He wasn't sure how he had ended up in this situation. One minute he'd been taking a stroll through the rocks, debating the merits of hunting solely so he could get some more hide to tan, and the next minute.... Well, it was embarrassing to think about. Ren hoped that no one was around to see this.

With a forlorn sigh, the brown lion wiggled his paw around a few more times in the hopes of dislodging it from the trap he had gotten caught in, but it was no use. His paw was stuck in this retched crack in the ground.

Yep, that's right. Renshu hadn't been watching where he was going. Then his paw had slipped and in it went, stringing a yelp from him at the sudden, sharp pain that followed. He'd tried to pull it out, before whimpering at the sting that shot up his arm. That wasn't a good sign. Furthering attempts had proven that he had injured himself somehow, but since it was stuck, he couldn't exactly check it. Not that he would have known what to do about it regardless, but still....

How was he supposed to work with an injured paw? And gods, would he have to seek out aid? His pridemates would likely be more than happy to help, he wasn't worried about that, but.... He never knew what to say or do or anything even remotely social. He whined again at the thought of it, almost feeling like he could cry, and kept at trying to free himself.

Luckily, perhaps, for Renshu the blue lioness was walking near by, well, more she was searching. With her head down and her eyes cast any where but up, she scuttled along her mind working over time at the new plants, shrubs and roots that grabbed her attention. She didn’t even notice the struggling bronze coloured lion at least not until something hit her on the butt.

That something was the head of a clearly exasperated Gazelle, his subtly orange fur stood out against just about everything and next to his lioness he stood out like a sore thumb. He had been with the lioness since she was very young though, sort of like her nanny goat. He kept her mostly rooted to the planet rather than away in her own little world. “Will you lift your head, there’s a lion over there.” He bleated head butting her again so she would lift her gaze from the ground.

Teal eyes finally lifted from the ground she was searching to rest, carefully, curiously upon the lion. She recognised the lion, obviously, at least his fur colours and patterns, she knew everyone on sight if not by name and while her own particular brand of social came from fixing other she prided herself on at least knowing who the creatures were that would potentially be in her care.

His name, flittered through her mind so quickly she couldn’t quite capture the word so she let a mellow smile raise on her lips and she carefully approached the tan male. He would know who she was, of course, she was a healer, everyone knew who they were.

“Words would be good about now Kemuri.” The gazelle sighed, the lioness had spent an inordinate amount of time just staring at the male lion. And while his lioness friend was a very good healer, she wasn’t the most perceptive. “I believe, he may be stuck.

The lioness blinked owlishly and tilted her head curiously “You’re stuck, OH you’re stuck!” She hopped towards him then, a light in her eyes, she liked to help, its as why she was a healer, she liked to fix what was broken and being stuck could be classed as broken, right?

He was getting insistent with his tugging, beginning to ignore the aches that he was causing, when he heard talking nearby. The tan lion froze, unwilling to turn and acknowledge that there was indeed someone else here - the exact situation he had been dreading. Maybe if he didn't move, they wouldn't come over here.

Of course, that was a silly thought, and had he been paying attention to what their conversation was about, he would have been more prepared for them to walk over. As it was, he wasn't.

He could hear her walking towards him, but instead of saying anything, Renshu sat down with a thump, and stared forlornly at his paws - er, paw."I-I, uhm." He needed to work on the talking thing, he thought with an inward scowl. "I- yeah...." He gave another tug, wincing as he was pretty sure some fur got pulled out as he did so. He would have gladly lived with it though if his paw had come loose with it. Unfortunately, he was never that lucky.

With a resigned look up, he rested blue eyes on this much deeper blue lioness. She looked familiar... he was pretty sure he had seen her among the healers. Well, that did rather make things easier for him, since he wouldn't have to go looking for a healer, but he was still stuck....

The gazelle was more of a shock though. Though not unheard of, not many had a familiar. It was maybe fitting that a healer would have one though, now that he thought about it. The extra paws - or hooves, as the case may be - were likely welcomed.

