Qilanna and Kean had agreed to meet up with the siblings they had met at the Winter Solstice Celebration, Fiammetta and Sanlen. Although they had just met, Qilanna thought it was nice to be able to hang out with someone else who had a sibling the same age as her brother. Kean on the other hand, just wanted to go and play with his friend. It had taken several tries to keep him from running out the door with only his underwear and a shirt on he was so excited, but Qilanna had finally managed to wrangle him in and had put him in some poots, pants, and a warm coat with some gloves, so he could play in the snow as long as he wanted to.

For her part, she was wearing boots, a knee-length warm skirt, and a coat with a scarf, knowing that the weather was going to be cold.

When they got to the park, the two demon siblings spotted the others, and Kean immediately ran over to join Sanlen on the swings, while Qilanna just sighed and went over to the bench that Fia was now sitting on, sitting next to her and looking at the two freshlings. “I wish I had that sort of energy when it was this cold. It’s like the older we get the more the cold just sucks the energy out of us, or at least out of me.” She said, a tired smile on her face.

Meanwhile Kean had joined Sanlen at the swings. “Hey Sanlen! Want to see who can do the most swings?”

Qilanna smiled at Fia. “If only some of that energy could be transferred to us, right? I only wish eating made me that energetic anymore. We could keep all the candy and other treats away from them, and they would still have the same crazy energy.” Qilanna sometimes wondered why teenagers and adults were cursed to lose energy as they got older. She smiled brightly at Fia when the other complimented her. “Thank you! You do to Fia. Though winter clothes don’t seem to be appreciated as much as spring, summer, and fall.”

Kean was about to say ‘yes!’ to Sanlen’s question, but in a surprising moment of actually thinking before he spoke, Kean replied. “Well, maybe who gets to the highest first. Sissy told me that I shouldn’t be trying to go too high because I could fall out of the swing!” Well, Sanlen might not have that problem considering they had wings, but Kean certainly didn’t!

Qilanna smiled. “Yeah, not sure why people don’t focus on it more. Or at least focus on making it actually warm!” Qilanna sighed and nodded in agreement. “Yeah, it’s not as if we’re going ‘look at us!’ One doesn’t automatically assume if a guy is wearing a tank-shirt or not wearing a shirt at all that they’re doing it to look sexy. It’s obviously because they’re hot. But then for women it’s ‘she must be doing it for attention! Women don’t get warm!’” Honestly, she did not understand it! She was glad for the change of subject, even if classes were a bit more boring to talk about than clothes. “They’ve been fine. It’s getting harder every year of course, and I’m trying to keep a good sleep schedule, but you know how it goes. What about you?”


Kean nodded enthusiastically at Sanlen. “That sound fun! And I wouldn’t want to fall out. Race you though!” He said as he started to move his legs up and down, getting the swing to move.

Qilanna shrugged. "I'm not sure, all I know is I want to go somewhere where I can follow my passion. Making clothes is fun, and so is art, but I'm not sure if I could really concentrate on those at college. I feel like I should go to a more specialized school, you know? Though I'll probably get some sort of job too. I know my parents aren't going to want me hanging around the house doing nothing!" She replied, giggling a bit. As much as her parents loved them, she knew that she couldn't live with them forever. "You interested in doing anything in particular?"

Kean tried to keep up with Sanlen, pushing his legs even harder. It wasn't fair that Sanlen had wings! But he hadn't said anything about not using them, so Kean just had to try harder. However, he soon seemed to pick up too much speed, and was starting to get to the point where he felt like he was coming a bit out of the chair and slowed down on his swinging a bit. He could see Qilanna looking over at him, giving him a stare, and he smiled weakly in return, slowing down a bit more so that his sister wouldn't be worried.

Qilanna nodded in understanding. "I get you. Hopefully you'll find something though! But sometimes it finds you too.” She wasn’t sure if she would be able to get a job in either of the fields that she was studying, but hopefully something would come out of it! Even if she just had to make them hobbies.

Kean looked over at Sanlen and sighed. “I’m okay. It’s just sissy gave me a look that definitely said ‘stop swinging so fast or else’ so I had to slow down a bit. But I’m totally okay!” He said, grinning and then laughing a bit as he swung through the air. It was just so much fun!

Qilanna thought she felt a shiver go down her spine. "No, not retail. I'll take anything but retail and having to face customers like that!" She said, trying to look serious but failing and falling into giggles. She hoped she wouldn't have to go that route since she was trying to go into more fashion design and art, but it was always a, terrible, possibility in the back of her mind that she would have to go do that at some point. "Though I wouldn't be surprised if that's where I ended up for a while. They don't seem to want to pay artists and designers as much as they're actually worth. Might have to do a double major in something that will be more likely to help me get a job!"

Kean blushed and then stuck his tongue out at Sanlen when the other made fun of him a bit for his sister's protectiveness. He couldn't really call it over-protective, since she did let him be by himself most of the time when he wanted, but they both knew that they had to keep the other one in line. He tried to concentrate on swinging more, but his legs were starting to get a bit tired. "Yeah, I do! Do you want to do those next?" He asked, taking a quick look at the see-saw and then the jungle gym and other climbing devices. His legs might get a rest if they did some climbing! Though he just knew that after all of this he was going to have to take a nap!

Qilanna looked at Fia, like she had never even thought of the idea before. "Wow... I totally forgot I could do that! I'll definitely look into it! Though I'm sure I might have to have a different day job at first. But wow, it just completely slipped my mind!" She exclaimed. She was glad that FIa was being such a good friend. Or at least she had someone to talk to who could inspire her!

Qilanna looked over at the two, who looked like they were not heading off to the jungle gym, and while she would have let them continue, she realized that it was late and they were supposed to go and have dinner with their parents. "Sure! I would love another one. Unfortunately we have to go now, I didn't realize it was this late already." She stood up and called out to Kean. "Sorry Kean! We need to go! Mom and Dad are waiting for us!" She called, giving him a sympathetic look. She turned back to Fia. "It was so nice to see you and Sanlen again. We definitely need to get together again sometime! And it will be warm when when we do!" She said.

Kean slowed down his swinging, until he could finally get off of the swing safely without having to jump off, and was following Sanlen over to the jungle gym when he heard his sister call out. He felt disappointed that their playtime was ending so quickly, but he knew that he wanted to go and see his parents just as much as his sister did. He sighed and looked at Sanlen "Sorry Sanlen, I have to go. But I promise next time we play that we can go on the jungle gym!" He said. He debated on whether or not to say something else, but he knew that when his sister called it, it was time to go. He quickly ran over to her, but when he got to her, he turned back to Sanlen. "I promise! Jungle gym next time! Let's see who can get to the top first!" He said. If there was one thing he didn't forget, it was his promises.

And with that, both of the siblings bid their farewells and quickly hurried it over to their parents, hoping that they weren't too late.
