Adjusting his bag full of snack food for later, curtsy of Fon actually being awake to make him a snack bag, Orphe stepped off the bus to look at the museum he was visiting today. Truth be told he was a bit surprised at the number of field trips he had gone on recently and the amount he had to socialize for them. Being a strangely dressed Hallowed often lead to a reluctance to socialize. However it got him out of classes for the day and art was always fun to look at… most of the time. He just wished he could have skipped the whole teaming up with a learning buddy part. Art was better enjoyed with friends, although he was often told you couldn’t make friends if you never talked to anyone. Plus his last field trip adventure ended up with a friend… so maybe this time wouldn’t be so bad? He walked over to their starting spot and listened as the caretaker rattled off the rules and assigned them all to partners. Well here went nothing. “Guess we’re partners. I’m Orphe although you probably figured that out from when they paired us together” He started.

Talia quietly stepped off the bus herself, making sure to move out of the way as soon as possible. She was still nervous about all of this, since it was her first field trip and she didn't want to mess it up. They had packed a lunch and some snacks, the former if the field trip took too long or lunch wasn't provided for some reason, and she had headed off on the bus with everyone else. As a geist, she was still nervous about interacting with most of her classmates, or any other freshling really, and would have rather just stayed in her room to read or perhaps look up information that she was going to learn on this field trip. But no, she had to go on it, and although she was excited to go to the museum itself, she was scared about having to do it with a buddy. Most other freshlings didn't like geists, and so she was nervous about pairing up with someone who may want to get her in trouble or who would be making fun of her the whole time. She walked over to where the group was, and listened herself, trying to remember all of the rules and what they were supposed to do. After all, she didn't want to get in trouble for not following them! She then looked around for her partner, a mummy-looking freshling, and nodded at him. "Yes. I'm Talia. I hope we can get along for this field trip." She said, almost mumbling the last part of it. Who knew what sort of reaction she would get for all of this.

Orphe briefly looked at his partner now that introductions were out of the way. He did note that they seemed to be a Geist, but to him that was nothing special. After all Fon was part Geist, and many of his uncles and cousins were part Geist. Sure he wasn't related to any of them but family wasn't always blood. " mmm that would be ideal" he replied to her statement of hoping they got along. "So teacher apparently wants us to pick a painting and write about it. There any style of painting that is your favorite or any you want to visit first?" He asked since he didn't have any set goals in mind himself. Well obviously more than pick a picture for the assignment.

Well, at least Orphe seemed nice enough, even if he was kind of scary-looking! But Talia didn't mind, as they always say, 'you can't judge a book by it's cover'! She let herself smile a bit and felt more relaxed as the other was allowing her to be his partner for the trip. It was nice to feel like she could be somewhere without bothering someone. Her eyebrows scrunched together as she tried to think of any style that she was particularly interested in. She didn't really have any favorite styles though, since she didn't know much about paintings, and wasn't sure what they had here. "Uh, not really. I don't have a favorite. Maybe we can walk around until we find something that looks interesting?" She said, organizing her things on herself a bit more so that she wouldn't drop anything. It was really the only thing she could think of. But hopefully if they wandered around they wouldn't have to for too long! It might just take forever and then they wouldn't have enough time to write and turn in their assignment!

Well it was a good start at least. Talia didn’t have excess energy and they hadn’t said anything about his state of dress or his mutations, so it was a good start to the day. Waiting for her to pick what she wanted to do, he looked outside of the museum, mostly at the other people getting to know their partners. He didn’t want to make it seem like he was pressuring her in any way. “Sounds like a pretty solid idea. Definitely works for me” Orphe replied adjusting his own supplies and started walking. If he recalled correctly the café and gift shop was on the first floor, they would have to go up the stairs to start actually getting into the art which was ancient grimm first. He’d actually probably pick a fallen or geist painting since they had most of the ocean art. Ah he should attempt conversation right? “What made you decide to come on the fieldtrip?” yeah that was a safe starting topic.

