PERSONALITY: Skála is a very carefree individual but focussed and usually likes to do things his own way.
He has a strong sense of justice and although prefers to do things the right way, he has no qualms about putting down criminals who deserve more than a simple jail sentence for their crimes.
BIOGRAPHY: Skála is the son of a girl who became pregnant at 16 and was forced to give her baby up. He was left at an orphanage that didn't have the best of reputation for adoptive parent choice. After a few years of being in the foster care system, Skála fled at the age of seven from a particularly abusive home and found himself in the mountains in the pouring rain. Finding shelter in a large cave, he stayed the night in its darkness only to be found in the morning by Jeskynnidrak, the cavern dragon, who ran so much fear through the boy that he was unable to run from the terrifying creature that looked like its scales were made of solid rock.
Eventually, after a lot of effort by the dragon to bring him out of his state of shock, Skála calmed and told Jeskynnidrak how he had come to be in his cave. At first taking pity on the boy, the cavern dragon decided not to send him away and allowed him to stay. Before long, Skála was requesting to learn the magic that Jeskynnidrak used therefore making the boy his apprentice. Eventually the two began to care for each other like family and as Skála grew, Jeskynnidrak knew that he would have to venture out of the mountains someday soon. Living alone in the mountains was no life for a social creature like a human. On his 18th birthday, the cavern dragon sent Skála away and upon his expected refusal, Jeskynnidrak awaited an opportunity for the boy to leave the cave and took off, leaving nothing but his memory and a note scraped into the dirt "Sorry, my son". Devastated, Skála took Rocket down out of the mountains where he attempted to set up a life in Prague, his town of origin.
Quickly finding himself out of place, Skála did research on places where his magic might be of use and found America to be the place for him. He saved all his money and set out for the United States, arriving in Texas to the guild he'd chosen to be his new home; Mercenarius Coccino. Here, he was very much taken under the wing of the guild master, Silas, who became a mix of father figure and best friend to him.
For a long time he took jobs in building works, offering his rock magic as help in construction and a friend on a day off took him to the firing range. Due to his precise skills, Skála discovered he had a good aim and started to regularly visit. Noting his talent, knowing him for his general work in catching criminals and outspoken moral opinions on justice, an off-duty FBI agent approached Skála who spoke with the dragon slayer about potentially applying. Though he refused the opportunity for a permanent position, he did strike a partnership with the police force and FBI to aid them in their more high-class cases where he will often stand by as a shooter/capturer.
Alongside work in the field, Skála works for force boot camp, teaching aspiring police and FBI candidates to shoot.
Outside of both work and the guild, Skála offers his magic as a help to build new school buildings and safe places for the homeless to stay.
