While counting her last breaths, a mysterious figure would appear before the dying old woman. It was hard to make out an exact form, as the woman's vision was nothing but a blurry haze now. As the being got closer, the air grew warmer. Had it been the almighty Celestial Wolf ready to take her home? One could only hope. Before she had the chance to surrender to death, the figure spoke.
“If only you could see just how pitiful you look. I almost feel sorry that no one is here to see you rot. However, that’s besides the point. I am here because I sense great potential in you. If you join me, you will have great power beyond your imagination. All you have to do is nod and I will free you from this state. Or, spend your last minutes gasping until you breathe your very last. The choice is yours..”
It was those exact words that gave the dying woman the strength to lift her head and say, “The only ones who deserve to live, are those who are prepared for death...I accept your offer.”With those words, the old shifter breathed for the last time and succumbed to the darkness. Upon awakening, she felt rejuvenated instead of frail. She had been given a new life in exchange for her allegiance to this unknown person; Celestial wolf or not, she was eternally greatful. The woman knew everything came at a cost, and with this gift that had been bestowed upon her, she would use wisely. Where there was life, death always followed.
