"But Christaaaaaaaa--"

Clicking of the tongue was her reply. Shuffling her beloved deck of Tarot cards idly, both Calloway siblings sat across from one another at Christa's reading table. Zach, forehead touching the soft tablecloth, huffed at his sister. "Whine all you like, dear, the cards will say the same as they always do. Why second guess yourself so often? You'll get an ulcer from all this stress, you know." The shuffling continued, second nature.

Zach, looked up from his prone position and sighed. "...you can't fault me for making sure."

"Yes, I can, when you try to make sure several times each day. Trust me, trust the cards, trust that everything will work out just fine. Try to relax, Zachary."

He huffed again, finally standing to leave the tent and find his basically-brother, Khaleel, for some serious bro-time. Sometimes, Khaleel's eternal ray of sunshine was just the thing to keep Zach's mind off his self-perceived tumultuous and dream-crushingly serious love life. "...I'ma go find me some popcorn and hug a tiger."

The boy may or may not have heard his sister chuckle as he left the tent, for the sound of cards sliding against one another might have masked it.

"KHALEEL. I got popcorn!" was the battlecry of hungry boys. Khaleel's tent, shared with two tigers, was the first stop on Zach's list of Possible Bro Locations.

A large cardboard red-and-white-striped bucket of piping hot, buttery goodness adorned Zach's arm. Sometimes, despite his boisterous personality and shock of blonde hair, Khaleel was surprisingly hard to find. Fortunately, food worked as an excellent means of attraction. "Where you at?!"

"I uh... N-NO. NO I WAS NOTitwasthesamethingshe'sgettin'realannoyedbutcanyoublameme."

Sigh.

Zeus and Thor didn't have to worry about luck in love, and really, Zach didn't think Khaleel did either. While Zach's eyes and heart were on a another female blonde, Khaleel was a handsome looking fellow. Khaleel likely could wrangle whatever lady he set his eyes on, if he wanted. Trying to hide his pout, Zach shoveled a handful of popcorn into his mouth. Now he wouldn't have to answer Khaleel's second question about whether or not the reading was the same as last time.

One thing the denizens of the circus knew was that these boys were not quiet. They were not stealthy or secretive in any sense of the word. Two boys and two tigers made for memorable shenanigans, including being stuck in tiger cages while the tigers were outside of it, accidentally crashing the clown's performance and having to improvise (complete with makeup), and cheering up the girls when they were sick by dressing as women with makeup and heels. Zach and Khaleel had a reputation, but it was an innocent, fun-loving sort of history.

"So, where's the ladies? Did they have laundry duty today? I also got this saltwater taffy I'm supposed to give to Lace."

Lace was in fact around.

She was curled comfortable around Lilith, not venturing far from the magician since she was her familiar and stuff.

"Are you talking about Zach?" The small kitten stretched, sitting up to give the woman a wide eyed glance.

"I don't think you should!" Lace didn't think Zach was good enough. He needed to prove his love by finally confessing to Melody! Plus...plus...she wanted her saltwater treats.

"Cause he's stupid and won't get it....probably."

The headbutting tigers and Khaleel's beaming were enough. Finally, after so many years of incredibly obvious pining (so much so that the Circus denizens began placing bets on when he would finally cave), Zach resigned. Shoulders slumping, he handed the bucket of popcorn to the blonde to dole out as he saw fit and pulled out his cellphone to type out a message. Hands shaking, it took longer than he'd like it to, but this moment was kind of a huge deal.



Totally smooth.

"If this goes terribly, I'm blaming you. If I end up being the laughing stock of the circus cuz the prettiest girl says I'm a loser... Oh man..." Zach had a way of deflating his own shaky self-confidence and grabbed another handful of popcorn. Drown that sorrow in empty calories!
