The senshi of hail, now once more, returned from his second near death experience since return to Destiny City, had resumed a portion of what he considered his duties. Which, as it, were, included checking in on everyone's favorite resident alien life form. Maintaining his eternal form, he felt it best as of late to be less conspicuious. If it was the fact he was a father now, or, he'd just stopped wanting to get into a fight every single evening was hard to pin down, but he'd likely say it was being a father and almost dying, (again). It was hard to be a parent when everyone wanted to kill you for one reason or another. Still, his own issues aside, he'd not spoken to Caedus in months, and he was well overdue for checking in with the enigmatic alien. Last they talked, he'd been keen to leaving earth and slowly gathering energy to do so, (how he'd leave earth, Castor was yet to be sure of). Well, months had passed and Castor was both concerned and leery that Caedus remained. It seemed out of character for the man to lie of wanting to leave, or to waste what energy he had on something like lashing out at the negaverse. Just so, for him to stay without good reason was suspect. It was one thing to perhaps just need a bit more energy, another to omit information on one's intentions when you were a several thousand year old alien with a hatred for the Negaverse and would utilize lives not your own to gain perhaps a form of revenge. Castor wanted to think he might be mistaken, but blind trust and his willingness to ignore a vague threat was only something he could maintain for so long. Reaching the alien's forest, Castor didn't yell, but rather, walked to the edge, trying to sense the man rather than make a scene. The Space Cauldron because the prince is ... well.. he nosy

It was common for Caedus to move throughout the forest, and it was luck alone that he was skirting the edge of the tree line, peering out at the distant city lights, when he first sensed an energy signature of an Eternal Senshi. He had many among their rank that he considered himself on friendly terms with, so he didn’t stray away. Instead, he stayed close enough that he could be easily found and waited. At first, he had been relaxed. While always reserved, he had at least lowered his guard while he waited for the Eternal Senshi. But of course, things were never easy. The moment he realized it was Castor, he went rigid. He did not have the best relationship with the Prince, regardless of whatever form he was in, and though they seemed to have been able to get along in their recent interactions, he still knew how powerful—and dangerous—the man could be. He tried to force himself to relax; there was no point in trying to slip into the darkness when he wasn’t even sure if Castor hadn’t seen him. Instead, he waited by the trees, standing a little taller, and regarding the Senshi quietly with his strange, glowing eyes. “Good evening,” he greeted, polite, but questioning. Castor was not what he would consider a frequent visitor but he had little doubt that Castor would make his intentions known sooner rather than later.

The voice cut trough the lull of the dark, and the corner of Castor's mouth took an uptick in a smirk. At least he wasn't being snubbed or having to go gallivanting in shrubs to find the elusive being. "Depends on who you're talking to. For me, it's a decent sort of evening." A small wave, he walked towards the alien wondering perhaps he'd not have had to wait had he arrived in his more flamboyant form. But, then, arriving to one location and lingering while royal wasn't the most ideal when trying to aid in keeping an escaped prisoner free of their captors as it were. "Also, maybe you'll be happy to know, I have once more survived almost being killed. It seems to be the regular theme. I get into a battle, nearly die, then visit those I should have been keeping an eye on. Only difference is with you-" He reached the treeline, leaning on one, snorting at the faint pollen lingering in the air. "-You were supposed to have left long ago." There wasn't hostility in his voice so much as wariness. Hands in the air he shrugged. "What's the hold up? Get yourself a lover and can't cross the stars without her? If so, I promise not to steal her away, I know when to mind my own business." The grin didn't dismiss the wariness in his eyes, nor to tenseness of his muscles, coiled to react if needed.

For a moment, Caedus was quiet. Then, his heated turned away and his gaze settled on something far off to Castor’s right. Quietly, he muttered, “You mock me.” It was not an accusation but almost sounded like a realization. Caedus would not permit him such frivolities as a lover, nor would he postpone any plans he’d made for something so simple as emotions. He didn’t suppose Castor would be content with such a response; regardless of how Castor delivered his words, Caedus understood what he wanted to know: Why are you still here?He stood a little taller out of habit, as if he felt the need to be prepared to defend himself. “I intend to leave soon. I did not mean to stay as long as I have. Rest assured, my goals have not changed. I merely miscalculated the time it would take to achieve them.”

