Ciel just finished up her homework as she stretched out. She looked out the window to the clear nights sky. She decided to go to Hyperborea tonight. She needed to get away from things for a bit. She put on her coat and made her way down to the nearby park.

She powered up in a flash her knightly aura filling the area. She allowed her auric senses to reach out, she wanted to make sure there weren't any officers or youma causing trouble before she took off into space.

She didn't sense any chaos but she did detect one aura, a page of Neptune. She decided to wait for a few minutes to see if the page needed anything. She always to tried to offer help or guidance to pages if they wanted it.

Sadie was feeling a bit bored and lonely. There were lots of places made for people facing just that predicament. There were bars. There were clubs. There were libraries. However, she felt that her best chance of meeting someone interesting would be meeting someone magical, so she powered up.

Then, after she hadn't even walked very far at all, she had that sense again, the aura. This one felt especially bright and nice. She followed it and found herself at a cute park. She had to dodge a few trees and streetlamps, but she covered ground much quicker than normal with these newfound powers, and before long she found herself face to face with a very magical looking girl. Success!

"Hello there," she said, the lamplight revealing a soft smile on her face, before she fully took in the girl's appearance and blinked a few times. "You're glowing," she said. "That's new, unless I've been missing something obvious which is extremely possible." She pulled down a glove and squinted at her elbow, which seemed to be its regular tan. That didn't mean there weren't markings hiding somewhere, but even she knew better than to start loosing clothes in front of a probable minor.

"Anyway, I'm Pendour, a Neptune Page."

Hyperborea offered the woman a friendly smile as she leaned on her staff. She was not unaccustomed to people, especially pages and new senshi, being curious about her markings. Heck she remembered her own fascination with Penthesilea's markings so long ago. She looked at her glowing iridescent marks and laughed a little.

"Not new." She responded. "But they aren't exactly common either." She clarified.

"They represent an unshakable bond between me and my wonder. It protects me from corruption and grants me energy to share with others in need." She explained.

"I am Hyperborea, knight of the Cosmos." She greeted the page, the young knight offering her hand to the woman.

"Are you newly awoken?"

Pendour reached out and gave a handshake, her grip maybe just a little on the light side. "It's a pleasure, miss," she said.

Then, her practiced tone gave way to a quick, light laugh. "Yes, I'm new." She reached down to fidget with her charm bracelet, twisting the little Neptune symbol between her thumb and forefinger. "Very new. I think I'm starting to piece things together a little, but I didn't know about Cosmos, for example, just the planets."

Of course if powers came from wonders, not just planets, that opened things up a bit. "But it's good to know I'm not the only one who's out in evening wear instead of armor, although you've got a little, and about the glowing. That seems both aesthetic and practical."

She stopped to think for just long enough to rub at her gloves, to reassure them that it was fine and that they were lovely even as not-armor, and then to run her tongue over her teeth. "How do you bond with a wonder, exactly?"

"Well I would be happy to answer any questions you might have, I remember being a page we aren't given very much in terms of directions or explanations." She offered.

"Its not just the Cosmos, there is also the surrounding around the solar system and a few stars that also have knights." She clarified.

She laughed."Yes I suppose it is both aesthetic and very practical."

She thought for a moment at the woman's next question."There is no one answer to that. Everyone who has achieved transcendence, that is what we call these markings by the way, has achieved it in a different way. For me personally I found out my wonder was polluted with a miasma so I connected my mind to my code piece and used it's power to burn away the miasma. It nearly absorbed my consciousness but when I broke away from the code piece I was glowing." She explained the abridged version of her own tale.

Pendour blinked. Questions? She'd come out to try to learn more about what was going on, but being directly asked what she wanted to know was too much. Instead, she just stared for a while as the other night talked about transcendence in a way that didn't quite make sense, her fingers still stroking her braid.

"Miasma?" she eventually mumbled. "Actually, that I think I can imagine. The Code, though? What's that?" She almost made it sound like some sort of weapon, but just the word code didn't sound so bad. A pattern, maybe a computer, not something that almost ate minds.

