Thermos tucked under her arm, Sailor Corvus waited in the park for Sailor Kallichore. They'd corresponded via senshi phone to arrange a time and date for a tale-telling session. The tea was both a gesture of good will and something of comfort for the Senshi of Vengeance. The warmth of something in her hands was always a relief, giving her something to focus on when her mind wandered too far from the task at hand. The time between their last meeting had passed kindly for her. The new semester had started in school, the season was back to a normal flow for her work schedule and things in her civilian life were finally settling enough that she could put more focus into her powered life. All in all, she was looking forward to tonight... Looking forward to trading stories with a new friend.

Kallichore was happy to attend another meeting with Corvus for multiple reasons - Corvus came from a time before herself, knowing people and events that predated any powered life Kallichore herself had. Corvus was awakened during a time of the Moon Princess and strange, alien trees and a Mauvian named Astraea. These times, though historic, were of some significance to Kallichore. She wanted to know everything she could to satisfy her own curiosity, and to perhaps prevent the errors of the past from repeating themselves. She brought with her a well-worn journal and corresponding pen with which to write. She wanted to immortalize Corvus' memories out of respect for a senshi still active in the war after all these years. Arriving on the scene, the area around them was blessedly free of any Chaos signatures that may wish to interrupt them. "Good evening, Corvus. I'm glad to see you well. Are you feeling better? I'm sorry our last meeting was... emotionally heavy."

"It's good to see you again, Kallichore." Corvus was smiling, had started doing so the moment she felt the light brush of another Order aura arriving on scene. There was something to be said about the way other auras similar to her own felt soothing; so different compared to those afflicted by Chaos. "I am well, and I hope that you are too?" She extended her hand to the other young woman in greeting. "Please, don't apologize. When you've been at this as long as either of us have, sometimes finding a kindred soul means sharing emotions. It doesn't make any less of us. Are you ready for a trip to the stars?"

"It's good to see you again as well, Corvus." It was rare, but always welcome, to find someone with similar or greater tenure than herself. Kallichore couldn't fault those that tired of war, who wished to retire having done something to further the cause. Some had experienced too much to wish to continue. Some were corrupted, some were killed. Those that remained continued to carry the mantle, the weight of the war pressing down on their souls. Only recently did Kallichore find her shoulders no longer slumped with that weight, her moon's gaze ever present on her skin. With a quiet nod, Kallichore tucked her journal away into subspace to prepare for the ascent into space. "Always. It's an honor to see another homeworld. It's not often I get to see too many outside of my own."

"Truth be told, even though I knew we could travel to the stars for years I avoided traveling to Corvus. I was afraid of the ghosts I mind find there-- from this past and the last one. If it weren't for the encouragements of a young woman with more hope and determination than anyone I've ever met I may never have let my cousin convince me to take him for a visit. If you ever meet her, Denebola is a good woman." A good woman who deserved a better friend than she had been, when all was said and done. Corvus extended her hand to Kallichore, waiting until the other senshi had taken hers before focusing on the feel of her homeworld. It was much easier to follow the trail back to Corvus now than it had been at first, almost like reaching for the comfort of a favorite blanket on a cold night. She wrapped the feeling around her, giving Kalli's hand a gentle squeeze as they shifted from one planet to the next. When they each opened their eyes again they would be on Corvus-- in the castle courtyard, to be precise. Most of her arrivals found her there, soothed by the gentle sound of the fountain flowing into the pond. The late afternoon breeze was cool, but not so much that either of them would find themselves uncomfortable as they sat talking-- and if they did, Corvus could at least show the other senshi the bits of the interior they'd managed to clean out over several trips over the course of more weeks than she could keep track of. "Welcome to Corvus, Kallichore."

Skye Starrfyre omg look a tag like A MILLION YEARS LATER Hmm, Denebola.Oh, yes. Kallichore remembered her. "My brother spends a great deal of time with Denebola. He speaks of her with much fondness." Eyes raising to the sky, Kallichore allowed herself a soft smile. Indeed, Denebola functioned as a surrogate mother, filling a hole both deep and wide in her brother's heart. It was a relief to know he was cared for so lovingly by someone who could replace the mother who abandoned them both for a lifestyle decades too young for her. Christa had made peace with that many years ago - Zach did not. But that was neither here, nor there. Grasping Corvus' hand, the shift of Earth to space to Corvus was as exhilarating as space travel had always been. New sights and sounds and scents would greet her when boots touched solid ground. There was something very Corvidian, appropriate, about a castle and its accompanying fountain. Corvus looked as though she and her castle were designed as a package - they fit together wonderfully in theme and color. Kallichore, by contrast, looked completely foreign on her world. How odd it was that this was so. Boots tapped against stone as Kallichore made slow, deliberate rounds about the courtyard. "Ah, and how lovely it is, Corvus. You must be very proud. It's... regal. Very regal. Do you know much about it?"