Orphe accepted her idea, and when he started to walk off, Talia quickly followed him, making sure that she wasn't too far behind, and also trying not to trip on anything. It was quiet for a bit as Talia continued to follow behind the other, when Orphe suddenly asked her a question. She hesitated a bit, surprised that he was asking, but glad that he was making some small talk. "Well, I just thought that getting out of the classroom to see real art, instead of digitally or as photos would be nice. And also it's good to get out of the classroom every once in a while without including recess. I figured I would learn a bit more here than just reading about it in a book." She smiled a bit. It had taken quite a bit of courage on her part, but she had managed to gather the courage to ask and it had been accepted! And since she had a partner that wasn't wanting to make fun of her as a geist, then this would probably be a fun field trip! She tried to continue the conversation, hoping that she wasn't being too intruding. "Um, why'd you come on the field trip? You want to see the paintings for yourself?"

“It’s a good reason. I never thought that photographs really ever captured the actual painting. Something gets lost in translation I suppose,” Orphe pondered thinking about Talia’s response. Seeing that the geist was following him and quite used to being an older sibling Orphe slowed his pace a bit so it was easier for his companion to follow and not trip. He hadn't really ever developed that sluggishness that other litches fell prey too. “I find kids are meaner in a classroom setting. It’s almost like the familiarity works them up in a way” Orphe started trying not to dip into being all philosophical. His siblings always teased him for sounding old at times. “I go on field trips because everyone seems nicer because they are too distracted by new things. Well that and the fact I like learning. Even though I’ve already been here a couple times with my dad, I always try to learn something new.” He stopped at one of the paintings as he answered. The picture was just a simple and rather large painting of the sea during a storm. Truthfully it was always his favorite for some unknown reason.

Talia nodded in silent agreement with his assessment of the situation. She had noticed that the other slowed down a bit, and was happy that he was trying to be considerate of her. Hardly anyone ever did that. The fact that geists were still discriminated against in such awful ways, well she hadn't found too many others even willing to give her the time of day. "Yeah. I wish it was different. I suppose they feel safer at school, but if the teachers actually did something about it..." She couldn't even say it without crying so she stopped. Why wouldn't they do anything? "Ooh, so you've been here before? That's nice. I guess I just like to stay where I am too much to go out and see things. But it must be nice to be able to go out with someone and visit a place like this." She said, stopping with him and looking at the painting. After a little while of the two of them looking at it she asked, "You want to do the assignment about this one?"

“Oh I’ve seen their attempts. Most of them aren’t good. It’s like they’ve forgotten how to be a kid. I knew one person that had to spend a week with their tormentor because obviously the two just didn’t understand each other. Of course in that instance it worked out but most of the time it hardly does” Orphe replied shaking his head. However he noticed that it was an uncomfortable subject and wisely turned towards the picture. He had younger sisters so he was used to girls crying, still made him uncomfortable though. “Yeah, dad likes to come here for some odd reason considering he doesn’t really like still art other than photography. However staying where you are and reading isn’t bad either. It just depends on the person, but yes it is nicer with people.”When she mentioned doing this painting, he thought about it. It would get the assignment out of the way and then it didn’t matter the pace they saw everything else at. Besides it was his favorite painting. “Yeah, I think I do” Orphe added. SSBrosB next post should make it growing requirment length if you want to wrap it up?

Talia was glad that she had someone that she could vent to a little bit. She could always go and vent to Lailah, but she never knew if the fallen was actually listening or contemplating whether or not bees knew that they were striped. However, the conversation was too sad for her, and she was glad that Orphe had decided to change the subject to the painting. "I think it's okay to just do what you like. If it's going out with others or just reading by yourself. Whatever makes you happy." She said, a bit quietly. She had just remembered there was a puzzle she wanted to do and she hadn't finished it yet! She was glad that Orphe would be okay with doing this painting. It meant that they could work on it that much sooner, and could take notes now and leisurely see the rest of the museum before they finally needed to get back on the bus. And it would be over all too soon for her. Nasaiki All right end post from me, thanks so much!
