Sundays were usually off-limits for the Argyris family as far as work went, especially on a holiday, but even Phoenix couldn't say no to the job Ambrosia had been hired for tonight. The restaurant had been hired to cater a New Years dinner party at the Blanche residence, and for the price being paid for their services there simply was no saying no. Besides, it gave Phoenix the opportunity to bring Shoshana along for both her first catering gig as well as her first exposure to such a high class environment. Zoe had been mildly disappointed, but she was given permission to stay up until midnight with her grandparents and didn't put up much of a fuss. Shoshana was elated, and the pair made their way to their destination with a van full of food.

When they arrived they were directed to the kitchen, while Shoshana gawked at the gorgeous house, the likes of which she'd never seen. As nice as their place was it didn't even begin to compare to this, and she had to exert every ounce of self control she had to keep from touching anything. After several trips back and forth from the van they began getting everything together. What they had been able to prepare ahead of time they had, but there was still a lot to be done. It seemed a lot for two people, but Phoenix had been teaching Shoshana diligently and the two made a superb team.

"This is a big house, yes? It is so pretty!" Shoshana commented as they set up their equipment, the dress she wore shimmering under her apron. Even though they would spend most of their time confined to the kitchen they had dressed appropriately. Shoshana had been thrilled when Phoenix suggested they go shopping for a new outfit for the occasion.

"It's the biggest we've ever been hired to work in, that's for sure," he noted with a chuckle. "We've had bigger jobs body-count-wise, but never in a pad like this. It's pretty impressive, isn't it?"

Shoshana hummed her agreement, still gawking at her surroundings. Phoenix too was in awe, at the kitchen in particular. What he wouldn't give to have someplace like that to himself! As much as he liked luxury the house was too much for his own tastes, even if he appreciated the beauty of it, but he couldn't help but envy anyone who could afford such an upscale kitchen.

It felt like the two of them had spent the entire day absolutely dreading the upcoming party; Alexa and Zale had avoided helping the Blanche parents with it for weeks now -- or at least Alexa had -- and now it was upon them and there was much to do. Luckily, her parents had generally wanted to keep them out of the way as much as possible, leading to them only having to do little to begin with.

"Come on..." the white haired girl whispered as she led Zale into the kitchen. "If we say that we're helping the chef, maybe they'll leave us alone..."

In amusement, Zale shook his head but followed closely. "So long as your allergies don't get triggered... I'm sure they wouldn't want you sneezing all over everything."

"Maybe it'll teach them to chill..."

The two of them laughed silently as they strode into the kitchen, hardly expecting their caterers to already be in the process of setting up. It was Zale who stopped first as Alexa's attention was currently on him, but as the elf grabbed her shoulder, she turned as well. "Oh..." she peeped, a slight flush coming to her cheeks.

While the Raevan was certainly an exciting guest, the girl couldn't help but stare between the two of them: they were both absolutely stunning!

Zale had a similar problem, though his face was much more kind to him than Alexa's.

"Terribly sorry," he quickly apologized, offering the two of them a polite bow. "This is Alexandria Blanche of the Blanche family, but she does beg you to call her Alexa." Zale offered a warm smile then as he brought himself back to his full height. "You must be Phoenix Argyris. I don't believe I've had the pleasure of learning your name, miss...?" His nod suggested toward Shoshana.

Alexa had been the first to approach, quickly offering her hand to Phoenix, as it was obvious that he was the one in charge of the operation. "It's nice to meet you! Please... ignore Zale! There's no need to stand on formalities when my parents aren't around!"

She then turned her attention towards the Frei, lighting up. "My goodness, though! You're only the second Raevan I've met -- there must be something in your DNA that makes you all so beautiful!"

Both Raevan and Guardian were surprised at the entrance of the two residents, having assumed everyone would be far too busy to make an appearance back there. Wondering at first as he straightened up from lighting a portable grill if they were there to check in and make sure they weren't stealing or something, Phoenix tried to look as pleasant as possible and not at all worried.

