Liv didn't know what she was doing. This was a bad idea. A totally bad idea. She was never one for running. Even as a kid she would rather walk leisurely instead of trying to get to some place first. There had to be some purpose, some reason. And typically, there was nothing to run from.
The shade sighed, finishing her stretch and getting up from where she sat. It was for the kids though. For Lilly. Begrudgingly, she had to admit to herself that the brat was growing on her. Even if she did have dreams that were far fetched.
Which was why she was here, even in her sleep deprived state. At least the act of charity would look good on her resume. Right? Sighing, she started walking to the starting line, taking her sweet sweet time. Unfortunately, she was so lost in thought that she didn't realize she was going to collide with another body. Until it happened.
Oof. Liv shook her head, taking a step back. "Sorry," she gave the other girl an unsure smile. How embarrassing.

Porcelain Pinch Liv didn't know what she was doing. This was a bad idea. A totally bad idea. She was never one for running. Reece stood in her spot waiting for the ref to call starting positions. This wasn't her first run, though it was the first time she ran for a cause, other than to smoke the competition. For every person that signed up, a set amount of cash would be donated. That was great and all but the first one to cross the finish line would get a shiney medal, which is what Reece was after. Her train of though was derailed when someone practically fell into her from behind. She turned around to find a girl starring bad at her with a glazed over expression of exhaustion. Reece smirked "careful sleepwalker, wouldn't want you to fall and hurt yourself". "I'll make sure this race is over quick so you can go home and get some rest alright?". If this was her competition this would be the easiest race she's ever run.

Sleepwalker?! Liv couldn't help the disgruntled twist of her lips. The other may have sounded friendly enough, but she couldn't tell if she was trying to put her down or not. The slaugh was quick to pull a smirk back on though. "I know how to watch my own two feet." she tried holding her head high. Liv couldn't remember the last time that she had fallen on her feet. That was far too embarrassing for her. Walking occurred naturally. It was unnatural to fall.
She opened her mouth to caution the other not to fall but stopped in her tracks. She'll make sure that the race is over quick? Deities, no. Even if the other was better than her in sports; Liv wasn't going to let her just decide when the race was over. "Not unless I finish before you. " the senior held her head high before patting Reece on the shoulder. "Might want to watch out, I don't want you falling trying to catch up to me." Determination ran through her veins as she stepped next to Reece. It was only one race. She could do this. Right?

Reece raised an eyebrow. Looks like the sleepwalker isnt as out of it as she thought. Nonetheless she's never lost a race before, she sure wasn't gonna start today. Cute though that they thought they could beat her. Over the loud speaker the ref called starting positions. It was a pretty straight forward race. The course was set as one lap around the academy grounds, trail marked with red flags. First one to make it back to the starting line wins the medal, that was going to be her! She could sense the sluagh starring at her but nothing was gonna break her focus.
The horn sounded and the races were off, as to be expected Reece quickly put distance between her and the other competitors. Perhaps it was because she was a grimm but running with speed came naturally to her. The racers were about halfway around the course when Reece spotted something from the corner of her eye. No. It couldn't be!. The Sluagh had caught up to her and was keeping hot on her heels. How was this possible? Reece kicked it into high gears hoping to leave the other girl in the dust.

Did she----?! She did! Liv huffed at the sight of the raised eyebrow. If she was immature (which surely, she wasn't) she would have stuck her tongue out towards Reece. Instead she turned the other cheek and readied herself for the signal to go. Liv couldn't help but keep the gal in her peripheral though. She had to needed to wipe out the competition. The horn was blown. Liv stared in shock before lifting her legs and sprinting towards the goal. This was easy. She could do this. Her legs started to feel weary around the quarter mark but she refused to give up. Couldn't give up. The other lass was just in front of her and almost in reach. If she wanted, she could probably reach her shirt. The finish line was only a few seconds away! All she needed to do was up her already break neck speed and get in front of Reece! She could do this! But one foot hit the other a few feet away from the finish line. Liv's eyes went wide as she tripped and started to fall to her knees. With one fist clenched she hit the ground, as if that would ease her frustration. How could this have happened?!

Reece pushed herself, crossing the finish line first "Winner!" yelled the ref. As she skidded to a halt she heard the sound of someone wiping out behind her. She turned to see the girl from earlier sitting on the ground. She other racers passed and crossed the finish line stumbling to catch their own breath. Reece walked over to the Sluagh who still remained sitting behind the line. "You almost had me there, good effort". "You should at least finish the race. Noone's ever come close to keeping up with me, be proud of that much yeah?". They didn't really want to say anything it seemed but accepted the hand and Reece pulled her to her feet. Once the race had concluded, the medal was awarded to Reece and two ribbons for the runner ups. The council had managed to raise amount of coin for the children's fund from the racers and the crowd turn out so alls well that ends well.
Reece lost the sluagh girl in the crowd only to find her later as everyone was returning to their classes and jobs. "Hey! Hold up a sec!" Reece said reaching for the girl's arm. The girl then shot her a glare as to say what do you want. Reece sighed, she knew she comes off as rather abrasive when it comes to sports. "I just wanted to properly introduce myself. My name is Reece. I'm attending the community college not too far from here..if you ever.. i dunno. Wanted a rematch or something?" Reece hated to admit it but the fact this girl was able to keep up with her impressed her. Had she not tripped she might've even beaten her.. and that.. was scary.