Castor's eyes crinkled at the edges while he smiles. "You and everybody else on this miserable rock floating through space. Force of habit." He figured that the alien was bound to get prickly no matter how the conversation went, and as far as Castor was concerned, he couldn't care less so long as he got answers. Coming back from the dead and expecting that the resident alien to be gone back to his world was one thing. Coming back from the dead to find he'd never left was... concerning for several reasons. Mostly, the fact that each day risked him becoming noticed by forces less inclined to secret keeping. Forces inclined to perhaps force Cadeus's hand and even go so far as to attempt to infiltrate another world. Castor might not be the wisest nor brightest, but it didn't pass his thoughts that is the man could open a portal to the negaverse... he could probably do so to his own worl, ergo there was a possibility to open on to others. And such a thing would, could, spell disaster for the senshi long term. So long as the negaverse was bound to earth, the senshi still had a shot at reclaiming their birthrights, their homelands. Cadeus posed both a hope and a threat, which made him dangerous even without wanting or wishing to be. "I... well I would say I understand the delay, but honestly I don't. You're a smart man." Castor's smile was quickly turning into a frown. "Men like you don't make mistakes often. Soon might have a different meaning when you're thousands of years old versus just in your twenties so as a matter of perspective I'm not sure how soon your soon is" Blue eyes narrowed. "I don't trust you completely Cadeus. I am beginning to think I shouldn't trust you at all, despite what others tell me."

Caedus’ expression was mostly unreadable beneath the hood, but what was visible implied he wasn’t particularly pleased with Castor’s words. “I do not think you have ever trusted me,” he answered, calm but reserved. “I take no offense at your words. However,” he shifted positions just slightly, as if he intended to reach for something at his belt. He paused and second guessed his movement, instead lowering his hand to his side again. “I do not know how interested or reassured you would be if I explained my crystals. I do not have the means to estimate exactly how much I have collected. If I misjudge, if I have too little, I will wind up in an empty space, in a vast expanse of nothingness. It is tricky enough that I have to estimate the location of my destination without knowing how much its trajectory or course has changed in the time I have been gone. I am doing the best I can. It would be foolish to leave without knowing I have the best chance possible to get where I am going. Prematurely evacuating will do nothing but condemn me to a slow death. I would prefer not to move from one prison to another if it could be avoided.” His voice was steady, but the low gravel of his voice and the strange, slightly metallic hum from deep in his throat didn’t make it particularly easy to speculate what his true emotions might have been. “I understand if my assurances mean little to you.” They hadn’t gotten off to a very good start. There was little Caedus could do to improve their relationship except leave. “My return to my homeworld is still dependent on what assistance I am provided. I cannot summon energy to leave. If I could, I would have left seasons ago. I am estimating, based on what has been given to me so far, that I should be gone before the seasons change again. It is an estimate, but I do not have consistency by which to promise you anything. I can do no more than I have already.”

