Reinerite had stopped by the medical station to get her ankle checked out, because she had taken a direct kick to it during the course of her first bout, but it seemed that she had been very lucky because it hadn't be sprained–
Or worse.
She had managed to catch some of the other matches whilst waiting for her second match - those of Bloodstone, Benitoite, Aurostibite and Leucite, the latter two having been pair up against each other - and had nibbled on some of the snacks that she had helped herself to along with a bottle of water.
The bottle of water was on the empty side of half full and Reinerite had taken the opportunity to once again pin her curls up into a facsimile of a bun by the time that she called to her second match of the evening.
She eyed the new Captain that she had been paired with, the taller male with the pink-splashed white hair one that like Aquamarine was not someone she was familiar with but was apparently called Annabergite–
And then all too soon the signal was being given for the match to begin, Reinerite's lips quirking up in a small polite smile that was not reflected in her eyes as she summoned her snowglobe staff to hand.
"Shall we?" The polite question was a rhetorical one, Reinerite already moving as she calmly tried to swing her staff at Annabergite's leg - pole end first.Current HP: 30/30 Damage: 8 =============

He had somehow made it to the second round.
It was reminiscent of his first time going through the tournament, a year or two ago - although back then, Annabergite had only been a lieutenant, and back then, he had cared substantially more than he did now. The only reason he was even fighting was because he needed, rather desperately, an outlet for all of the emotions and frustrations that he couldn't get out anywhere else.
Everything hurt.
He didn't want to think about that. Of any of it.
His opponent - Reinerite - seemed polite, even as she swung her staff, and this, unfortunately, was more irritating to Annabergite than it should have been. Under normal circumstances, he would have given her a cheerful smile, would have offered her a handshake in greeting. Would have introduced himself with a flourish.
He did none of those things now. Reinerite's staff slammed into his leg, sending him careening to the side with a gasp, Annabergite clutching his daggers. He straightened, twisted, and lunged towards her, feeling his frustration flare, teeth gritted together as he drove one of his knives towards her ribs.

Maybe it was luck, or perhaps she had surprised him, but she had managed to land a pretty solid hit on the other Captain.
She had been planning to follow up with another pole swing, but Annabergite had recovered rather faster than she'd been expecting as he lunged at her–
And whilst she tried to use her staff to try and block the taller Captain, Reinerite wasn't able to stop him from getting inside her guard, a sharp hiss of air expelling as pain bloomed in the wake of the dagger's slice - because of course she had to be matched up against another dagger wielder.
But whilst the other Captain was in her guard it meant that she was also in his as Reinerite dropped her staff and tried to stomp down on his foot with as much weight as she could muster whilst also trying to shove the other back–
And cause of the stain that was darkening fabric was something that she was probably going to have to get looked at later.

He gave the captain a savage grin, lips pulled back. It seemed a strangely uncharacteristic look for him, but there was nothing normal about anything that was happening to Annabergite anymore. The world he had once known had crumbled already; now it was just a matter of piecing it all back together.
Reinerite's boot came down hard on his foot, Annabergite hissing, jerking his foot back with a yelp of annoyance. He twisted around, trying to readjust his balance, foot throbbing, and made to drive the second dagger closer to her upper thigh instead of her side this time.

It was almost as if this fight was very personal to the Captain, as his lips twisted up in a facsimile of what was probably supposed to be a grin, although Reinerite was pretty sure that it was the first time that they were crossing paths.
She gave him a cool look as her shoe ground down on his foot, attempting to step backwards as he retaliated by trying to stab her with the second of his daggers–
She was fast, but not quite fast enough, Reinerite feeling the p***k as the edge nicked at her - and knowing that it could have been worse - the cut that he had given her earlier, that still stung and throbbed painfully was proof enough of that.
She summoned back her staff and swung it our at Annabergite more in an attempt to force the other backwards than to cause any real damage–
And whilst the fight wasn't personal to her, other than a way to self-develop her fighting skills - she was quite happy to make it personal given the way that he was going on.Current HP: 20/30 Damage: 1 =============

The cool look was received with an airy one of his own, Annabergite's chin lifting, haughty expression flickering over Reinerite's face. Neither one of them had said anything beyond the initial greeting - and even then, it had only been Reinerite who had spoken.
Annabergite had nothing to say. Nothing to do except fight this fight and hope that he came out on top, the staff swinging around, the look on Reinerite's face one of concentration. It was a glancing blow, barely knocking into him, just as his own had been hardly anything more than a nick.
That was annoying. Annabergite pivoted on his heels, sliding along the uneven floor, trying to get a better position. One of his knives was flipped over so that he held the blade backwards, Annabergite moving to jab it into Reinerite's other leg this time.