Shoshana on the other hand was not at all put off by Alexa and Zale appearing so suddenly, having had no prior knowledge of different classes. As soon as Zale addressed them she jumped right in before Phoenix had a chance to reply himself. "I am Shoshana!" She announced proudly, mimicking his bow by giving a bit of a dip in the air.

Now grinning at his Raevan daughter, Phoenix relaxed. "It's swell to meet you both. Yeah, I'm Phoenix," he said, giving a small wave.

The Frei floated towards Alexa, cocking her head to the side. "Thank you, miss white haired lady!" At the sudden realization she looked between Alexa and Phoenix, placed her fingertips over her lips and chuckled softly. "You have the same hair, yes."

Phoenix's grin widened and he shook his head slowly. "I hope you don't find me rude for saying, but we do need to keep working.
We'd be happy to talk more, but I'm afraid of letting down your parents if we're late getting this all ready to go."
He winked at Alexa.

"Hello, Shoshana!" Alexa greeted eagerly, extending her hands for the Frei to take if she so chose. A wide smile spread across the pale girl's lips upon her new friend's musings and observations, her eyes quickly darting towards Phoenix to assess for herself before laughing gently. "Why, yes! We do, don't we?"

Zale grinned and cocked a brow as he met eyes with Alexa. "Must mean you were meant for one another," he teased with a wink, fully enjoying the pink flush that crossed the girl's cheeks.

Recovering from the embarrassment plastered on her face, Alexa laughed off her companion's joke to turn back to the cook. "It's a pleasure to meet you, too! We'd heard about your restaurant from my parents, but they'd never taken me there physically... so it's really a pleasant surprise to be able to finally meet you!"

"Oh, we do apologize," Zale responded to Phoenix's urging, lifting his hand palm-side to the man. "We actually came to see if you wanted any help." His smile was so pleasant it was nearly radiant, and his eyes met easily.

Alexa gave a small laugh in response as well, still standing beside Shoshana with her eyes practically gleaming in admiration for the Frei. "Yeah, uh... Anything to be away from my parents and the party," she explained softly, turning her head just in time to see Phoenix's wink. While her face had flushed once again, her smile widened naturally despite her heart leaping from its cage. "A-and besides, I'd like to learn *some* skills in the kitchen. Folks don't let me in here normally."

"Because you'll sneeze in their food," Zale once again teased, taking his place behind Alexa to softly put a hand on her shoulder. "In all seriousness, while learning to cook would definitely be a great thing, we have to be careful of your allergies. Perhaps something without powdered spices, Mr. Argyris? Alexa is a very hard worker... behind her parents' backs."

Alexa wiggled under Zale's grasp, turning her head to grin up at him and stick her tongue out.

Phoenix gave a coy smile and touched his lip daintily at Zale's comment, before giving a light chuckle and looking around the kitchen at their various dishes full of food and equipment.

"You must come see the restaurant some day, yes!" Shoshana gushed, clasping her hands together. "It is very pretty." Her eyes sparkled with pride over the business she'd fallen into.

Phoenix cracked open a rather large container that was stuffed with dozens of kebabs. The aroma of the marinade immediately swept through the air as he started laying them out on the portable grill. "Don't think I've ever had someone witness the action behind the scenes before actually trying the food as a guest," he mused.

After he'd laid out a layer of meat he looked around some more. They had prepped so much ahead of time that he wasn't sure what to task Alexa and Zale with. After a moment he gave a small "ah!" and sorted through the food until he found a box. He opened it up and pulled out various bundles of green leafy vegetables. "One of you could garnish platters, if you'd like. Not much to it, just make the plates look pretty." He pulled out a container with rich-colored olives and added it to the pile.

Shoshana reached for a jar with a dark liquid. "And someone can heat the sauce!" She started digging around the dishes for a pot of an appropriate size. "This goes over the meat after it's done cooking," she added importantly.