There was a twitch of a smirk that formed on Castor's face, a mockery of a smile, a mimicry of friendliness. "I would have to be foolishly blind to trust you. You're everything we're made to fear after all. Alien, unknown, seeking to harness power for your own means which you keep to yourself. Trust is a luxury I can't afford. Not anymore." He shrugged, pushing off the tree and walking towards the inhuman being before him. Castor wanted to know, but he also wasn't too keen on spending a long time going over logistics. More- he just wanted finality. He wanted a chapter closed and a possible risk to be alleviated for a time. The chance that Cadeus was well intentioned was there, but many a good intention could sour. A good plan didn't mean it was a good plan. Thankfully, all of Castor's plans were less plans and more off the cuff decisions if anything. "I can understand the issue of launching yourself into space; granted, in theory. Even as a Royal, leaving my own world would be- well." Another shrug, he passed Cadeus, walking further into the forest. He looked skyward musing at the fact that were they perhaps, as they once had been, the senshi could have very well assisted Caedus better. They might not have had to resort to these half plans and Castor wouldn't have to fear or mistrust the being who at worst, was cordial. "Your assurance do help though, if, marginally. I thought you could sense your world much like I did. Telling me you have to estimate and calculates makes sense though I suppose. We might be aliens in an offhanded way to humans, but, every senshi and their race was different, once upon a time." Blue eyes looked back at the off world guest. "You plan to return one day, don't you? If so, You might wish to exercise a fair bit of caution. The Surrounding is not entirely whole, but it's very nearly intact. Even if benign, might be a bit of an issue- plus Chronos is pretty mean when angry."

Caedus tilted his head just slightly. “The Surrounding is, to my knowledge, of no concern to me. It has never given me issue before and I doubt it will now. The rest of the worlds seem to have decayed and I do not doubt that its power has waned all the same. I appreciate the concern,” though he knew it was not given in earnest. “But then, I have never considered myself a threat to Earth. Whether or not you choose to accept that,” he shrugged. “I do not have the energy to argue with you. You are stubborn, but I can only figure that you truly do mean the best for this world. The Negaverse is the only one need fear. They have caused too much harm, too much death. You cannot blame me for wanting to see them ended. And if I could offer assistance in the matter…” His eyes followed Castor. He did not seem hostile, or antagonizing—only cautious and contemplative. “Would you not be a fool to reject the assistance when you yourself have not been able to make any strides against them?”

"I'd not be alive if I wasn't stubborn. It's both part of my charm, and part of my flaws." He grinned. "As for wanting the best for the world- that's... debatable. What I think is best doesn't mean it is the best for all. In the grand scheme of things, my loyalty is to my world, ruins and rubble it may be. Earth is just a.. temporary place." He sighed. "I keep this world safe for one purpose Cadeus, and it is not to keep it from the negaverse or chaos indefinitely. I lost hope for a victory here a long time ago, and while I would not turn away an ally or assistance in driving them back, my end goal is vast different than others. Earth has no senshi, and it's prince died not even 20 years past- as such, it is in a state of perpetual decay. This world has me so long as it serves a purpose." He looked at the skyline, murky, light pollution hiding the stars. "Return and be an ally to earth, I understand your fondness of it, the people here, but in the end, we senshi were not meant for this place. This isn't our home, no matter how much we might wish it so." Castor frowned, a melancholic smile following. "I envy your hope, and do wish that you find your people safely and well off."

Caedus regarded Castor with an unreadable expression; it seemed a foreign though, that Castor could dismiss Earth so readily. “That is an interesting thought,” he said after a moment to process the words. “I think there are many who would disagree with you. I do not think there is any shame in having two planets you hold dear to your heart. I have two worlds.” He hesitated for a moment, and then clarified, “Or, I did. I have the world I was born to, my true world. The home I did not ever have the luxury to fully enjoy. We were driven from it. It was stripped of life, destroyed, too hostile to inhabit. And so, we created our own world. A new home. I was young when my homeworld was attacked. There was nothing I could do. I cannot help but wonder, if after all this time, we could return to it. I have heard tales of Senshi reviving worlds they thought dead. Uninhabited, perhaps mine was able to recover.” His gaze drifted to the sky and he searched, but the way his eyes moved rapidly across the darkness seemed to imply he couldn’t find what he was searching for. “You say you keep this world safe for ‘one purpose’,” he murmured after a moment. “How can you say that? You may be tied to Castor, but how is this not your home, too?”

