"Maribelle, my usual, please."

Completely ignoring the fact that there was someone ahead of her, Alix approached the counter while digging in her new little purse, careful to not get the zipper stuck. But as soon as she fished her wallet out and looked up, she was greeting by a face that was scowling, and certainly NOT her favorite barista.

"Wh- Where is Maribelle? This isn't her day off! ...She what? Well, she did tell you my usual, didn't she? ...Seriously? Ugh."

Uncerimoniously directed to the back of the now-longer line, Alix smoothed out her dress as she waited, and once she was up, rambled off her usual order. It was a wonder that it was understood, it was so complicated and intricate with exact directions...but, really, Alix had faith in the cafe's employees. And at the end, she tipped handsomely.

Making her way to her usual spot, Alix carefully sat down, and from her same little purse pulled out a book. A perfect cover to, well, people-watch.

Drystan walked in just as a girl was rather rudely directed to the back of the line. His curiosity piqued he watched as she appeared to fidget a bit with the dress she was wearing. Realizing she was a Neko he let his attention drift in line to a philosophical question of just was it was that kept Neko's and Grimms apart......

Tuning back in just as the femme in front of him reached the front of the line and rather emphatically rambled off an order that made the barista's eyes glaze over and as the Neko walked away she looked to Drystan in a panic.

" Its ok Babe" he shot a winning smile at the barrista " I couldn't help but overhear- she ordered a medium in a large cup caramel machiatto- a quad shot but upside down so the shots go in first, along with the two pumps vanilla sweetener- then the milk heated to 130 degrees, no foam so you don't let the nozzle go all the way to the bottom, and you'll want a thermometer to check the milk temp, no whip just topped with cream and caramel." He said it back slow enough that the new girl could get it, ordered his own dark quad mocha with cinnamon and waited for the two drinks to come out.

Once they did he headed towards where he'd seen the Neko go- and quickly spotted her with a book open in her lap. " Well Princess, here is your coffee- should be perfectly as you ordered" Drystan stated with a wink as he set the drink down on the table in front of her. "Humor me- Take a sip?" and he paused waiting to see how this particular femme would react.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Her choice of literature was so intriguing that she actually got sucked into it. A story about a woman facing mounting pressure from her parents to marry? And she is introduced to a handsome and upper-class man, sparks fly? There is obvious chemistry between the two, but the man's conflicting nature threatens the fledgling relationship, and it...it was good enough that she just wasn't paying attention.

At least, not until she was greeted by what she would call a proper title. By all rights, she was, in fact, a 'princess'. Alix got her way, and if she didn't, daddy would be there to pay for it. Usually. On her own like this it was more of challenge, but she wouldn't say no to...

...A handsome stranger with a conflicting nature of sorts coming to her, drink in hand, and calling her by what she should rightfully be called. What were the odds?

"It should be." She gave the man a sweet little smile as she lowered her book to take her cup from his hands. Though his request was a bit...odd, she was absolutely craving the drink, and as such, took a sip.

And her nose immediately wrinkled, followed by a sound that could only be described as a disappointed huff.

"Three vanilla pumps." A sigh escaped her as she took another sip, sinking back down into her chosen chair to drink her coffee and read her book. "It happens though. It's a lot to remember if you're not Maribelle."

"...Did you need something, by the way?" It only just now occurred to her that this stranger may or may not have gotten her coffee for her in order to get some sort of tip. Or, maybe... "Or are you just that type?"

Drystan quickly noted the title of the book before it was set down- "Pride and Prejudice" A classic tale for a classy lady. He also noted that she didn't comment on his choice of epithets for her- fascinating.

He actually looked concerned at the face she made and then surprise crossed his face. " Really.......... I told her two pumps.....you ordred a medium in a large cup caramel machiatto- a quad shot but upside down, two vanilla, the milk at 130- so it doesn't burn your tongue, No foam and no whip- just cream and caramel" He rattled it all off without thinking.

