Gahiji had broken away from those that were always keeping an eye on him so that he could go out on his own on a hunt. He'd been itching to do so for a while now, since the battle that he'd had with that shield baring blond that wasn't as exhilarating as what he was looking for. He wanted a good battle, a fast and hard battle, one that was as dangerous as it was fun! He wanted to fight with his spear against a horde of yaotl or something equally as crazy but of late nobody would allow him such a thing. It was 'too dangerous' because... well, a dozen reasons that everyone around him could come up with. Reasons that Gahiji just didn't care about. He was born to fight and fight was what he meant to do, no matter what opponent he could find for himself.
Lifting a hand he adjusted his yaotl mask before he continued forward, swinging his spear from side to side in a few practice swings. He wanted to fight damn it! Anything or anyone, whatever he came across first was what he meant to go and pick a fight with. Upon making it to the beach, a nice one that was devoid of any sort of other Earthlings, he buried the butt of his spear into the sand and starred around the area. It was a nice, calming area, one that anyone else would have found to be beautiful.. but Gahiji was not most people. If anything he found it to be frustrating, to the point that he wanted to scream. It wasn't what he wanted, he wanted to fight, wanted to find a powerful opponent, wanted to have fun. It was what he wanted and it was what he'd find.
A moment before he was able to turn back he heard a lot of splashing and thrashing from the water, something that caused him to jerk his gaze to the side, eyes going wide, "Yes, yes!" That was what he was looking for. There was a trio of large shadows in the water, attacking fish from the looks of it, herding them toward the shore where it would be easiest to goggle them up. Grabbing up his weapon he charged forward, his bare feet feeling like they were barely touching the warm sand as he went. The shadowy creatures broke the surface of the water at the same time that Gahiji reached the edge of the ocean and he gave a great leap, bring the spear down into one of the powerful bodies of the snaptrotters that had showed themselves.
The creature gave a snarling sound, turning to snap at him, tail lashing, while the other two fled with their fish in their mouths. It left just the two of them alone to face one another. Gahiji withdrew his weapon, hopped back a couple of steps, then stabbed forward with the weapon once more. He stuck the sharp blade into the creature again, making sure only to hit the most vital places. He loved a good fight more then anything but at the same time didn't want anything to suffer. He'd much rather it be a clean fight and get the hide and meat from the beast as a prize at the end. The jaws of the snaptrotter crashed together here and there, a few times nearly catching hold of Gahiji's spear, but he was able to keep from losing it through a combination of luck and skill, by the blessings of On'os and Jonal he was sure.
With his heart thudding in his chest he buried his spear into the snaptrotter once more, finishing the job. Left to stand over the massive beast he set to studying it, deciding what he wanted to do with it. After a long moment of thought he finally decided on a course of action that started with the field dressing of the snaptrotter. In doing so he drew in various sorts of bothersome carrion eaters and scavengers but soon enough he was dragging the part of the snaptrotter away that he wanted, leaving the rest for the beasts that had shown up to steal themselves a meal. It had been a good fight, though to be honest it just made him want another one, maybe even a better one. A fight against something bigger or smarter, but that would have to wait until another day.
He had a lot of work to do now that he had this snaptrotter to take care of. He had to skin it and prepare the hide so it could become leather, wanted to get the meat either smoked or dried, and wanted to cook the tail into a delicious soup. There would be a lot of work ahead of him but it would be worth it when he could make use of the leather and meat in the coming future.
