Fortuna slipped away from the strange humorless woman's side and down towards the cove. She was grinning giddily to herself, excited to meet her weapon. Her so-called "partner". The voice that called her from her slumber not long ago. She imagined what they could possibly be; looks, personality, usability.
With each descending step, her heart seemed to flutter. She hoped it would be something big, like a mace. Sharp, hopefully, like an axe. A terrifying monstrosity formed of razor sharp metal. She could tower over enemies and slay them with a single heavy swipe. She delighted in the the thought.
She worried, fleetingly, that it might be something lame that wasn't actually a real weapon. Like, an umbrella or a kazoo or something. Can you imagine? She didn't play bard, okay. That wasn't her style. Perhaps her sister's, but certainly not hers.
She let the thought of her sister and the rest of her family quickly fall away with a leap and a loud thud as she decided to jump the remaining steps and land at the the bottom. She was here for something other than that mess. She was here for her new family. One that should be expected to appreciate her and want her exactly as she is.
Her hand grazed along the wall, strange noises and vibrations emitting from a few of the stones as she brushed them. It seemed so ridiculous, she let out a sudden and abrupt, "HAH!" At the absurdity of it all. It was like they were trying for a haunted house, but with rocks. Also it was outside on a beach. The least spooky place ever with the least spooky of objects being used. It seemed sort of spooky weird if anything. Sort of like those plastic spider 'skeletons' made out of bones. It was just goofy.
Her train of thought was suddenly derailed by a voice, loud and clear, as it hissed a delighted "yesssssss" in her thoughts. She froze there, hand still on the stone. "Gimme a hannnd," it begged of her. She didn't move an inch, giving the tablet a thoughtful looking over before asking out loud of it, "What's in it for me?" She already knew exactly what was in it for her. Lin wasn't shy about explaining things and neither was the person who'd recruited her.
"...Any...thing..." the voice fell to a pitiful and distant whisper as if it were fading on her. Was it leaving? Dying? She arched a brow at it critically. Part of her was sure it was just being a drama queen, but that didn't stop her digging her fingers in around the edges and giving a good tug - the stone almost immediately reforming in her hands into a sword.
She examined the blade over, it looked more ceremonial than utilitarian. The entire thing was gold in color and had some sort of inlay in the hilt. There were jewels set along the back of the blade that intermingled along the softly glowing red runes. At the end of the hilt was a decoration strongly resembling a golden tassel. She held it up and eyed it over critically. she wondered how she was supposed to cut anything with it.
"I'm sharper than I look," the voice invaded her thoughts again. "Are you? You look pretty dull to me." She could almost feel the scoff that followed. "You have terrible taste," it scolded before shrieking "whait-what?!" as Fortuna licked along the flat of the blade and then smacked her lips noisily. "At least you taste all right."
The blade fell silent as if shuddering in horror at what it had just endured. She took the silence as her cue to ditch this dump and rested the blade flat side against her shoulder and began her ascension. "My handle is Forge, but my parents called me Fortuna Hazeldine."
There was a hesitance before the weapon finally spoke again, "Quasar." He dare not give this brute his full name just yet. She has a long way to go yet before she'd have earned it.