"Wonders. Maybe we should start with that. I've been wondering," she paused, broke into a small smile, gave a split second laugh. "Wondering. Wonders. Ah. Anyway, I've been... curious about what they are, exactly. You speak as if they're physical places, but they're where our magic comes from, yes?"

"The Code is the name of the force that powers us knights. I'm sure when you awoke an object just appeared for you and then when you touched it you became Pendour right? The Code was what sent it to you and it will eventually make you a squire and then a knight. Every wonder has a piece of the code in some form and that is where we draw our magic from." She explained.

She let out a good natured giggle at the woman's question. "They are definitely physical places but they are also what we draw magic from. Wonders can vary wildly in size and shape some are a single building while others are sprawling cities but they are all places that were of great importance thousands of years ago and they all exist to guard their code piece." She explained.

"Actually if you are curious I was planning to take a trip to my wonder tonight, if you would like I could take you there with me." She offered.

Pendour listened attentively until all at once a thought hit her and she smiled, first at her shoes, then, remembering, at Hyperborea. "So you're saying that there's a kind of power, a force if you will, that has its own consciousness and followers called Knights that oppose evil in various beautiful important places all over the galaxy?" Her voice was light, but not mocking. The other Knight seemed to know what she was talking about. "Well, this seems to have more than a little in common with Star Wars."

Quick parallels with science fiction movies aside, Pendour still didn't really know what was going on, and she felt that seeing, rather than hearing, would help clarify things much faster. "Of course there are obviously lots of differences, too. We're thrown into this instead of being trained, for one thing, and," she trailed off, chewing her lip. "Well, I can't comment on wonders at the moment, obviously, but basically, yes, I'd love to go with you."

References: City (1, 2, 3) Trees

Hyperborea laughed out loud. "Yes I suppose we do. Though I still haven't received my lightsaber yet." She said with a joking air.

She took the woman's hand's gently. "I pledge my life and loyalty to the Cosmos, and to Hyperborea. I humbly request your aid, so that in return I may give you mine." She recited the oath and in a flash the pair disappeared from the Earth.

They reappeared on the Acropolis hill the great stone city stretching out beneath spreading out to the slightly crumbling walls around city. Above and around them was an infinite expanse of stars sparkling like diamonds, three large purple stars stood out against the rest. The warm cosmic air carried rainbow colored cherry blossom petals past the pair.

"I welcome you Pendour of Neptune to the city hidden within the stars, Hyperborea." Hyperborea said doing a curtsy for added effect.

So there were no lightsabers. That was probably good, all things considered. Then more people would just die. "Well, we have our bonded items from this Code, don't we?" she asked, summoning her ocarina to her hand with a small, soft smile. She glanced at it for a moment, then shook her head. "You're right. It's not the same."

That decided, she willingly reached out her hand to the other knight, listened to her speak, watched in awe as the city fade away, watched another city reappear in its place before she could blink. "Oh," she murmured as soon as she realized what had happened and got her first glimpse of the breathtaking landscape. Pendour spun slowly, drinking it in. It was alien, but not in the sci-fi movie way. It was more, well, magical, like someone had dunked Greek ruins into a bath of starlight.

"This is beautiful," she said. "This is beautiful." She turned back when the girl spoke and smiled at her little curtsy, but she was perfectly serious when she gave a deep nod and said, "Hyperborea, I am honored."

Then, she looked back up. "Have you found anything interesting here?"

"Merci!" She said with a bright smile she liked seeing people's eyes go wide in surprise and excitement at seeing her wonder, it made her pride as a knight swell.

"I've found a few interesting thing." She said with a chuckle. She summoned her war horn to her hand. She willed her magic into it and Cerynitis appeared, her golden antlers and bronze hoofs gleamed in the starlight, her white coat was pure and clean, and her purple eyes matched Hyperborea's own.

"This is Cerynitis, she is my companion and friend. Most knights eventually find a companion like this and they help us in battle either as mounts or attacking or maybe healing or protection " She said as she petted the friendly doe's head. The doe walked over and nudged the page in a friendly manner.

"Come on I'll show you around the acropolis." She said motioning for the page and the deer to follow her through the giant gate house. In the court yard there was a line of rainbow colored cherry blossom trees that lead to and giant bronze statue of a knight holding a golden javelin in the air. There was a football stadium sized temple and what looked like it might have been a training area and forge. There was also a very large house and a building with steam rolling out from between the columns.