"Well, I don't know what you mean by "Type" but now that you mention it, yes I did need something- for you to get the correct coffee you ordered as a matter of fact.." Drystan set his mocha on the table and with an apologetic look said "I'll be right back" and gave another roguish wink as he strode back up to the barista and gently got the attention of one of them, In cool calm tones he explained that the ladies coffee didn't come out correct- and could they please re-make it. Of course all of this was done with his roguish charm making the barista flush as she hastened to comply with his oh-so-simple requests. This time Drystan stood and watched her make the drink, returning again with a new fresh cup.

"I really hope it should be correct now- I did watch her make it........." He rolled his eyes slightly to show what he thought of baristas. "A perfect cup is hard to come by- and a Princess deserves the best" He said with a nod to her as he bent to pick up his coffee.

Was he-- Oh. Oh no. Oh she couldn't feel more embarrassed if she tried. Unable to even look over towards the barista's counter she instead buried her nose into her book. Hmm, yes, fascinating, the blurry words were so good to stare at.

But her eyes needed a break from such a thing for a while and...wow, he...had a nice voice, didn't he? Maybe. She honestly didn't know right now, but peeking over the top of her book as he returned with a second cup of delicious caramel-y goodness...Oh she was embarassed.

"You didn't really need to do that...." She didn't sound angry, not at all. She did, however, sigh and let her book fall back down into her lap, picking up her first cup of coffee to drink that down at least. and with being referred to as a princess again, she couldn't help but smile a little.

"But thank you. I'm surprised though...How did you remember all of what I said...?"

Drystan looked the Neko in the eyes and winked cheekily. "I didn't need to obviously, I chose to..... And your welcome." He featured her with a winning smile. "Well, I have a good memory for things and a pretty little princess like you seemed worth listening to- and....I may or may not have been a coffee baristo myself and be used to taking such orders........" He trailed off and looked pointedly at the seat on the couch. " May I join you?"

That would explain things.

"Well. I'm glad you have a good memory in that case. Still, they do get things wrong from time to time." Alix took another sip of her coffee, wrinkling her nose the tiniest bit. It was just that fraction of a little too much sweet. To others it may not have made a difference, but for her it was as strong as shoving an entire sugar cube in her mouth. but, she paid for it, and another, hopefully perfect cup was waiting for her.

At his request she paused mid-grab of the other cup. No one had ever even dared to sit in the seat next to her chosen couch, yet? This? This...Grimm was asking to sit next to her?

"Of course." What was she saying. "It's not like I own it." What the heck. "And you may yet make for good company." Why was she saying these things?!

"As much as I enjoy you calling me that, my name is Alix, by the way."

He watched as she paused and yet seemed to speak without the knowledge of her head and couldn't help but smile. The Neko was quite cute now that he looked at her more closely what with the beautiful glowing eyes and flowers adorning her. "I am aware you don't own it, but it is only polite to ask, and I do hope that I will be good company." He looked slightly surprised as she gave her name. "What a lovely name for one equally lovely. I am Drystan, Drystan Rhys. It is my pleasure to make your aquaintance. "And with that he sat down next to the neko, careful to not sit on her skirt.

"May I inquire what you're reading?"

For a moment it looked like she was going to ignore him further, returning to her book.

"'The tumult of her mind was now painfully great. She knew not how to support herself, and from actual weakness sat down and cried for half-an-hour. Her astonishment, as she reflected on what had passed, was increased by every review of it.--'" She started, her voice low enough that the rest of the shoppe wouldn't be disturbed, but enough that Drystan could hear.

"'That she should receive an offer of marriage from Mr. Darcy! That he should have been in love with her for so many months! So much in love as to wish to marry her in spite of all the objections which had made him prevent his friend's marrying her sister, and which must appear at least with equal force in his own case--was almost incredible!--it was gratifying to have inspired unconsciously so strong an affection.'"

Pausing, she picked up her newer cup of coffee, taking a sip from it and making a pleased almost-purr sound. "Pride and Prejudice. A classic." She finally answered him with a smile.