The blue lioness partly listened as he stumbled over his words but she was more fascinated by his stuck paw. He had clearly been struggling and there were patches of fur here and there where he had clearly been trying to free himself from the crag. “I think, yes, I think I know what I need here.” She lifted her teal eyes and tilted her head. “Sorry did you say something?” She blinked owlishly, a confused glimmer crossing her face. She hadn’t been paying attention to the lion and now she had missed his words. Oops!

The gazelle moved forwards and peered suspiciously at the lion for a moment before nudging the blue lioness once again with his head. “He said he is stuck. Use the caster.” He sighed and looked at the tan male once again. “Name, I assume you have one.” He turned his head to examine the male lion. “The lioness is Ao’kemuri, she will get you out.”

“Oh Kamit that is a great idea!” She looked to her gazelle friend excitedly and Moved to his side. Reaching up to bags that crossed the gazelles back. She stored many things in these bags, though she doubted anyone else would be able to work out her organisation within them there was one that allowed her to find exactly what she was looking for. Lifting some pods from the bags she shuffled back to the male lion and placed them by his paw. “Rock..rock..ROCK!” She lifted a rock and started to pummel the pods and slowly a clear, yellowish oil started to seep down the rock lubricating around Renshu’s stuck paw. “Now just wait for a moment for that to get all the way in there and we should be able to get you out.”

Renshu glanced with wide eyes between the two creatures in front of him, now just frozen and unsure of what to do. The lioness was... spacey, it seemed like, but it was just as well. She didn't appear to notice his skittishness. For a moment, as he watched her rummage through the gazelle's pack, and he didn't register the words that were said to him.

Then he jumped, rubbing a paw nervously against his other stuck paw, "U-uhm.... Renshu. My name is Renshu." Despite himself, he watched with a curious gaze as she dropped a pod beside him, and then flinched violently as she began pounding it with a rock. He hadn't been expecting that. The clear liquid that sprouted forth was also unexpected, and the scholar in him couldn't help but lean forward, intrigued. He wouldn't have thought to do that.

With a shy glance back up at them, Ren mumbled, "What is this stuff?"

The lioness smiled widely at his interest in her solution to his stuck problem. “It’s called a caster seed, I use it to mix medicine normally, it makes it easy to swallow but its really slippery.” She chuckles quietly “I smashed too much once and Kamit went for a little trip. I’v been careful with it since then, but its ideal for this sort of situation don’t you think?”

She moved closer to him and carefully wrapped her paws around his stuck appendage and ever so gently started to wriggle it up from the gap.”

“You shouldn’t laugh at others misfortunes.” The gazelle huffed, shaking his head and rolling his eyes in an over exaggerating manner. “She is happy to meet you Renshu, stay still while she gets you out and she’ll wrap your paw for you.” It was really a good job he was here, it seemed they were both lacking in social graces, his lioness friend really had no social graces and it seemed this male was nervous about something. He was curious as to what but he decided not to voice this particular query.

“Nearly there.” The lioness purrs quietly as she pulls his paw out and proceeds to hold it between her paws. “Ouch, it looks like you lost quite a bit of fur here. You really should be more careful, you’re lucky we came along.” She proceeds to look at his paw, her own dainty paws were careful and gentle,s he may not have had much of a bed side manner but she knew how to look after someone that was hurt. “Nothing feels broken, but you may have pulled a muscle and your paw is kind of bald. I can wrap it for you if you like?” Most of the time she would just go ahead and do her treatment without question but it hadn’t escaped her notice that the male seemed nervous of their presence so she decided it might be a good idea to ask.

Ren gave a bashful nod at her words. It was a pretty useful trick, and hopefully it helped with his situation as well. Despite watching her move around though, he still jumped at the feel of someone grabbing his paw. He wasn't sure to physical contact, given that he normally avoided others. The most he would get was brushing past the other Scribes as they traversed the caverns. He tried to hold still for her though, heeding the gazelle's words and wanting to be free of his cage so he could go about his day.

As his paw slipped free, the lion perked up... and then winced at the look of frayed skin and torn off fur. He really had done a number on it, hadn't he?

