Niite had been doing a lot more to spend time with Sam after the night they shared a den with. This time she was doing so after hours. Minor things like sharing her meals with him or walking with him to the dens or just starting conversations and not being completely weird about it. She had never fancied some one before so this was new but she was doing her best and making sure her time was spent only after work hours.
Today had been her day to help with fishing rather than patrol. Fishing was something that the entire pride needed to do together but that didn't make Niite like getting her paws wet anymore. You'd think given her background she'd be more okay with water but the truth was she never really cared for it and the ocean water was particularly nasty in her opinion. It was salty and if got even a little in your eyes it was near blinding.
In Niite's opinion she thought it would be better to have a designated role for lions to just be fishers but Faun had the stance that everyone should get their paws dirty every once in a while. It was a topic that Niite was not about to raise with the gray lion as he had enough on his plate already.
Instead she'd complain to Sam when she got a hold of him. She'd managed to get a large ration of fish for the two of them to share while the majority of the fish went to communal eating for the rest of the pride. Niite figured the two could share a meal together on their own. She dragged a large palm leaf weighed down by a sizable amount of fish.
"SAM?" She cried in to the dens.

Things had become... Odd? That was the best word that Sam could think of. Not really odd, but also... Well... Odd. Not only had the male been able to find a place he could comfortably call home, but he had found a family. Not blood related of course, but a family nonetheless that he felt comfortable with. For him, that was a blessing. He may not of thought that way at one time, but now was a different story. A different time in his life, and he rather enjoyed it.
Looking over the cavern walls, Sam's yellow eyes kept catching little faint glows and glints from the crystals and gems that were embedded within the rocky surface. It was quite beautiful, and almost like a game to catch which one was going to glow or glitter next. However, a screech interrupted that little game as the male's black ears turned backwards towards the sound. Sam grumbled a little bit, but he was a male. They always grumbled when called by a female.
"NIITE?!" He figured calling back out to her the same way she called to him was a good response. However, he also knew that he was going to be summoned, so making a tiny pout about leaving the shiny and colorful wall, Samedi began to trot towards to the entrance to meet the screeching lioness.

Niite did her best to hide the excitement she was feeling when she finally saw Sam emerge from the den. She couldn't help but feel happy when she saw him which was odd because she was almost never happy to see anyone. Not that she was a grump it was more that Niite was pretty indifferent to most lions and creatures. She nuzzled the leaf filled with fish towards the male. "Food," She wasn't always one to express her self in too many words but the point would get across most of the time. This was her way to say let's dine together and spend some time close. If one was to pay attention they might see a gleam that wasn't there before in her miss match colored eyes.

Samedi smiled. Not only did he have a home and a family, but he had a friend that was even willing to fish up food for the both of them. A friend that he was quite fond of, and one that he knew was quite fond of him too.
"High Chevalier Niite, the fish catcher." Sam gave Niite a coy smile, padding over and reaching down to grab the palm leaf with his teeth. He dragged the platter of fish into the caverns, the soft glows from the crystals shining brilliantly onto the wet fish scales, making them dance and dazzle with color. Having dragged it over to the wall he had been staring at, the burly male let go of the leaf and walked over to the bright lioness, nuzzling her cheek in an embarrassingly affectionate way. Hopefully no other lions were around, for both of the guards' sake.
"Dinner is served," he said with the swoop of a paw, presenting it as if he had caught it and brought it home, just to bug her.

Niite winced at being called a fish catcher but she had caught quite a few. A waste of her talent but at least she had more of a say in what kind of fish she went after. She decided to keep her annoyance to her self but it showed predominately on her features as she followed Sam in to the den area. The lights flickering off of the scales of the fish were beautiful but something that was lost on Niite. She thought it was pretty, sure, but she also had no time for such silliness when she was hungry. So she quietly followed after Sam as he proudly tugged the fish along. It was when Sam presented the fish like he'd worked so hard that she spoke up with out thinking. "I'll have you know Sam that dragging the fish a whole few feet in to the den doesn't give you any credit," She had spoken with out thinking but her tone was even. She was getting used to the way Sam's humor worked even though some times he was able to get her to react. She lowered her head and began to take big bites of the fish on her end of the leaf. Niite did not realize she was so hungry until the food hit her stomach. "Better hurry up or I'll eat it all up," She managed to say with a mouth full of fish. Of course she was kidding.

The burly black lion watched as the apparently ravenous female began devouring her fill of the freshly caught fish. He raised an eyebrow to her, having not expected her to suddenly just dig in. Shrugging his broad shoulders though, he reached down and began to eat his fill as well. Couldn't let a freshly fished up meal go to waste now. Fish wasn't his all time favorite, but having grown up in the savanna that made up the rogue lands, bigger and heartier meat was about, and it was fresh for the taking. This new fish diet would take some getting used to, that was for sure. It wasn't bad or anything, but definitely different from what Samedi was used to.
Having had enough though, Sam began to lick his paws and maw clean. It was tasty! He could tell though that this diet was going to change his body, in probably a more beneficial way. Maybe if he just ate more fish...
"I'm gonna need you to catch me some more, Niite. I need to keep this burly body of mine going. I don't want to be lean." He was actually quite serious, but he knew that Niite wasn't going to take any of it. He'd have to go out and catch fish himself... And he didn't quite know how to do that. Eventually, he would have to make some time to practice, and look ridiculous as he learned.

"Hahahaha," Niite wasn't laughing. She was very exaggeratedly emphasizing how not funny he was being right now with that request. Deep down though she was amused. " Yeah and hell will freeze over," Don't ask me how a lion grasped the concept of hell but there you go. Just to express how much she was not about to go out and catch more fish for Sam she some how grasped that understanding for but a moment. "Come to think of it I don't believe you've ever caught me fish," It just dawned on her.

"I..." Sam didn't have much he could really say. He had never caught a fish. He had kind of tried, but it didn't go so well. He didn't really know how. It looked easy from when he saw others do it, but... It wasn't. He didn't understand, to be quite frank. "I have not, no. I don't know how." He was embarrassed to admit it, being a male and all, but why lie? There was no point.
"I do appreciate you catching us the fish though. It was quite good." He gave Niite a small smile, one that had meaning and love behind it. "Perhaps you can show me sometime how to do this fishing thing? Just like the slick rocks, i feel like it may be outside of my realm of possibilities."

Niite felt bad for teasing Sam now. She had no idea he didn't know how to catch fish and now he was in the spot light with this. Her ears fell back for a moment before popping back up. "Well.. Duh I'll help you." She wasn't about to let Sam not catch her fish. "I mean you owe me soooooo many fish now and don't think I've not been counting." There was a very proud and teasing smile upon Niite's maw now. "Practice begins tomorrow morning. We'll do that in stead of patrol and make it up by doing the evening rounds."

Samedi smiled, a bit bigger this time around. Everything was going just... So well. It was so strange and weird and bizarre... But he didn't mind. It was nice that life was finally going in a way that he enjoyed. For once. Still, the idea of fishing made him nervous. He didn't want to be a failure. What if he couldn't do it? What if it was just... Not a thing for him? He would be seen as the lion that couldn't fish. How embarrassing.
Taking a deep breath, the black lion nodded to the colorful lioness. He padded over to her like he had before, nuzzling the side of her cheek. He smiled again, looking at her two different colored eyes. "You are such an interesting lioness, inside and out. I'm so glad I have found you." He nuzzled her fuzzy cheek once more, showing that he could be affectionate when he wanted to be.
"In the morning then, High Chevalier Niite."
