The trip to Korea was fast coming up and Seung needed to talk with Quinn as a sorta possible last talk before they left, he had to address the issue of his ancestor with the other. This not being a business thing, and more of a senshi and personal thing, meant eh waited until work was over before asking the other to stay behind and talk. The offer of dinner, or even going out while powered up, was made in a whisper as incase anyone remaining at the office were to walk in on him talking.
“It’s a personal matter...something we discussed in part not too long ago. I found what I needed to.” Referring to the remains of his ancestor. “I think it’s going to make things impossible…” Trailing off there, to allow the other to decide if they should move the conversation, now that the topic was out there for the other.

With the extended trip to Korea, for the Lunar New Year and sticking around for the Olympics, approaching fast the amount of work that was piling up on his desk was getting to stupid levels. Granted a lot of that was because everyone was still so over protective and rather then letting him work through the obnoxious stacks that keep being given to him they chase him out like some vagrant, just because he came in one day in jeans and t-shirt didn’t mean he was homeless damn it. So when someone knocked on his office door towards the end of the day Quinn reluctantly glanced up, only to breath a mental sigh of relief to see it was Seung. They had a lot to talk about, mostly work but not all, so he gladly motioned the other to come into the small room he called his office. He didn’t want a big space, no matter what his last name was or the expectations that were heaped on him, he was nothing but a small cog and didn’t need extra consideration. It was bad enough he was treated like a child sometimes with the nagging about eating and getting chased out at the end of the day.
Not that any of that mattered at the moment, not when Seung explained what he needed. With a nod Quinn agreed, “I’ve found out some stuff too. Dinner sounds good then we can play the rest by ear.” He really should be patroling or practicing but honestly Quinn had a feeling that after they talked over dinner they would be heading to Seung’s homeworld. If not they could always head to his, he had been too busy lately to head up there to see how the damage from his ‘neglect’ was coming. “Give me about a hour to get as much as I can done before they chase me out. Any suggestions on food? Somewhere we can go over ‘paperwork’ and not get in anyone’s way.” Like his friend the sandy haired young man didn’t want to come right out and say anything that could be overheard. Best leave that for when they were somewhere more private.

Without saying anything, at least not yet, he went ahead and helped himself to some of the others paperwork to glance over, if he could help in getting some of it done he might as well - right? It wasn’t like he couldn’t manage to help and pull his own weight in regard to getting work done, he was good at getting these sorts of things done. “Somewhere with a private room might be best.” Which he was sure the other could find such a place, as for the place or type of food..well he was open minded to anything.
“Did some shopping for the trip...needed to get some things for employees there. Some things are cheaper here than back home.” Things he’d paid for out of his own pocket, since he could, which he didn’t mind. He knew it wouldn’t look at nice, at least not till he put things into baskets with other items, but he wasn’t going to spend as much as he would if he bought the items back in Korea. Not to mention he might not even be able to get what he wanted when they arrived, Lunar New Year gifts tended to sell out fast.

Quinn glanced over in surprise as Seung came and helped himself to one of the stacks, his friend had his own work to do but Quinn wasn’t about to turn down the help. Besides Seung was better at some of the s**t that needed to get done and anything Quinn had to handle on his own the other male would know. There was no worry there. So with a quiet thanks he dived for his office phone, it was under this mess somewhere. It didn’t take him long to locate it and even less time to place a call, before more then a few minutes passed he had hung up and was turning back to his work. “I got us a back room at a little italian place I know. We will just need to bring some of this mess with us.” He had explained on his call that they needed to do a working dinner but didn’t want to disturb the rest of the guests. Since the small room that was commonly used for small parties was clear he gladly took the offer to use it for their ‘dinner meeting’.
With that done the sandy haired young man turned his full attention back to his work, the silent office quickly filling with the sound of paper shuffling and pen’s scratching, the quiet ticking of the wall clock a soothing counterpoint. There were even occasional mutterings as Quinn quietly worked through a problem out loud. That's how the secretary found them when she politely knocked on his still open door. “Sir, its after 7. Time for you to go.” She stood there until Quinn acknowledged her, and the subtle warning she had delivered. He knew that if he didn’t pack up and head out they would send out the big guns, mainly one of the more matronly staffers that had permission on high to quite literally drag his a** out of the building by the ear. A grown man can only suffer such an indignity once before he took the hint. Now when he was told to leave, he left.
Sighing in frustration, he still had more work to do although with Seung’s help his mountain had shrunk a significant bit, Quinn gathered up some work and placed it in his case. “You want to meet me in the lobby and go together or should I give you directions and meet you there? I figure you have stuff you need to get from your office before heading out.”