A slight look of confusion crossed Drystans' face as it looked like Alix was going to continue her book. The look changed quickly to one of delighted surprise as she read aloud. He followed raptly and as she named a Mr. Darcy he was sure of the book, but waited untill she had stopped reading and told him the title before he spoke. And a good thing he waited too because that almost purr sound she made might have made his voice crack.

Clearing his throat for good measure he nodded genially in her direction. "Quite the classic, not that I would have expected you of all people to be reading drivel you understand. Its just..." As he trailed off he looked a little wistful. "Not many still have appreciation for the classics" He took another drink of his coffee and tried to think about where to take the conversation next.

He decided to try and figure out what Uni she attended. " You've a lovely voice for reading Princess Alix" He couldn't help but smile as he combined the names. "Do you do theater?"

"...Thank you." As always, she was thankful for the soft fur that covered her body as it did quite well in hiding her blushing when it happned. Such as now.

"Well, don't misunderstand Drys," He'd already earned a nickname from her, "I find myself enjoying drivel from time to time. From books that were written by teens, for teens, to tired political propaganda, and...well. Smut. Especially the smut written by people who have obviously never actually done lewd things. My favorite is well-written romance, though."

Giggling, she took one more sip of her coffee before setting the cup, and her book down.

"Not professionally, I've tried out a few times but the practice schedules always seem to interfere with my classes. though I've attended so many stage productions it's a wonder I'm not a VIP everywhere..." She trailed off for a moment, seemingly lost in thought, but her ears soon perked up as she looked at him in focus again. "What about yourself? Do you enjoy books or theatre...?"

Pleased that she took a compliment so well he couldn't help but wonder if he was perhaps having other effects on her... this might develop to become more than just a chance meeting.

With an exertion of will Drystan pulled his head out of the clouds in time to hear her next words. His eyes widened slightly at the nickname, but did his best to stay cool and suave-but what she said next threw that out the window. He found himself fascinated with the shape of her muzzle as she formed the words, with the tone of her voice as she so casually discussed things a "Lady" usually would flush and hide to say. His interest was more than piqued. It would seem that there was a good deal more to this Princess than he'd thought at first. He couldn't help but smile at her giggle, it was quite cute- and it began to dawn on him that the Princess might be flirting back... which in turn made him blush.

As she turned the conversation to him he tried to seem nonchalant- " Well of course I do, I attend Grendel afterall. If one goes there it is practically and admin req that you have a love of books, art, and theater." Realizing he was dangerously close to giving away too much, if he hadn't already, he sought a way to turn it back to her- grabbing another sip to cover the pause and give his nerves a moment to settle. Theater seemed to be a safe subject so he went on with that. " What types of Theatrical productions do you enjoy? Musicals? Operas? "

It was amazing, how she went from feeling defensive to feeling relaxed. She could feel it in the way her dress rubbed against the fur on her body. It wasn't tense as it usually was, and it was refreshing.

"...Huh. I would wonder how I haven't seen you around, but I...Have never been good with socializing during school hours. If I'm honest." Another giggle and she leaned back in her seat to delicately cross her legs.

"You name it, I probably like it.Musicals are a favorite, opera is majestic, and I LOVE a bit of comedy." she admitted, "I...Really like to laugh."

Drystan watched in facination as the tension seemed to drain from her body.

".... Oh I am usually around, we've probably seen one another in passing maybe?" He wasn't lying but truth be told he wasn't OUT and around often... given his Major. But he pushed that thought out of mind lest something of it show on his face.

" Comedy huh?" He gave her a saucy little grin. In his mind he began to wonder how the Princess would react to being tickled.......but now was not the time to let his thoughts go down that road in spite of her admission.

"Comedy is always a comfort- Though I will admit a good drama gets my heart going......."
He trailed off looking at her intently for a moment before continuing. " And musicals are a lovely blend of comedy and drama." He started to lean into her but stopped short of her personal space, but it was enough to convey interest in their conversation. " With that purty reading voice I'd imagine you have a good singing voice as well?" He queried trying to keep his thoughts innocent,