Pendour blinked again as a deer popped into existence. She kept thinking that she'd accepted the fact that magic was real and then something else surprising would come up. At least it was another lovely thing. Eventually she was sure she would run into the so-called bad guys and whatever tricks they brought, but for now she would enjoy this place.

"Oh, you're beautiful," she said, reaching our to stroke Cerynitis's velvet ears and giving a bit of a laugh as she got nudged in return. She turned back to Hyperborea. "That sounds very useful, yes. Did you find her here, then?"

She followed the knight as directed, continuing to look around like a bright eyed tourist, her stares punctuated with the occasional "Oh wow." The trees were breathtaking. The buildings were nice as well, although they were a bit militaristic for Pendour's taste. She pursed her lips. "Hmm. Have you been to any other wonders, Hyperborea? How similar would they be?"

Although if the outfits were any indication, they might be different. Pendour didn't think she'd fit into a barracks in her evening wear, but well, they were knightsin the end.

I'm so sorry this took so long sweatdrop

Cerynitis twitched her ears in apparent appreciation for the stroking. "Useful and cute." Hyperborea said in a joking giggle. "I found this here." She said holding up her gilded war horn. "All of these magical creatures seem to be bound to items like this or perhaps these items call them here from some other world but regardless we call them to us by sharing our energy with them. On Earth I can keep her out for around a minute but here my wonder is feeding me energy so I can keep her summoned for as long as I like." She explained.

"I've been to few others and it depends." She answered. "The planetary ones seemed to loosely follow an architectural style sometimes. But overall I would say they are all pretty different in style, size and purpose. The one thing they all have in common is that they all hide a piece of the Code."

"Over there is my ancestral home." She said point to a long house. "I sleep there when I stay here overnight." She explained.

"There is the open air baths, they are kept magically heated." She said pointing to a building with steam rolling out between columns.

"And over there is a magical forge. I can make little magical trinkets there." She explained.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 31, 2018 1:14 pm

Pendour's smile widened as Hyperborea explained her summon. After giving the deer a final par on the nose, she turned so that she could listen to the other knight more fully. The horn was yet another thing that was both lovely and seemed useful, which Pendour appreciated. "That's something I'll have to look out for," she said. "Did you know it was going to be able to summon her?"

She looked around as Hyperborea went on about the different places around the wonder, and she gave them each an appreciative look even as the overall millitary theme became more clear and something solid started to settle in her stomach. She hoped that there would be no armies on whatever place would be hers.

"Baths sound amazing," she said, and that was the truth. Magical trinkets didn't sound terrible either. She found herself liking the wonder despite herself.

Ask questions, don't assume,
she reminded herself, and she said, "Do you now what the original purpose of your wonder was?"

"Well my ancestor was the one who originally told me about her and the horn so yeah. But I'm not sure if other knights who don't have ancestors know when they find their summoning item." She supposed that would be a good question to ask Camelot next time she meet him.

"They are a god send after training." She said with a laugh. "Nothing soothes sore muscles like a nice relaxing bath."

"Hmm well there were three main purposes to Hyperborea the first was as a trading hub, it was the center of a vast trading empire across the stars, that was the purpose most of its people knew but it also had a deeper purpose." She explained.

"See my wonder is situated along the route to the Cauldron and my ancestors took to guiding lost souls back to the birthplace of stars, the knights of Hyperborea would offer hospitality to travelers and guidance to find it. One of my ancestors..." She said motioning to a large bronze statue of a knight holding up a golden lance. "even designed this statue so that it would catch the light of the three suns of Hyperborea just right to shine a path to the cauldron." She explained.

"Finally there is the purpose I already mentioned." She motioned for the other girl to follow her as she approached a sealed entrance leading down into the hill. She placed her hand on the slab concealing the stairway down she willed a bit of her magic into it and it slid into the earth. "The first knight of Hyperborea built a magical labyrinth to conceal the code piece here, it is enchanted so that only a knight of Hyperborea can figure out its ever shifting maze." She explained. "Come on I'll show it to you." She offered.