“Will we actually be working?” And eating, especially Italian food, from his experience, had a tendency to make messes due to the sauce on every pasta dish. He knew they’d bring work with them, if only to keep up appearances, but would they actually have to work? The idea of even putting the papers on the table was...well a rsi, not to mention it was something he’d never grown up seeing as allowed. It would, back home, be considered rude and just not acceptable. So the idea of it, being that he’d never done work at a table when food was on that table, was still very wrong to him.
While he waited for an answer he got to work on the stack of papers he’d taken from the other. It was nothing he couldn’t do, he knew how to handle such paperwork, and he knew it would help the other and lighten the load they would both be facing once they got home from South Korea.
Glancing up at the female who had arrived, not having noticed the passage of time, he took the time to listen to her before standing. Stretching he pulled out his phone to check for anything before placing the finished work in one pile on Quinn’s desk and in another pile was the unfinished papers he’d taken. “Stop by my office with me and we’ll go together.” He offered to the other with a shrug of his shoulders. He knew it was best they get a move on, Quinn was still being watched and mother henned by people due to his...incident. Pushing himself too hard and he’d paid for it. It wasn’t like Seung didn’t know a thing or two, or more, about pushing yourself too hard. It had almost cost him Terry...and he couldn’t imagine them not being together, he just couldn’t, so he understood that the other needed to get used to not pushing himself so hard. It was something you had to adjust to not doing so much, it had taken himself almost losing Terry and time.

“Probably not,” Quinn absently shrugged before turning his full focus on his work. At least until the secretary showed up to chase him out. As they both got up and got ready to leave Quinn sent a grateful smile Seung’s way for the pile of finished work the other neatly stacked as he quickly started to order the space. “Sure. It shouldn’t take me more then a few minutes to get everything put away and get my stuff.” Besides if he took to long someone would likely be coming to look for him. Would there ever be a time when he wasn’t mother henned? Quinn had a feeling that the answer to that particular question was a resounding ‘NO’, which was frustrating to no end. “I’ll meet you there in just a bit.”
It wasn’t more then ten minutes later that he was knocking on Seung’s door, his jacket on and a laptop bag slung over his shoulder. “My car or yours? It's a little far to walk.”

Looking up from where he was finishing clearing his desk of things, he had everything stacked elsewhere so his desk was clear to actually work on, and flashed the other a bit of a smile. He’d already let Terry know that he was going to have a small dinner with Quinn, so he could actually have something at home as well, but he needed to discuss knight things with the other. Terry would understand, something for which he was grateful, having his partner involved in this war as well as both a blessing and a cause for concern and worry.
On one hand he didn’t have to hide injuries from the other, or lie about where he was going at night, he could be honest with his partner. The problem however was that if they were both in a bigger fight he worried over the other, and he knew Terry worried for him, it made them the others biggest weakness in a fight. Also, now that they were so close to having a child he was worried about if something bad happened to either, or both, of them. While they had Terry’s family it was still a worry for him. It meant they’d both have to do their best to keep safe.
“Mmm, yours. Don’t have the car. Only one between me and Terry and he has it. I take transportation to work.” Which wasn’t such a bad thing. He was rather used to it honestly. He could drive, had been able to for a while now, but even in Korea where he had a license public transportation was often times faster, cheaper, and just all around more efficient than driving yourself places.
“Just in case anything happens it is best he has the car.”

