The weather had finally calmed down and even though it was the first day of the Spring semester, Alphubel hadn't been content to just stay still in his dorm. Sure, he had done all of the studying and homework that had already been assigned to him, but today had just been so nice! The sun was finally showing it's face again, and it wasn't accompanied by killer icicles! He had so badly wanted to go out, but had been unable until night. But with such clear weather, he had gotten to go out and enjoy looking at the stars for a bit with his naked eye. However, he had powered up just in case. Last month there had been a lieutenant he had run into that was clearly goign after some of his classmates, and Alphubel knew he couldn't slack off and believe that the area was safe just because it was a school.
So he was out patrolling once again, though he hoped that he wouldn't be running into any agents or youma this night. Even if the temperature had dropped back down, the stars were showing so clearly that he just wanted to sit in silence staring at them a bit. But, the atmosphere was shattered when he felt the familiar signature of a lieutenant headed his way...

What a coincidence! Lieutenant Nambulite was tired of being cooped up in his dorm, too. He'd had some trouble with school that had taken him out of the Negaverse for a while, but things were looking up, and so he wanted to get back on his feet. He'd done some thinking, and he knew he needed to come back with a vengeance. His last attempts at patrolling had been downright pitiful. He needed to go out and prove his worth.
After wandering somewhere around the DCU campus, there was a point of light somewhere on the edge of his senses, and he felt his hair stand on end. This was going to be good. He could prove himself quite quickly after all. Though that aura did feel awfully... big. Well, that just meant he could grab a bigger target! This was going to be a case of risk and reward. He approached the Squire, a grin on his face from a combination of nerves and feeling sly. "Greetings, Squire," he said. "Care to donate some energy? I assure you it will go to a worthy cause."
Alphubel had been feeling the energy growing closer, but hadn't realized how close it was until the agent had started to talk to him. He whirled around, doing a silent victory dance in his head that he didn't jump when the agent talked, and looked at the other. It was definitely only a lieutenant, but from experience, Alphubel knew that even if he went along with what the agent was suggesting, it would end up hurting either him or a civilian. After all, one person didn't watch two people die by agents and learn nothing from it!
He glared at the other. "As much as I would love to, if it would just make you leave everyone else alone, I know that's not how you guys operate. Let's get to the point shall we?" Well, if there was one New Years resolution Alphubel was keeping, it was being a bit more assertive! "I'm not going to let you drain anyone tonight, not even me, because I'm sure you wouldn't stop." Alphubel then grabbed his lantern and held it up, pushing some of his magic into it so that it started to shine. Even if it didn't have it's intended effect, it could still blind the agent for a bit.
Alphubel channels light to show from the staff that makes enemies confused on who they should attack/cannot tell who their allies or enemies are for up to 50 seconds by the light emanating from it (aka they won't be able to tell if he's an ally or enemy if it's one on one). The effect of the magic goes to a maximum of 12 feet around the user.

Oh, spicy and feisty. This guy wanted to get to the point. That was nice. It saved Nambulite some time and effort. He did get a little petulant at the implication that he'd fully drain someone (to death?) though. "Did I ever say that I would-"
Then that weird light showed up, and Nambulite felt profoundly perturbed. It was like his aura senses turned in on themselves and collapsed. This guy didn't feel flagrantly like an enemy anymore. In fact, he felt like one of his own, almost. "What- what did you do?!" This was bad. The confusion was flustering him. He knew that this guy was an enemy, and yet... no, he couldn't let himself get lost. This guy could be dangerous. His starseed (or something on him) would be an awesome trophy. Growling and trying to settle his head, he lunged for the Squire, aiming to knock him down with sheer force.
Well it stopped the agent for a few seconds. But only for that long. It seemed that the other was just ready to attack no matter who it was, and suddenly the agent was on the attack. It wasn't that much of a surprise, it's not like the agent would have gone down quietly anyway. Alphubel stopped the magic going into his lantern and tried to dodge the agent's tackle. He did, mostly. But he still fell down onto his back from the combination of snow and not really being able to go to a sudden start running backwards.
He felt his lantern tumble out of his hand, and he couldn't get up for a bit because of how hard his back had hit the ground. It wasn't too hard luckily, and his head hadn't slammed into it, but it still knocked the wind out of him!

Good, the Squire had gone down from Nambulite's desperado tackle. A strained grin and harsh chuckle escaped from the Lieutenant as he eyed his "catch." "Good luck catching your breath, because I'm about to take it right out of you," he taunted. Yes, this felt good! Why hadn't he done more with the Negaverse? Well, no better time to start than now. There was something he wanted to try. He reached towards the Squire's chest, completely ready to make a grab for the Starseed. He didn't actually intend to take it out right away, because he wasn't 100% sure that he was ready for that yet. He was just going to feel around for it and see if it was indeed really there. He'd never gotten to try something like this, and in his mind, he thanked the Squire for giving the opportunity.

Starseed grab attempt, success or failure up to you!
At least Alphubel wasn't seeing spots, so he was able to tell when the agent had gone over to him, and seemed to be reaching at Alphubel's chest. His eyes suddenly went wide with realization. S***! He thought as he knew that the agent was attempting to go for his starseed. He couldn't let it happen though, and caught the agent's arm as it had just closed in. "Sorry. Won't let you do that." Alphubel said, in-between breaths. He then tried to use his legs to kick the agent off of him, but that was a bit hard when one had a robe to fight covering their legs.

"Get your hands off me!" Nambulite yelped, tugging his hand out of Alphubel's grip. "You think you're so smooth, huh? Well..." At that point, he got a better idea. He could still grab a trophy. He reached down with his free hand and began tugging at the Polaris emblem on Alphubel's belt. "I'm getting a trophy off you come hell or high water. Consider this a bit of collateral for me not just pulling your starseed and being done with it." The magical sewing machines seemed to have done a good job; he was having a bit of trouble getting it free, but he thought he felt the emblem tearing off a bit. Alphubel's flailing was making it hard for Nambulite to stay on top, but boy oh boy was he determined.
Alphubel had underestimated the agent or he had underestimated his outfit. Either one would probably work. After all, it was hard to kick someone off of you when the momentum was killed by there being too much in the way. As he tried to push the agent off of him, he felt his belt being tugged at, and he looked down. It seemed that this agent was serious! Though at this point Alphubel was more embarrassed than annoyed. It was his belt after all! Alphubel suddenly found his strength, after he heard the ripping of fabric, and managed to push himself up, also trying to push the agent off of him. He knew that he couldn't roll away at this point, but he was determine to at least try to hit the agent, and so sent one of his fists at the agent's head.

With an ungainly shout, Nambulite pulled himself away from the fist flying towards his face (his face! Like a low blow, but different), and he rolled away, his fist closed around the belt emblem. "Gotcha!" he grunted as he tried to right himself. "You win this time, Squire. I've got my trophy. Just remember: someone's going to get to you eventually." He gave a huff as he inspected the emblem, then closed his hand back around it. "Good luck! Next time, someone will go for more than just an emblem." With that, the Lieutenant took off. It was going to be any fun to keep going at this guy if he was going to get pummeled. Well, for his first time out in a long time, it was a good first shot.
Well, that could have gone better. Alphubel thought as managed to finally get back on his feet and inspect his torn wardrobe. He sighed. At least it would be fixed the next time he powered up, but still, that was embarrassing just having his belt torn like that!
He blushed and shook his head. Maybe I should wait longer to use my magic. He thought, cleaning himself up as best he could before he headed back to school.