Her new joggers were ruined and she had just bought them! Liv's hands dug into the dirt where she kneeled, utterly frustrated. She didn't even realize that there were other racers who were passing her. That didn't matter right now. She had lost. To her. Liv could feel the tears welling up in her eyes, utterly frustrated. She couldn't believe it! How could she trip like a buffoon?! And why was there a sudden urge to cry?! Liv sniffed, fully humiliated. A hand came out of nowhere and she jumped, her attention falling away from her own self pity. She couldn't bare looking to see who it was. She knew who it was. And even though the other said to be proud that she was able to keep up with the lass, she couldn't help but be a bit miffed. How did coming close matter?! She had failed. Couldn't even finish in second. As soon as she was up, she quickly released their hand. Hopefully she'd never see them again. That fate was not written in the stars though. Liv was just about to leave back to her dorm when a familiar voice piped up, making her jump. Reluctantly, she glanced over at Reece, trying her best to put on a smile. So she was older than her. That must have been why she won. There couldn't be any other explanation. Liv held out a hand. "Liv," she didn't know what else to say. What else was there to say? "You wouldn't win the next time." she tried to sound confident but she couldn't help the ebb of slight hesitation in her voice. The slaugh wasn't opposed to a rematch though. It sounded...very appealing. She knew she needed to practice. "I'd be at the finish line before you were able to cross it."

Reece grinned and shook Liv's hand. "Its a date then! Can't wait!.. Oh um not that type of date.. a calendar date..ha..". Just then a peppermint color Bunyip came barreling across the courtyard and rammed into Reeces leg, almost knocking her over. "Bark! I thought i told you to stay put!" She rubbed her face with slight frustration. He had clearly busted through the gate again to come see her. Nothing she could do about it now though. Reece noted to herself she would have to fix the fence with stronger iron. She turned to Liv "We're gonna go get some Pizza. I say we.. because apparently its two now. You can come if you want? Make it 3? I know classes were canceled today if that would be your excuse...so if you'd rather not, just say no". She scratched Bark's head and he flopped over onto his side. "My big tough guy"

This Reece was.....weird. Liv rose a brow, utterly perplexed. She knew it wasn't an actual date. That would be weird. She dropped her hand slowly and continued to stare. Who would want to have a date be a race?! Liv was going to tease her. A smirk had flittered across her face as she was about to say something but a Bunyip impeded what she was about to say. Her mouth went slack and she took a step or two back. She hated bunyips. They were big bundles of energy that were ready to knock you over at any minute. Or bite you. Those teeth were huge. She stared at the creature warily. She didn't know how to feel since Reece owned the monster. Her attention went from the festive bunyip to the older female when she spoke. Pizza? Her stomach growled at the invitation. One of her arms came across it as if it were holding her stomach back. She had been so focused on getting awake enough for this run that she completely forgot to eat breakfast. ..Or have an early lunch. The hunger came on so sudden. And she didn't get off campus much. It wasn't like she had any friends to go off campus with. Sighing, she looked towards the dorms before going back to Reece. It didn't sound like a bad idea. She....would just have to keep some distance between she and the bunyip. But her clothes were also soiled. She couldn't go out like that. "I need to change," she sighed, brushing off her pants. How humiliating. "But I'd be free afterward." She looked at Reece from the corner of her eye, too embarrassed from her recent fumble to meet hers fully.

Reece noticed Liv seemed rather repelled by Bark, so she stepped forward blocking him from Liv with her leg. "Okay.. well take your time. Meet down at the carriages?" . The sluagh nodded refusing to look her in the eye then started walking towards the dorms. Reece sighed. It was clear the girl was cross with her, and she had ever right to be. Reece knew she was a bad sport when it comes to winning. "Alright Bark, Come on!" Reece gestured to her companion and ran off towards the station at the edge of the campus. The pair waited on a bench outside the carriage platform. It had been a little awhile, and she was starting to wonder if Liv had decided not to come afterall.
She had all but given up hope when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned to find liv standing next to her. She had fixed her hair and was sporting a pink summer dress. Perhaps thats what took so long."Okay. Lets go" Said the sluagh still not really wanting to make eye contact it seems. Reece immediately hopped up and set up one carriage to town. With the speed of the crystal powered carriages it shouldn't be that long of a ride but Reece was somewhat warry of the awkward silence that was soon to follow. Luckily for Bark, the seats were adjustable for larger nightmares so there was plenty of room for him next to Reece. He was basically her own personal shade tail. She hooked barks collar into the rail in hopes him being secured would bring Liv some comfort. Liv climbed into the carriage after them sitting opposite, and glaring a hole through the bunyip. Reece sighed. Yes this would be quite the adventure. Just focus on the pizza.
