 ╰ I go by... ╮ ● x Kelev Beros ; Kel ; Kerberos
╰ When I look in the mirror, I see many things. ╮ ● x Straight, light gray hair falls past the shoulders until it kisses the waist. Eyes of blue-green peek out from behind the hair that drapes over the face, a little on the narrow side for a man of European descent but still very expressive. The skin is beyond just fair. It's pale, and it burns as easily as it blushes, which is with the slightest provocation. Standing at a stately 5'11", Kel has the type of body where the clothes really make the man. It's a slender but muscular build on a grown man, and so depending on what he wears and how it's tailored, he can appear anywhere between fluffy and severe. Though, the man in the clothes never seems to change, an overemotional type who's easily made to cry and scamper. Though, he's also super easy to please and make happy. It's hard to imagine that, beneath the arm-length sleeves and long pants, Kel's body is hardened by muscles, scarred skin, and callouses. Although, he wouldn't be able to tell the story behind even one of his scars. He's already forgotten, couldn't care enough to remember.
╰ This is what has shaped who I am. ╮ ● x Life has always just been... unfulfilling for Kel. Even through the ages of childhood wonder, especially through them, he'd whine and complain about how something was missing. Eventually, he grew out of the tantrum phase, though. He accepted that this gray haze must be life, and he obediently followed the training and grooming of his superiors.
Ah, maybe this should have been mentioned earlier, but Kel didn't lead a normal childhood. Early in his life, he was singled out for potential and after passing a series of assessments, was adopted by his mother country to be raised as part of an elite child to soldier military program. Kelev Beros was the name he was given in the program, having been forced to abandon his old identity. Being so young, and so uninterested, Kel can't remember what his old name used to be... or even the faces of his parents. True to his name, with Kelev meaning "dog" in Hebrew, Kel was raised to be a loyal dog of the government, something that he neither cared for nor resisted. He was noted to have some possible emotional issues during the course of his training. Kel produced the desired results, but always with the baggage of unwanted emotional reactions clear on his face. His eyes would water whenever he had to fight and killing would generally result in tears falling. Because it was just crying, though, Kel's possible emotional issues were deemed harmless. By the time Kel graduated from being a puppy to being a dog of the government, his superiors had embraced his strange nature, code naming him after the three headed dog, Kerberos, in honor of his two-faced way of completing his missions.
Kel's, or rather Kerberos's, work for the government covered a wide range of special operations. In general, he was expected to fight, spy, and (when the time came) die for his motherland. Much like his years as a child/adolescent being reared by the government, he carried out his expectations without much further ado. Having finished his education, Kel knew in-depth how a normal person was supposed to act, think, and feel. Of course, he wasn't really good at it, but he knew, and he could confirm that he felt none of it. Really, the only thing that kept him alive was that strong feeling that, one day, he'd understand. He was going to find whatever it was that he was missing, and when he did, he was going to cling to it with whatever power he had.
Though, no one could blame Kel for never imagining how that meeting was going to take place. It had just been a bored whim, another of a string of meaningless efforts to feel like he was trying to find meaning in his colorless life. He made a wish, at a wishing well in some park he didn't bother to look up the name of. The dark purple stones were what caught his eye. He was just about to leave when the glowing and the laughing started. Then, regardless of his years of cqc training, Kel was pulled into the inter-dimensional waters of the well without further ado. He loses consciousness...
Only to awaken in a brave new world where, apparently, everything thought that he would be incredibly tasty. Kel had always been good with animals, but this was on a whole different level. Fauna bigger and meaner than he'd ever seen were hell bent on eating him, and even with everything he had learned, the lessons that prepared him for every situation he might face back on his world, he couldn't comfortably say that he would have lived for more than a few more days if he hadn't been saved.
The moment Kel looked into the face of his hero, he finally understood. His whole life, he hadn't been looking for something, but someone. A raven-haired, amber-eyed someone who stood in front of him, and Kel couldn't be happier when the hero, Nori, drags him along on his adventure. The fog had cleared. Kel had found his missing piece, and along with finding it came a certainly puppy-like adoration for it.
╰ You may or may not like the way I act. ╮ ● x Crybaby: Since meeting Nori, it's become clear that it's not just crying. Kel is just really expressive in general. He's just never had a reason to express anything other than crying before meeting Nori. Actually, even after meeting Nori, crying is Kel's signature expression, the one emotional state that he most often defaults to. The littlest fright can make Kel's eyes wet. He's loud and very obvious about his distress, and the only time there'll ever be a cap on it is when there needs to be a cap on it.
Puppy-love: Maybe it was just the natural outcome, a dog of the government finds the man he's always been looking for. When it's been drilled into one's head that the only love is to one's country and the way to love it is to serve as a dog, then it certainly doesn't feel strange when one's affections takes on canine traits. Speculation aside, Kel absolutely adored Nori on sight, and with his adoration came loyalty and trust. Of course, Kel is a grown man, not just a puppy. Small puppies can't hug Nori and dig their faces into his hair, which is something Kel very much wants to do.
The Nice Guy: Ignoring his whole raised to kill background, Kel is a sweet guy. Even when he walked through his former life in a daze, he'd save cats from trees and the like. Taking a life really is hard for him. He only managed to live with it before because he couldn't bring himself to care.
Reluctant Killer: Kel doesn't like to hurt others, much less kill them. He doesn't fight unless he absolutely has to, which is why he loves that Nori is so willing to duke it out. Kel doesn't actually think it's possible to go through life without fighting anything, so he's really grateful that Nori is there to fight for him. Sometimes, Nori will leave him hanging in trouble, but Kel is almost certain that he'll be saved once the prince has finished enjoying his crying.
╰ These are my abilities! ╮ ● x Good with Animals: Animals tend to like Kel and Kel likes animals. For a time during his training, he was considered for specializing in militarized animals. He was eventually pulled into a different program due to possible emotional problems.
Emergency First Aid: This isn't the healthy, caring first aid. The only medicine Kel knows is military medicine, the kind that could be healthy and caring, but ultimately optimizes fast results, sometimes at the expense of long-term health. Kel will set a broken a bone and then make someone run on it. He'd expect no less from himself.
Weapon Master: In Kel's world, the weapons of choice were guns. Why use swords when there are bullets? Kel was a specialist in all military grade weapons usable by a single man on the field. That doesn't matter so much in this world of swords and magic, though.
Close Quarters Combat (CQC): A sort of universal, last line of defense. When the bullets run out and it's down to the wire, it's up to CQC to determine the fight. CQC is also invaluable in high stealth missions, a field Kel has expertise in. In his world, Kel would be considered a CQC specialist. In this world, not so much. His abilities, while still impressive, fall short of the expected. To put it in comparison, Nori is stronger than Kel in every way.
Experience: Experience is the reason why specializing children like Kel for warfare was undertaken in the first place. Well, maybe that and brainwashing. Regardless, Kel has had experience with war ever since he was a child. He's seen and been through more than anyone his age should have, and he knows how to apply that experience to his survival. Tactical acumen is another way to put it.
╰ You probably don't know about these. ╮ ● x * It's been defined over several skills, but Kel hasn't shown that he can fight to any sentient soul in the world... yet.