The prince shrugged. He'd been disagreeable since he'd awoken. Being told he was wrong was nothing new to him- defiance and deviation were rather par for the course for him now. "It's not a matter of fondness or pride Caedus- it is a matter of purpose. Earth shouldn't be forced to host us and be our battleground against chaos. It's people deserve better than that for the next millennia. We are, if we wish to acknowledge it or not, interlopers. We are aliens hijacking human hosts for lack of a better analogy. I-" He drew in a breath, head hanging as his eyes closed in thought. He was not eloquent in any stretch, but he tried sometimes, to express his feelings when he found himself able. "I remember my home Caedus. It isn't dead or lost to me- it lingers, waiting, calling me back. It should have people, my people. But - they aren't there. They're gone, wiped out by chaos. You have your people, your history- it lived and survived. Mine and every senshi like me here on earth? We- we lost that. We lost nearly everything that made us who we were. Earth isn't home for us. Fondness cannot replace the truth of what we are. We are born for our worlds; We exist to serve and protect them. Yet we have no one left Caedus. Our people are gone. So we're born to a world not meant for us, because the balance must exist. We exist for worlds that once thrived and now are silent, their people gone." His hands came to his arms, the scars of his magic having left the pale thin lines on his skin. Reminders that he was human. Reminders that he was destined to live a human life. "I wish earth was my home, but it's not. Often I think that's the curse of being a royal- it's knowing so much of the past, of feeling so deeply- to know that in the end..." He smiled, melancholic. "In the end we failed Caedus. And being born, forced to live in this world is the reminder of that failure. We'd not be here if we hadn't failed our people. I protect this world not because I am overly fond of it, not because it might alleviate suffering or is the right thing to do- I do so only because it is one place that might one day be useful to restoring my world and others like it. Because there might come a day where I must chose what I serve and no matter my feelings, my duty is to my home- the one I was destined and born for." He shrugged again helplessly. "That is perhaps, not a sentiment shared by many- but it is a truth I cannot deny, a truth perhaps, other royals each face in their own way."

Caedus listened quietly, no doubt carefully considering each of Castor’s words and the intent behind him. “It is an interesting way of thinking. But I cannot help but think that your home is what you make it. I moved from one home to another. But I can understand what you mean.” He was quiet for a moment and then clarified, “Our world was taken from us. Our home world. My birth planet. Every day after we were conquered was a reminder of failure. Our resources were depleted, my people enslaved. And, even when we escaped, we were reminded that we had lost everything. We built, do not get me wrong, and created a world for ourselves. But it has never escaped me that we were subjected to that only because we failed to protect our world.” There was a heaviness to his voice, like there was something unspoken he grieved for, but he only sighed. “It is a struggle I imagine each Senshi experiences differently. I cannot fault you for your feelings on the matter. I understand your pain.”

Hands clenched into fists. He not liked the fact he and Cadeus were alike. He did not like the reminder that where Cadeus and his people had survived- his had not, and that too was a guilt in him, on him. "You are lucky to have had your people." He couldn't hate him for it. He shouldn't. "I envy that." Yet he did. His envy was bitter and it burned him. He missed his past, his people. He wanted them, we wanted to know them, to have lived with them, loved them as they had once loved him. Yet that was gone. He looked to the alien and sighed. This was perhaps, yet again, something his brother might have faired better with- diplomacy was not Castor's best quality. "Would you wait here a moment? If willing, I'd get a gift for you. If it would prove useful, I do not know but, it might help if anything to ease small discomforts."

Caedus nodded; he knew he was lucky. There were so many planets before, and after, his that fell into ruin. He did not doubt the quality of their people, but knew only the resilience of his own. He hoped they had maintained this luck and resilience in his absence, and though he was loathe to admit it, there was a small speck of doubt that twisted and burned, deep in his gut. He had to force himself to remain confident that they were fine. He could not let doubt weigh him down. If he did, he knew he would fail. Though he did not trust Castor completely, he trusted at least that he would not have wasted all this time talking to find some way to try to subtly attack or sabotage. Castor did not seem the sort capable of much discretion or subtlety. He seemed the sort to just outright attack--like he'd done shortly after Caedus had offered his way to strike the Negaverse at his core. He paused for only a few seconds and then inclined his head in a slight nod. "I will wait," he promised.
