He remembered her attempt to keep civil when Selkie had mentioned his desire about ghost hunting. It was a common reaction, actually most of the time they even laughed at him. Others called him foolish, after all he couldn't see the ghosts.

He wasn't of the same opinion, after all he knew enough mediums that it couldn't be fake, so many people had problems with ghosts. However they were also disbelieved, they were made to feel foolish and they were laughed at. Some who even needed help got told they were crazy and seeing things. So he wanted to prove scientifically ghosts did exist and people could see them. He wanted to create the guidelines so that respectability would come to the field, that there would be procedures and it would be easier to find those hoaxers that were trying to just make a profit. It didn't help that the whole concept intrigued Selkie, after all if he could prove it then it meant something was after life. They didn't just cease to exist.
It had been a dream for so long that he knew it was unlikely he would deviate from his path not unless something horrific happened. He was just worried about telling people. However he did, he held his chest up and told people when they had asked and always kept a serious demeanor when talking. It helped, like what had happened with Cleo. If he had a plan, if he explained the scientific ways he wanted to go about this then people came around and it gave him hope for the future, that he could pull this off.
