First round of the tournament, and Dottie was here to ******** win. She stared down her opponent on the other side of the mud pit with narrowed eyes, her weapon summoned and at the ready. Before she began, however, she pulled her bandanna up and over the lower half of her face, and pulled up her hood. This was going to get messy. Smirking to herself under cover of the bandanna, Dottie wasted absolutely no time in diving in, so to speak, bolting into the soggy, squelchy mud and hurtling herself, headlong, straight at her opponent. Really she was just going to try and tackle the tall ******** into the mud and get him down on her level. HP: 40 Damage: 5

"Zane, you better win!" Soleil was standing off to the side, hands cupped around her mouth as she called out to the tall redhead facing off against Dottie. "Si tu ne le fais pas, je vais de nouveau sauter tes os!" Not that he'd understand the threat. That didn't mean she wouldn't go through it it, of course.

And so it begun, the first round had him squaring off a semi-familiar face that he might've seen around but didn't know personally. Lerna was a pleasant buzz in his head and the gauntlet took up the length of his arm as it always did. His jaw ticked, eyes narrowed as he tried to mentally prepare himself.
He wanted to win, or at the very least not strike out in the first round, and there was no better way than to get him going than to put him in the face of competition.
The mud was unappealing, but interesting enough and he was grateful that his boots climbed up as far as they did before he was advancing, trying to prepare himself for whatever was going to come.
Somewhere he could hear Soleil saying something, once again in a language he didn't know, and he flashed her a grin before Dottie was lunging at him. Backwards he fell, swinging in an attempt to keep her back or keep her from getting him to fall completely.
HP: 35/40

She very stoically was able to ignore the people who had shown up to either egg her on or cheer for the other guy, and managed to execute phase one of her plan, successfully knocking her opponent into the mud. The second phase didn't exactly go as planned. Actually, she wasn't even able to try, as she felt the walloping blow of a fist encased in steel, which actually sent her flying back, landing hard in the mud. Dazed and confused, she just sort of laid their like a limp banana peel for a moment, and didn't do anything. HP: 30 Damage: 0

So his entire back was covered in mud and that wasn't exactly something that made him happy but he'd sent the chick sprawling back. Getting up proved to be a little difficult but the thrill of landing a hit right off the bat had him getting really into it.
It wasn't long before he was moving forward, taking advantage of her daze to land another blow.

Maybe most people, at a moment in their life when they'd been repeatedly getting their a** kicked by literally everyone on the ******** island, would have gotten discouraged. Not Dottie. When she saw a tall figure looming above her, she groped for her sword and raised it in an attempt to deflect the blow coming down on her. She was slow, however, still dazed, and rather stuck, at that moment, in the horrible mud that was sucking her down. She was still hit, but maybe it wasn't so bad. And maybe she'd just stab at this guys shin with her katana, since it was all she could reach at the moment. HP: 24 Damage: 3

He felt bogged down trekking through the mud but it didn't seem to deter him, even when the blade made contact with a shin. Zane stumbled but managed to stay upright, for now.
He grinned, pushing up his glasses with his bare hand. "Nice spunk," he said, right before he threw a punch to her stomach with his iron fist.

"Oh go spunk yourself." She growled, and likely would have spat at him as well, if her bandanna wasn't still pulled up over her face. The punch knocked the wind out of her, and there was no more biting words from her after that, since air would have been needed to speak them. She'd have to settle for cursing him venomously in her mind instead, while she rolled to her side, kicked at his other shin, and attempted to push herself back out of the muck and onto her feet. HP: 16 Damage: 2

He felt like he was in the zone, on a roll, and walking the walk like he tended to talk the talk. Lerna was a happy buzz, for once, though he knew she was cautioning him at the same time.
It didn't matter, it looked like he had a pretty good chance of winning this first round and he was pretty stoke about that.
But his ego was going to get the better of him when she kicked at his shin and he moved back, stumbling enough that he couldn't bother to do anything else if he wanted to stay on his feet.

She was still struggling to her feet, and really not ready to continue the fight. So she threw mud at his face to distract him while she continued to regain some god damn composure. HP: 16 Damage: 1

He should have seen the mud coming, but his glasses were smudged and he only caught sight of it before it was about to smack him in the face. A sudden jerk back helped keep his glasses from getting so covered he couldn't see but it splatted on his cheek.
Choosing to take a leaf out of his opponent's book, he charged forward with the intent of knocking her down and winding her.

Oh s**t. She did the first thing she could think of, and held her katana in front of herself so that, at least, when they went back down into the bog, he might hurt himself just as much as he hurt her. HP: 11 Damage: 9

Okay, yeah, that wasn't his smartest idea considering her weapon was a little easier to thrust in front of her than say the one on his arm so when he launched himself he got a chest full of katana.
*Ouch*.
Still, it put him in close enough proximity to not feel that bad when he wanted to use his fists.