My brother spends a great deal of time with Denebola. He speaks of her with much fondness. Corvus felt a tug on her heart that went on to form a lump in her throat that she swallowed back in order to focus. It was easier to keep her mind on the stars than it was to let her thoughts linger on the Senshi of Dragonflies-- not because she did not still care for the other woman, but because of how poor a friend she herself had been to Dene. To know that Denebola still had others looking out for her, that spoke of her fondly, was a relief. Whatever lingering traces of sorrow lingered through the transportation faded as Kallichore spoke again. She met the other young woman's words with a smile, giving her hand a gentle squeeze before releasing it so that she could wander the courtyard. "I know that the castle was the center of Corvus-- it was where the ruling family resided. Sailor Corvus of the Silver Millennium awoke as a chibi. She explored her home, infuriated her instructors and enjoyed spending time here in the courtyard with her cat." She spoke as one might of a dearly departed relative; hard to think of the young Corvus of the past as herself at some times. She regarded the past as something to learn from; it was her then, not who she was now. "Eta, my Guardian, and Sumi, my cousin's Guardian, were able to restore the running water. That is what I am the proudest of, I think."

The gray-haired senshi noted slightly slumped shoulders and a downcast demeanor from Corvus, but chose not to say anything. Poking and prodding may only pick open old scabs, and that was the last thing the senshi wanted to do during this trip to an old world left uninhabited. The gentle squeeze of the hand was returned with gratitude. "A chibi?" she asked, interested to find that senshi awoke all too soon in the past as well. But if the past was as peaceful as she believed it might have been, why did senshi awaken so young? Perhaps there was some other reasoning behind it. "As young as she might have been, I'm glad she had a Guardian to look after her. That is, if it was a Mauvian, not a standard Earth-analogous cat." Following behind Corvus, Kallichore kept her eyes moving from point to point, taking in every detail she could. The color and texture of the stone, the carvings, tapestries and the sound of the water in the fountain. Corvus was distinctive, no doubt about it. "I'm glad you had others to assist in the restoration. Was restoring the water difficult? What did it involve? I assume some sort of plumping system was at work..." Absently, a gloved hand ran over the nearest wall in reverence. Truly, these worlds withstood the tests of time. "My home is... was much more primitive by comparison. I'm afraid I haven't found any plumbing of any kind. Mostly... humble huts and temples and the like."

"Yes," the Senshi of Vengeance laughed softly, eyes closing as she tilted her head skyward in thoughtfulness. "I think it had much to do with the nature of Vengeance as a source to draw power from. It seemed as though there was much thought that went into how to best prepare a child for the responsibilities that would come to her as an adult." If all chibi senshi were brought up the way that Corvus had been in the past she might pity their early awakening as much as she did now. There was no structure. No organization. No way to make sure they remained safe. "It was indeed a Mauvian; one that has found me in this lifetime as well. Eta was, and is, a blessing. She feels responsible for arriving 'late' in this lifetime. So many of the early senshi had no one to guide them. It's.... It's what makes the Primer so much more important to us now." Corvus looked to Kallichore, hoping the other woman knew just how important her work was to those without guides. "Eta and Sumi discovered tech beneath the castle-- cogs, gears, piping; things I wouldn't have thought to go looking for on my own seeing the castle just on the surface. From what they told me, one of the ancient Corvids had put something in place to stop the machinery from functioning. It.... It looked like my people left the castle on their own terms, disabling everything they could to leave nothing for the enemy to find." There was a swell of pride in her at the talk of her people and how she imagined them to be. "Temples? That sounds fascinating, Kallichore, truly! Have you experienced memories of your own as well?"

