AboutAisling wasn't born in Ceannaiche stad, but rather a small mouse village outside of the kingdom, but near by enough to know of it. Most of what the mice there did was farm, or work for 'the master', a Hawk and his family who kept them safe from other predators, though they did get visits occasionally from flutters. However, one day Aisling got the chance to go to Ceannaiche Stad for Feast Weak: The harvests at her hometown had been extra plentiful, and it was a good opportunity to bring to a location where many people were gathering to celebrate and buy fresh foods and canned goods for the winter.
Aisling went in part in hopes of getting a better job, and to get out of her parent's plans of marrying her off to some richer mouse that could afford multiple wives and their children if she was still in the farm the next few years in exchange for getting their youngest son an apprenticeship under his son. As she had no interest in being a trophy wife for an aging mouse and her brother was going to be accepted anyway, she needed to find work away from home, and this was one of her few opportunities:If she got a job, and got away from home, her parent's wouldn't need to feed her. Her parents were old fashioned, and only wanted sons, with daughters for marrying off if they didn't get work, and it was rare for her to get out of their old village, where those with work only hired their own children, or those related in some way.
While her parents and many brothers selled the canning, she went off to look for work, having no interest in popping out babies and being the lowest ranking wife. First at the faire, but then in the village proper, going business to business asking around. That was when one of the villagers suggested she try with the Journey's end inn: Even off season they had regular business, and at times like this, they could always use a few more hands.
After getting some quick directions from the squirrel, she quickly trotted down the stone path to the bottom of the hill opposite the faire. When she expressed she wanted to work for them, wringing her hands on her tail, Caoimhe gave her a good once over, recognized that she was a farm raised mouse that wasn't afraid of hard work but clearly was desperate for an out, and gave her some orders on the spot spot: One of their wait staff broke their arm and couldn't serve as well as normal, and they were slammed. She just needed to follow Diarmaid and the other waiter, and unload the dishes from the harnesses Diarmaid had and give them to the proper customer.
At first, she followed silently, desperate to prove herself by moving as quickly as possible, occasionally giving a meek response when dragged into the conversation by customers or the other waitstaff. However, with Diarmaid's teasing, by the end of the day she had loosened up and joined in the conversation eagerly, teasing Diarmaid back and being warm and friendly with the customers: the Inn already was beginning to feel like a home. And unlike home, the meals offered her were hearty and flavorful.
Given her first day's pay, she was offered the chance to stay on, and Jumped at the chance.

In short time, she was a customer favorite, always paired with Diarmaid since they two had good chemistry with their teasing and playful banter. They were fast friends. One day, after cleaning up the restaurant part of the Inn, and the tenants had gone to bed, the two relaxed afterwards, laughing and joking with each other. When they turned, however, they had sat slightly too close, and their noses bumped together. While normally this was fine, they both found themselves flustered and went off to their respective places to sleep: Aisling, still effectively homeless, to the bunks open to staff, and Diarmaid back to his parent's personal quarters above the restaurant and tavern.
Aisling didn't sleep that night, unsure why she got so flustered with a slight bump, or why her heart hurt the way it did.
The two were awkward together the next few days: whenever they finally got comfortable with each other, one of them would say something saucier than usual and both would fluster and go back to the awkwardness again until they relaxed, and it happened all over again.
"Sounds like you have a crush on the young buck" stated one of the villagers when Aisling spoke to them at the greengrocer, thinking she was talking about a nice Mouse boy. Aisling quickly left the conversation, bought what she had, and returned to the Inn with only half of what she had gone to buy.
Could she really have a Crush on a *Sidhe*? They weren't even remotely alike physically! It wasn't too uncommon for a Mouse to occasionally lifemate a Chipmunk, rat, or squirrel in her old village, but Flutters? Flutters were Soquili! To them, most familiars were inferior, especially small ones like mice. Right?
But then, Ceannaiche stad, flutters and Familiars lived together as equals. Maybe she had simply forgotten that they were different.