She wasn't so lucky this time round as Annabergite's blade cut through fabric and bit into flesh–
And the shock of pain, the sharp edge of pain that came in its wake was enough to cause Reinerite to stumble.
Willpower kept her upright - willpower and most likely luck, Reinerite favouring her other leg as she tried to jab the head of her staff out at Annabergite–
But even as she did so she knew that it wasn't going to be effective, her grip awkward and her stance wrong.Current HP: 16/30 Damage: 0 =============

A satisfied smirk crossed Annabergite's face, triumph written in his eyes. He could see the line of red that the blade had caused, feel the tearing of fabric as it ripped past the outer layers of clothing to find skin beneath. Something about this felt joyfully illicit and thrilling in a way that he didn't want to look to closely at.
Annabergite swung again, ducking under Reinerite's staff to aim a glancing blow at her stomach.

The cool expression was back on Reinerite's face as she stepped backwards in another attempt to put more distance between them.
It was enough, enough that the dagger once again only pricked her, the blade still stained with red from the other times when it had cut into her.
And despite the cool expression on her face, the annoyance in her eyes was perhaps a better tell of her true emotion, the annoyance edging into rage at the sight of Annabergite's smirk.
She said nothing however, instead jabbing out with the snowglobed end of her staff with as much force as she could muster.Current HP: 15/30 Damage: 6 =============

He did not appreciate that look.
He also did not appreciate that Reinerite's staff came walloping against his side with more force than was actually necessary, Annabergite letting out a gasp of pain as he staggered, almost falling over, heeled boots skidding on the ground. He pushed the hair out of his eyes and stumbled upright once more, dragging in painful breaths to try and get the air back into his lungs, feeling winded.
That was most certainly going to bruise tomorrow, and painfully.

Reinerite had no idea of the thoughts running through Annabergite's mind because it wasn't as if reading minds was a skill she could claim to.
But even if she could she wouldn't have cared however - because as far as she was concerned Annabergite had started it–
And she was very happy to finish it - or barring that to at least do her best to give the other Captain as hard a time as she could.
She jabbed out with her pole as Annabergite staggered upright, but could feel tiredness starting to set in even as she did so–
But Reinerite was still nowhere near the giving up stage and if Annabergite wanted the win then he was going to have to continue to fight for it.Current HP: 15/30 Damage: 1 =============

His own swing had only grazed Reinerite, but so had hers, in regards to him. They were both growing more weary as the fight went on, but giving up was not an option that Annabergite took lightly, and he wasn't about to do so now, not when he had a fight to win.
He lunged forward, both daggers aimed for Reinerite's side now.

Although Reinerite was tiring, it seemed like so was Annabergite, the other Captain's movements not as fast as they had been at the start of the match and whilst he swung out with his daggers she was able to get away with yet another p***k–
And Reinerite would take the pricks over the full out slices - because the slices hurt.
Stepping back she tried to swung out with her staff at Annabergite's leg in a move that resembled the one that she had used at the start of the match.Current HP: 13/30 Damage: 8 =============

Ow.
He hadn't expected that last swing. It connected with his leg so hard that it felt like he'd broken a bone, Annabergite letting out an unholy - and probably ungraceful - screech of pain, collapsing to the ground almost instantly. He rolled onto his side and pushed himself vertical, gasping and swaying, feeling the blow still reverberating up and down his entire leg.
He wasn't quite standing, Annabergite on his knees; gritting his teeth, he threw himself forward, dagger aimed for Reinerite's ankle.
