, he buried his face in his familiar's fur. Garet sighed as he closed his eyes. Was going to yet another school really the right choice? He was so excited to graduate and be done with this place.
A fresh start somewhere else sounded promising, however.
By the time finals were done, and with the prospect of not having made many close friends and associates...maybe going to University was exactly what he needed. Despite his reservations, Garet felt with having successfully passed his classes and electives he would have a chance of getting in. Preparing a portfolio to submit his work samples had been extremely nerve-wracking. Garet had been extremely meticulous in what he chose to submit.
Somehow it ended up strangely rewarding; especially when the acceptance letter came in the mail.
Sitting on his bed he laughed as he laid on his back. The hybrid covered his arm over his eyes. The words on the letter turned in his mind over and over again. He hated studying and learning...why was he doing this to himself? Chuckling he lifted his arm off his face. He'd mention it to Jaret and Faverielle the next time he saw them, he could already imagine their shocked faces. For now? He planned to celebrate by grabbing a bite to eat at the cafeteria. The future was knocking on his door, leading him down a path he wasn't entirely sure about.
However, for the first time in a long while, Garet felt motivated to see what else he could accomplish. What about more with his art? How about his magic abilities? The only limits were the ones he set for himself. He could work and go to school as needed. The realization was liberating, Garet couldn't remember the last time he felt like he did at that exact moment.