His ears flattened against his head as she moved his paw around to examine it, fighting the urge to pull it away and start rubbing at it. That probably wouldn't help. As she offered to wrap it, he considered her words carefully, before giving a shy nod. "S-sure...." He needed to be able to work with scrolls and hides and crystals in various types of weather, and a wrapped paw was better than one open to the elements. The sooner it recovered, the better.

The lioness smiled gently and very softly placed his paw down. “Just hold it up a little. Okay?” She tilted her head and went to rustling in the saddle bags that had already come in so handy.

“There’s palm leaf strips and some down in there.” The Gazelle stated, he knew his inventory well. He had to, or he would end up carrying all sorts of useless things around. His packs were for emergencies and gathering only. If Kemuri had her way they’d be full of useless junk.

“I know, I know, ah, here we go.” She pulled out a lump of white fluffy, cloud like stuff, she pulled this off plants and it was always extra soft, along with some strips of green leaf, a small container and a small swathe of fur.

“This may sting a little but just stay still okay? This is, well, its aloe, I squeeze it out of thick leaves, it’ll sting a bit on your cut but it will clean your wound.” She never usually explained this much to her patients, but he seemed overly nervous of her still and he had seemed interested in her explanation of the caster seeds.

She ever so carefully spread some of the salve like liquid on his scrapes, followed swiftly by the white fluffy material and the swathe of rabbit fur all tied together with the palm leaf strips. She did this so swiftly, her paws seemed to move like lightning. She had done this many times, it was really the easiest thing for her to do. Mending bones was much harder so she thanked her lucky stars he hadn’t broken anything. “There.” She gave a nod and smiled up at the soft tan male her eyes dancing happily.

Kamit peered over the lionesses shoulder and gave a short nod “Nicely done.” He murmured “We should perhaps walk you home though, you shouldn’t put any weight on that.” He commented, he knew that the lioness would have told him that bit of information but he was already speaking so he thought he might as well give some advice.

Renshu watched curiously as she moved over to her supplies, keeping his paw raised up as she said. Huh, saddle bags. That was clever. Maybe he should run the idea past his fellow scribes. It would certainly make carrying their own supplies much easier.

He nodded when she started addressing him again, but admittedly, he still wasn't quite prepared for the sting. He cringed as the aloe was applied to his paw, but she had clearly done this many time before, and he hadn't even had time to move his paw away before she was already wrapping it up. Ren examined it, turning his arm this way and that, before looking back up at her with a timid smile.

"Thanks. I'm.... not sure what I'd have done if you two hadn't come along." It was said quietly, with a bit of his mane obscuring his face shyly.

He glanced over at Kamit, biting his lip. "I... suppose I can't really do any work with my paw like this." He sighed in disappointment, and then shuffled nervously, "I don't- I hope I'm not interrupting your day though." Ren started to rise then, wondering if he could make it without help.

“Oh it’s no trouble, we were actually on our way home. Kamit was just complaining that his bags were getting heavy.” She smiles widely, she was pretty pleased with her haul for the day and helping someone on her way back was just an extra bonus. “We are happy to help anyone in need.”

The gazelle grunted and rolled his eyes. Suddenly his lioness friend was all pleasantries now that she had done her business. She was so single minded, he often wondered where she got that from. “Well perhaps we should putt the saddle bags on you for a change and I’ll do the rooting.” He huffs.

The lioness giggles and smiles at her gazelle friend “Don’t be silly Kamit you’re best at carrying them.” She turned back to the pale lion and padded past him gently leading him towards a safer, less holey path. “I made them especially for him, he likes them really.” She winks.

“Come, lets get you home, you need to keep weight off that paw just for a few days so try not to do anything too strenuous, okay?” She questioned, slowing just a touch so he could keep up with her on three paws.

Well... as long as he wasn't imposing on them. Besides, the sooner he was back home, the sooner he could try to will this whole scenario away. Besides, now that all the excitement was winding down, he just felt tired. Maybe a nap would do him good.

With a shaky smile at her wink, Renshu padded carefully after her. "I'll try not to."