Kallichore hummed in response, listening closely with eyes to the sky, the story of small Corvus and her Mauvian guardian. It was comforting to know that the Corvus of the past had structure about her, and no Chaos to fight. While each world was wholly unique from all the others, the lack of Negaverse presence (at least, as far as she could tell from what memories she had) was a blessing. To find that the Mauvian who guarded her in the past still guarded her in the present was a welcome relief. "I'm very glad," she started, eyes still held skyward. Something about the firmament above them called to her in strange ways. "to find that a bond that strong perseveres throughout time and space. I often wonder if my brother would have the same with his Mau?" While Kallichore did not know Itsuki as intimately as Themisto did, the bond between the two was undeniable. Corvus' praised earned a look and eyebrows slowly disappearing into a gray hairline. "Ah... yes, well." she tittered, turning away to sigh in embarrassment. Kallichore was many things, but gregarious and charismatic were not among them. She did not accept praise well, nor was she particularly craving of the spotlight. "I'm simply relieved it's been useful." It was a welcome change in conversation when Corvus began to unravel the mystery of the piping in the castle, and the origin of the water in the fountain. Cogs and gears made thematic sense - the idea of which fitting in very well with the Corvid aesthetic. "Enemy? What enemy?" A cold shiver struck her then, as the uninvited memory of a crowd of children being asked to sing as Sibyl placed herself between them and the coming end of their world. Corvus' question brought her out of that hellish nightmare in an instant. Kallichore paused, drawing a breath before answering. "Ah, yes. They were a... particularly religious people. I would equate them to a shamanic people, using wood and stone as their highest technology. Places of worship were more elaborate than humble housing. I... yes, I have several memories of the past."

"That is a question I don't have an answer to. I've not chased my memories far enough to find out just yet, but... Much of the castle was damaged, and I can only assume that some of it was done by something other than the passage of time." Crumbled stone walls, shattered doors-- at some point there had been an assault on the castle and Corvus was grateful that she had not found the remains of anyone left behind. It was better to assume that they had been elsewhere, that whoever had attacked had been left with nothing and no one who would assist them. "One day we'll know... If it's something that we need to know in order to make it further in this world. Until then..." Her words trailed off as her head tilted skyward, sparing a thought for the past before looking to Kallichore as she spoke of her home world and her people. "Are your memories fond? I... At first I thought to avoid coming here at all, truth be told. I was afraid of what I might find-- of what memories might find me." She would like to think that her homeworld had sensed that; that it had given her only the memories that she'd needed to strengthen her soul and push her further towards purpose. She didn't know if she believed it to be true, but she couldn't deny the possibility outright.

Heels clicked on ancient stone and a head bowed in silent contemplation. Perhaps it was the coming chaos -- metaphorically-speaking, for Kallichore did not know exactly what had brought the end to her civilization -- that had damaged the castle so. Was it the same force, or was it civil war? Was it civil war, or was it a foreign invasion? So many unanswered questions, and questions only Corvus could find the answers to. Kallichore was curious, though she did not wish to pry. "Fond?" The question interrupted her long chain of thoughts, but it was not unwelcome. Lifting her eyes, Kallichore tapped her chin with a gloved hand. "Some, yes. I know Sibyl took issue with how well-respected the Prophet before her was, and felt she was ill-prepared to walk in his footsteps. I've no memories of Prophet, save for what little Sibyl had spoken of him. But she was a motherly sort and had a gaggle of young children underfoot most times. She was a teacher and guide, and in many ways, I look up to her. She was... more personable than I. I wish I could read her diaries..." Other memories, like those of weeping children, were not so fond, but the senshi chose not to dwell on such things. Corvus might have been a dark world, but depressing, it was not. "I should think that fear is not uncommon. If we really think about it, would we have believed ourselves if we could go back in time and say, one day, you'll awaken to powers that defy logic, and you had an entire life, perhaps countless lives, before this? I wouldn't have believed it, and I didn't, until I traveled to my moon one day out of curiosity. Finding the ruins of the village was..." A moment of silence passed between them while Kallichore sought the right word. The perfect word. "Epiphanous."

"The more time you spend amidst the ruins the more you get a feel of pride, a feeling of home. Coming here now is like an escape from everything else back on Earth. It's like I can feel the ancient power that was in everything that is and sometimes saying that feels so foolish.... But then I catch a glimpse of a memory, or I hear laughter in the halls." It had once worried her that she might lose herself here entirely, falling so deeply into the past and its exploration that she wouldn't be able to find her way out. It didn't anymore, and she did not think it ever would again. After listening to Kallichore for a moment longer Corvus reached over to gently take hold of her hand. "You sell yourself short, Kallichore. You follow in her footsteps without knowing it. Teacher? Guide? What other kind of person would it take to lay the path of information that you've put together for the next generation? As for personable?" Corvus flashed her fellow senshi a warm smile. "I'm not one to say much on that trait. There was a time when I was certain that no one would want to possibly work alongside me-- and that there was no one I would care to work with either." How times had changed since then... How far she'd come since the days of Eridanus, Alshain and Saiph... "I think we grow into ourselves, into who we are meant to be, learning from the distant past as much as we do from the present one."