“Makes sense. I kind of gave up on public transportation after getting home so late.” Quinn shrugged. Living in his own place had a lot of perks but he had originally gotten it because of its proximity to the college. Now that he had graduated and was actually working full time spending a few hours a day on the bus just isn't feasible. Yeah he could continue to work while traveling but it wasn’t worth it, not when he could drive and be home in a much shorter time.
Without further ado the duo left the building and it wasn’t long before they were settling down into the backroom of the little Italian place Quinn had called earlier, menus open in front of them and large expanse of table clear in front of them. “Lets order then get to work,” He said, mostly for the benefit of the young waitress who was pouring them water. Any sensitive topics would have to wait until the food was delivered and they were left alone for a while, and even then they would have to be careful that nothing too incriminating was revealed. Honestly, if they were in a movie they would totally be cast as mobsters right then… or at least Quinn would be, Seung would likely be cast as a Yakuza or something. It would be a east meets west kind of flick.

“I don’t mind getting home late, I call ahead of time.” And they understood. He had learned, over time, to just call and let people know. It was part of his learning experience when he and Terry had patched things up. Keeping secrets, or doing things and not telling others, was not the best thing to do especially when he lived with his partner. Things he hadn’t done much with his parents he’d learned to do with Terry and his family, because it was how his partner and his family was, his mother still watched what they ate and made sure they took in enough calories.
When they finally got to the restaurant and Quinn was suggesting drinks he went with coffee, well espresso, since he doubted they had soju and he figured drinking wasn’t a need right now. This wasn’t business and he wasn’t a fan of wine really anyway, and that’s what they had a whole menu of - wines. Placing his drink order, and asking for garlic bread, he was wondering if at the end of he should order something to bring home for Terry. He could, and of course would, pay for it himself but it was a thought. He figured his husband might appreciate it, maybe just garlic bread for him and the family?
Once the waitress was gone, with their orders taken, he settled in as he reached for some papers in order to play off the role of working while eating. “I found the remains...in a coffin….opening it would be bad luck...improper.” He spoke, keeping his voice low. “Too dangerous to bring here much less home.” Back to Korea he meant. “I plan to tell him, if you want to come when I do, maybe something else can be brought and buried...a representation of sorts.” Something of his, something precious, to sort of bring his spirit back home where it had been born and belonged. He had served on Ganymede, yes, but he had been born in Korea and Seung understood the want to be buried in the land his family had lived and still did live. It didn’t matter if no one would visit his gave, or if it would be marked, though Seung would find a way to visit when he could.
“I can set something up at my wonder for him...an offering table with offerings and more. A room for him to remain.” Well for the body to remain in its coffin. It had most of what he’d need but not everything. He could do that.

Quinn spread out some paper, most pointless or doubles of stuff already back at the office, all to add to their subterfuge of work. “That's something at least. It's better than not doing anything at all.” The young man went back into his bag and withdrew a new stack of papers, this time handing them over to Seung. “Unfortunately what I’ve been able to find corresponds with your ultimate decision. It just isn’t feasible for the remains to be legally brought back into the country. The red tape alone is a pain in the a** for a normal person let alone trying to hide the age of the remains.” Quinn had spent a lot of time gathering the info from various public computers just to keep any connection from either of them. He wasn’t stupid, the young businessman knew that the government had certain words they watch out for and he didn’t want that kind of scrutiny to fall on himself or others that he knew. It would be all too easy for someone in the negaverse to connect the dots.
He dropped the topic as their waitress returned with their food, the dishes carefully spread out to avoid the papers they had scattered about. With a muttered ‘thank you’ the silence fell once more, broken only by the sounds of eating at least for a little bit before Quin drifted back to the topic they were there for. “A personal item might be easier to deal with, there shouldn't be too much red tape for stuff like that.” Unlike human remains a item, in theory, should be astronomical easier to deal with, “But I’ll do another check to see what customs will allow. We really don’t want to cause a international incident. As for going with you to let him know I can but it's up to you.” Quinn never really got the vibe that the Venice ancestor liked him, tolerated him sure, but not really liked him so he wasn’t sure how well the old ghost would appreciate having a stranger there when Seung told him that his request wasn’t possible. Some things were just better done in private but if Seung wanted the backup Quinn wouldn’t turn him down. “Do you know when your going to tell him? We are kind of cutting it close here. Oh and that reminds me, the stuff you need to get for the employees… use the company card.” It might have been a sentence that Seung said in passing back in the office but Quinn had heard him, even if he didn’t say anything at that moment.

