Daytime was sometimes boring in Itsuki’s world. With Zach in school or working, and Melody at her job, he would grow bored of surfing the internet and would head outside to catch a ride into Destiny City proper to do some exploration. During the day, the Mau was less likely to be harassed by Negaverse agents or the youma soldiers of Chaos, and he could be adorable and beg for food. This was one such day. With the weather warming up slowly from winter, and with spring just around the corner, more and more people were taking to the streets to soak up the sunshine.

Sitting on a chair at the local cafe with the lunch rush just starting, the lilac point observed a line forming in the main dining room, with servers holding large platters full of sandwiches and soups. Delicious! Maybe one of them would bring him a piece of bread? Or, even better, a bit of sandwich! His mouth was watering simply at the thought.

...that is, until a particular young lady caught his attention.

Ears perking, the Mau’s supernatural senses were tingling, his mental radar pinging as the Mau swiveled his head to watch her. Yes indeed, this was a senshi! Or rather, one with potential. Torn between duty and lunchtime, Itsuki fluffed up and dropped down from the chair to pad along the sidewalk to follow Kaileen. Lunch could wait - duty was imperative. If Itsuki didn’t stop to talk to her now, she may disappear again, or worse - be found by the Negaverse. It was a Mau’s utmost duty to find and awaken and teach newcomers to the fold. Kaileen would be no different that the others the lilac point had met and awakened.

Trotting up beside Kaileen’s feet, the cat tried to get her attention. “Nya~? Nya~”

Ooh, pizza!

No, he had important Mauvian business to attend to. Pizza could wait!

Being picked up, Itsuki didn’t fight back or even hiss at Kaileen. Instead, he squeezed his eyes shut, curled his little fluffy feet and fluffed up to be as adorable and presentable as possible. The cuter the cat, the less likely the sleeping senshi would disappear. However, being out in the open would be dangerous to both, so while Itsuki so adored snuggles, Kaileen had to be directed somewhere more private.

Wiggling free of her grasp, the cat landed back on the concrete safely and turned around to meow at her. You have to follow me~ Follow the kawaii neko~ Bunting her shins with his forehead and pulling on her shoelaces, Itsuki did everything he could to be enticing enough to follow. Being unable to safely talk to her was a challenge. “Nya~!”

Trotting along ahead of the young lady, the lilac point would stop occasionally and look behind his shoulder to make sure he was being properly followed. Around the corner from the pizza restaurant were several alleyways, one of which curved into a more secluded area behind an apartment complex still being constructed. With no tenants, there were fewer prying eyes. Itsuki’s presence also scared away mice and other vermin. Not exactly the cleanest of places, but it was secluded and private, which is what this situation really called for. “Nya~”

Once Kaileen was safely away from public view (and probably very confused), the little cat hopped up on a closed metal dumpster where construction materials were being thrown away. Now, he was closer to Kaileen’s eye level.

“Hello!” said he, a perfectly normal, young human male voice originating from the little fluffy thing. “Thank you for the offer of pizza. Can I have a slice later, when we’re done here? Please don’t be scared! I can talk, but… Other people can’t know that. It’s our secret, okay? I have something very special for you! But you have to promise not to be scared, okay~? My name is Itsuki! It’s very nice to meet you~” Stretching out his paws before him, Itsuki made to bow before Kaileen. This time, he remember not to use copious amounts of Japanese in his introduction. That would definitely confuse and scare her!

"How do you know you're not dreaming?"

Good point. Itsuki brought a paw to his chin to consider this; a gesture any human would perform, but a cat? Incredibly unusual.

"Oh!" An idea popped into his fuzzy brain and Itsuki held out a paw to Kaileen. "You can't feel thing in dreams, right? So... why not touch my squishy toe-beans? Everybody loves squishy toe-beans. That's part of the reason why cats are popular on the Internet!"

Perhaps that would assuage her concern, but Kaileen had every right to be confused. There was a cat talking to her, after all. "Onegai, could you tell me your name? Eh, please! I'm on a mission, and I'm supposed to find people like you! But there's a lot to cover and I don't want to get too far without knowing your name! I'm Itsuki~"

After finding out her name, the rest would come a little easier. Of course, finding out that one was actually a magical warrior with untapped potential would be enough to make anyone question what they ate last night. One thing at a time! Names, then henshin pens, then... a bunch of other important tidbits.

Itsuki was shocked that this poor girl punched herself!

"Oh! Please don't do that!" he squeaked, covering his mouth in shock with his paws. "It's okay - talking cats are unusual, aren't they? But back to my mission!"

Puffing up his chest, Itsuki put a paw upon it to explain. "Talking cats like me, we can sense people's unawakened magical powers! I know that sounds crazy, but trust me when I say that the city could really use your help! I can unlock that magical power of yours if you want to help protect the city from the evil people and the monsters you might see on TV! Only people like you with magical powers can stop them, but it's very dangerous, so I don't want you to agree without knowing all the dangers!"

Gesturing more with his paws, Itsuki continued. "You're a Sailor Senshi! They're special warriors! But when you power up, you might face some very dangerous people too. I'll teach you everything I know to make sure you're as safe as possible, and I know there's another senshi who is running a training program for newbies! What do you say, Sailor Paeonia?"

Wiggling his fuzzy butt, Itsuki jumped in the air to backflip. Once he landed on the ground again, light had coalesced to form a special, unusual pen. Itsuki pushed it towards Kaileen with his paw.

"If you accept, then hold up this pen and say, Paeonia Power, Make-Up!"

Kaileen would find herself wrapped in pink magic while the transformation took place. The magic, scented like flowers, slowly transformed the civilian Kaileen into the superhero Sailor Paeonia. Once the transformation was complete and the new senshi was standing before him, Itsuki began to clap (though she probably couldn't hear him due to his squishy toebeans dampening the sound.)

"Yatta! You did it! Welcome, Sailor Paeonia, Senshi of Peonies~ You're a superhero now! You did it! How do you feel?"

The cat walked up to the new senshi and toddled around her feet, inspecting the new outfit. "Hai, it looks great! There's quite a lot to teach you, though. All superheros need guidance! Do you have some free time, Sailor Paeonia? You need to learn your magic and your cellphone and all about the Negaverse and youma and... Oh, there's a lot to cover!"

"Perfect! Perfect!" The Guardian Cat nodded as Paeonia twirled around and inspected her new outfit. Really, it fit her perfectly, as if it was tailor-made specifically for Kaileen. "Now you can start training to be a superhero and save the city! But you have to be careful, and remember what I told you about youma and the Negaverse! They're very dangerous! I'll give you Sailor Nix's information! He's training all the time with new senshi, and that would be a great way to practice your new speed and strength! I'll be there too, when I can. We kitties can help cloak your signatures so you'll be less likely to be spotted!"

Another few nods and Itsuki seemed satisfied. "Now, the most important thing... When is lunch?"
