"Aw, howdy! I don't think we've properly met." Gretchen smiled brightly across the rubble littered road she and her opponent were standing face to face in. She had her hands on her staff, the long length resting across narrow shoulders, and her weight was resting on one hip. The re-curved 'toe' on her prosthetic leg was tapping rhythmically against the ground beside her right foot. Nervous, or maybe just bubbling over with energy. She was eager to see how well she'd been progressing, and even more eager to meet some folks she hadn't had an opportunity to yet. "I'm Gretchen, it's nice to meet you." She'd have extended a hand to shake, but this wasn't the time she didn't think. Instead she lifted Devika off her shoulders, and straightened up. Ready to fight. "Ready when you are, handsome."

It had been a long while since Milo could remember partaking in a spar of any kind, but something like this brought back fond memories; a little tournament was one of the first things he had done after waking up and what better way to introduce himself to new friends.
"Nah, probably haven't, nani wahine ~" The Sun replied with his brightest of smiles and he nearly mimicked her stance with the length of naginata on his shoulders, "sad to say I've been off island for far too long, ya." Far far too long but it wasn't time to dwell on such matters (nor was it to worry about how much out of practice he was. Wow, he was a terrible Sun.)
But at least he knew he could get the poses done. "Milo," the brunett offered with a two finger salute, "very much a pleasure, ya." As she hefted her own weapon, Milo gave Koume a little flick off his shoulders and spun her and himself around in a fluid motion until she was settled behind his back with his free hand out ala RyuuRanger. "Let's make this flashy, ya."
Taking the invitation, and well having the initiative in the fight, without missing another beat Milo stepped out with a pivot allowing the momentum of the spin to carry him forward and Koume out from behind his back in a fluid basic horizontal slash. No, it wasn't exactly flashy but it was a start.

Noemi was totally at the front of the stands with a small power ranger flag for Milo, waving it.
"G...G...GO Milo!!!" She totally flushed as she cheered for Milo, waving the flag around.

Oh, this one had a flare for the dramatic. Gretchen grinned broader as she watched the way he moved, and found she and her weapon we're actually both in agreement—which was a very rare occurance. Milo knew how to handle his weapon. Even more evident by the solid strike he landed on her at the tail end of that skillful footwork. ( Mind yourself, brat.) She didn't really need the reminder, comfortable with handling the long staff at this point, and better at teasing Devika's hissing as background noise. "Happy to oblige." Her feet slid along the rubble, finding her balance, and the staff shifted until it was held very nearly at her back, with her other hand out before her, ready. She took a breath, focussing, and feel into motion. Purple runes cutting through the air as she brought the staff around in a quick, turning swing to bring a weighted end at his side. HP: 45 DMG: 3

Kenton hadn't yet ventured to this part of the island, with its strange, dilapidated buildings standing side by side with fully functional ones. Today he had reason to, however. Gretchen was sparring with another intermediate hunter, and he was keen to see just how good of a fighter she was. He thought he might clap a little at the end, like one did at a concert, but when a nearby girl began to tentatively cheer, a strange, competitive spark flared in him. He didn't have a flag, but he had very long arms which he waved around like one of those awful air-propelled neon stick figures they lined up outside used car lots. "Woo! Gretchen! Wooooooo!"The spark was very small, and he was pretty awful at raising his voice, but he tried.

Already this was going ideally, he should have been able to see it coming from their easy going introductions and first set of words to one another. Gretchen wasn't one of the moody ones, didn't seem to mind his flair and seemed to want to play just as hard.
"Oso ~ that's got a nice bad swing to it ya," the brunette couldn't help but grin as the heavy end bounced off his shield whilst leaning back from the full brunt of the attack. Koume was already mid spin behind him as he replaced his footing - and then replaced it again upon noticing it had struck some odd shaped debris on the ground. It allowed for another pivot of his body as his hands traveled across the length of the staff to reaffirm his grip to keep the bladed end steady with its strike to her midsection once more.

( Ugh, that man isssss here again. Why do you continue to entertain him?) He's my friend, Devi. Hush now.Devika hissed in annoyance, but actually complied, at least for now. Gretchen managed to flash Kenton a grin before Milo's voice drew her back around just in time to take a blow to the stomach that made her grunt, body bowing. "Yikes, caught me there. Good one." She wasn't down and out though, not by a long shot. Reaffirming her grip, the Death lunged at him, trying to drive the end of her staff up past his defenses to nail him solidly in the chest. HP: 39 DMG: 8

Noemi wasn't one to compete, and if the man's voice was louder well that was okay too! She hoped neither of them got hurt.
Plus...she held bated breaths as the attacks went out and...and...
"You can do it Milo!!!" She heard herself say, raising her arm up in the air. A guilty look was sent at the one cheering for Gretchen before her arm fell again and she shyly waved the flag again.

Koume had already pointed the petite Mist out to him, making her presence known but it wasn't until he heard her cute little yell that he finally looked over. She looked all flustered trying to be loud, so cute. Milo probably would have tried to say something to her but he was caught suddenly feeling the brunt even of Gretchen's weapon in his gut.
"Aaw wei!" He flailed, stumbling backwards with barely anything that could be considered counter measures. "Mean mean punch there, ya."

Right. The Sun chuckled to himself as he planted the blade of his naginata into the debris filled ground and dusted his shirt off with his free hand. "I'll let you have that one, nani wahine."

"'N folks think I talk funny," she drawled out sweetly. "What's that you keep callin' me?" It didn't sound English, as far as she could tell, and it wasn't Norwegian, either. Which was the only other language Gretch was even remotely familiar with, aside from a few random words in Spanish. Curious as she might have been though, this was was very much a competition, and she was rather keen on winning, if she could. So she wasted little time in continuing the offensive, feet sliding along the gravel covered road as she spun the staff around herself, up and over her head, before bringing it down in a solid strike at the taller trainee's shoulder. HP: 39 DMG: 7

The strike rung true, catching Milo in the shoulder just as he was gripped for the bladed staff weapon and pulled away. With a grunt but still a grin, the brunette rolled his shoulder to get the string out and flicked the back end of the staff towards her to just at least clip her on the side.
He hopped backwards again, gaining a little distance and a little bit of his composure while Koume grumbled in his head about his performance. "Callin' you a pretty lady, pretty lady." Milo offered with a wink.

When Milo missed the first time, she made a small gasp sound and leaned further over the rope separating them and the fighters. Maybe her cheer wasn't good enough? Maybe she needed to cheer louder!
"D..DON'T LOSE GREEN RANGER!!!" she said even louder then before, closing her eyes to make the shout carry over to him.

She jerked back, the blades catching on her shield, but only just. A grazing slice across the abdomen. "Well, thank you kindly for that, handsome," she chirped sweetly, adjusting her grip on Devika. She took another jab at him, but this time the heavy end fell just short of him. "So who's the pretty thing cheerin' so loudly for you?" Gretchen wasn't deaf, nor was she blind. Noemi's excitement was almost palpable. HP: 37 DMG: -

"' Course!" Milo replied in an equally cheerful manner, carefully maneuvering in a wave of his hand in lieu of a bow whilst the battle still went on between them.
Taking advantage of Gretchen's misstep in her next attack, Milo spun to his right then carefully pushed off what looked like a weird television half buried in the ground to get further out of reach. His hands slid to the base of the naginata to push the bulk of it forward, blade and all, a forward jab to her own shoulders.
"Aaa, you're referring to the sweet and adorable Noemi-chan, ya." His heart couldn't help but swell as he sung the little Mist's praises, "think I saw someone else at some point, they here for you?"
