It wasn’t like she meant the fight to happen. The other fleshling had started it anyway. It wasn’t her. They were the ones who tried taking her favorite rock friend. The one that she’s had since well….forever. She was just defending what was hers. Taking back what was hers. Why did she have to get in trouble?
And now she was alone. With a caretaker. Jane frowned and looked down in a defiant pout. At least she had gotten her Rocky back. It was the small things that mattered. She could do anything as long as she had her friend by her side.

Nuka rubbed the back of his neck uneasily. He… hated doing things like this. Sure, he knew that it was required of him, considering he was a caretaker. But he really did want to live in a perfect world where everyone got along. And he hated scolding others. He just wanted to make people happy.
Obviously, he was too optimistic.
Sighing, he sat in the chair in front of the freshling. Her name was… Jane, probably. Nuka remembered that this wasn’t quite the first incident. It was just the first one during his shift, while he was near. He vaguely wished she would at least pick fights during other shifts, before guiltily pushing the thought away.
”Jane?” he called softly, giving her a smile. ”Can you tell me what happened?” he asked.

Jane jumped at the sound of her name. One of the talk-y types. She didn't like having a little conversation. Time out would have been better. So much better. She glowered from underneath her long lashes at the caretaker. To be honest, she wasn't familiar with faces. Kept to herself until school was over. And she definitely wasn't familiar with this face. She tensed as it slowly dawned on her. How could he know her name?!
Stranger danger echoed through her mind. Although…her father did say that there was no stranger danger here. It was still hard to trust. ”They started it,” she wiped at her nose before keeping her hands in her lap. What else was there to know?!

Oh. This may be more difficult than he thought it would be. He rana hand through his hair, ears twitching nervously. How to deal with this sort of situation? He wished another caretaker would walk in and take the situation out of his hands.
"What did they do?" he tried in a light tone, trying to keep a small smile as to not make the girl nervous. He really hoped she would open up. It would make it so much easier. He leaned closer and lowered his voice in a whisper. ”If you tell me everything, maybe I can help you out, hm? What do you say?”

What did they do?! Didn’t he see? Jane tilted her head downward in a defiant pout, shoulders hunched. She scooted further down the seat. As he smiled, she glared. She wasn’t in the mood to make friends. Especially with a caretaker.
Jane wanted to slide further down in her seat as he leaned down towards her ear. She wasn’t one for touch. There was too much feeling behind it. His breath tickled her ear as he spoke and she shuddered, leaning her head to the side. The elf’s face did go flush, eyes wide. Help? She turned her face to stare at him, skeptical. He didn’t seem like he was going to turn things on her.
”They stole my friend.” she fished out her rock to show him before quickly pocketing it again. ”Wouldn’t give it back. So I hit them.” There was pride in her tone as she peeked down. No one messed with what was hers.