“Yeah, and remains are remains. If they got caught they would be dated...people would want to check them, for obvious reason. Item not so much, they look most new though used, at my wonder.” Which was nice. He figured it was all due to magic, something he wasn’t about to complain about. That would hopefully help in making it possible to bring an item, something significant in value, back home to Korea in order to help his ancestor. He had high hopes, it would be easier as Quinn said.
Taking a bite of his food he took the time to look over papers, casually, and eat for several minutes. The food here was good, maybe he should take Terry for dinner once they got back from the trip to South Korea. Lifting his head, swallowing the bite of food he had in his mouth, he shook his head at Quinn’s words. “He likes you...but is like many older people. He is reserved and serious. With Terry no...but he knows.” He had likely known from the moment they had entered the living quarters together, he had a way of figuring things out. He was old and smart.
“It might help because I don’t know what he will wish me to take back since it can’t be his remains. I might need your help in holding it.” There really was no way for him to guess but it was better safe than sorry. “And another to assure him my words are true.” Though his ancestor was not likely to think him a liar, as he’d never shown such a sign to his ancestor, it was best for someone to back him and explain things if needed.
“I can go at any time you want. So when you are free we can go up there and speak with him.” They were cutting things close, very close, and he knew it. Setting his fork down, in favor of his drink, the dark haired male took a sip and listened to the other. “Mmm, already bought things here with my own. Some things best to buy back home due to the quality. I worry we might not get good...but what I got here was cheap, even for a lot. It’s why I bought it here.” Shrugging he smiled at the other. “I’ll take you shopping with me in Seoul and we can purchase the other items. We can stop there to purchase the items and drop off the gifts together.” That sounded like a good idea, especially so Quinn could help a bit, if he wanted, or add some special and more personal touch to things.
Taking another sip from his drink he lifted up some more papers for inspection, even if he was pretty sure he’d seen the same paper earlier in the others office.

Quinn kept his personal thoughts to himself because no matter what his friend said, Quinn still didn’t think his ancestor liked him all that much. Hell, he wasn’t even sure his own ancestor liked him especially not after the way she slapped him silly after his health scare. It didn’t matter really since it seemed like Seung wanted the back up so they would be doing a trip to Venice soon, at least it would be a change of pace from the endless paperwork he was currently dealing with.
After making decent headway into his own meal and mentally making a note to get something to take home for lunch tomorrow, Quinn sat back and sipped at his own drink. “Give me a day or two. I would like to see if there are any possible pitfalls for any objects he might suggest. I don’t expect any but never hurts to check.” It wouldn’t give him time to do the multiple library jumps like he had done for the remains search but there were still some basic precautions he could take and it wasn’t like the new search should pop up on anyone’s database… he hoped. They would just have to take that risk.
With that thought in mind the young man focused on the other part of their conversation, the much more mundane part of their conversation, the safer part. “That's fine with me. Just wish you had used it at first but can’t do much about it now. If you want to you can always put in a reimbursement form if you still have the receipt after all it is ultimately for the company. They can afford to be a little generous.” He grinned and turned back to his food, shuffling the papers they were using as a disguise only to stop when he spotted one of interest. “Oh hey, since I’ve got you here what do you make of this?” The paper was passed over and just like that the ‘not work’ work dinner turned into a work dinner. At least the food was damn good, hell of a lot better than sandwiches or cold pizza.

“You know I won’t put in to be paid back.” He said smiling, it was true he wasn’t about to do that. It might be for the business, for employees, but it wasn’t anything too big. It would get more expensive once they got to Korea though. “The company can cover what we get in Korea for them.” Taking a fork full of food, his way of putting a period on the end of that topic. That was how it would be and Quinn he figured would accept it, the other really couldn’t make him produce a receipt anyway.
When a paper of interest came up, Quinn bringing it up to show him, he turned his focus onto it. Forking slipping out of his mouth and settling onto his plate. “Mmm...let me see.” Reaching out to take it in order to look it over. If the other wanted an opinion he’d give it, once he finished reading it. How was he not surprised a fake working dinner turned into a real working dinner?
He wasn’t upset though, not at all, it was peaceful and the company was good. Quinn...he was glad he’d met him, and even more glad he worked for and with him. “I think it can work...but.” Trailing off he slowly went into how some things could do for a change though, talking between bites for food as he wanted to finish his food whilst it was still warm.
