Ice and snow? Fine. Hail? Slightly less fine. Large, icicle-like shards of ice falling from the sky? Horrifying. For no apparent reason, Destiny City is plagued with another strange phenomenon, only this one can strike at any time. The icicles plummet from the sky with no warning, regardless of a clear or cloudy sky. The spikes range in size from a few inches up to two feet. Sometimes only one might fall, or sometimes a torrent of them, but they never fall far longer than a minute at a time. So far, injuries and damage have been reported across the city. How are you faring?

Drew hurried to school in the cold winter weather; he was headed for Hillworth and was dressed as such. He thought about the unusual weather that Christmas Season and how for Destiny City it hadn’t really been unusual. In fact, nothing was unusual for Destiny City, except of course the usual for everyone else. Destiny City had revived from the Aurora and the Insomnia spell it caused and the storm that ended it. It had also survived the alcohol-like fruitcake. His family had also survived the Santa’s Elves affair, and he was able to survive his Christmas gift crisis. Dria however was in the hospital, recovering from her massive “dog attack”, or as she told him privately, her “Gingerbread Stalker” attack.
Drew stopped for a moment, and looked at the sky. It seemed clear enough, but he’d been hearing of Icicle Turrets that would just fall from then sky for no apparent reason, ranging from 2 inches to 2 feet. They could fall from clear or cloudy skies and come without warning. They’d last only a minute or less, but that was more than long enough to cause a lot of injuries and damage across the city. He was stopped on a pedestrian bridge and he looked out over the city. He and his sisters, had been given the chance to protect this city, no this world, but there were just some things they just couldn’t protect it from. Drew sighed, he started to turn back towards school, not knowing that a two-foot long icicle was falling straight towards his head.

Drew heard someone call out, but before he could react, he was shoved across the bridge. When he came to his senses, he was about to snarl at the person to see what the heck their problem was, when he realized why. About 15 Two foot long icicle torrents, the ones he had just been thinking about, had sprayed down right where he had just been. They would have killed him, if it had not been for this, this hero who had saved his life. He was silent for a minute as he, stunned, contemplated the days of his life.

He was shaking as he turned to the guy, a brunnette, who had just spoken, and replied, “You’re telling me.” He looked at the shattered pieces of the icicles, turned to his new friend; any one who would brave icicle torrents to save his life was definitely his friend; and thanked him profusely. “Wow. My life has needed saving a lot lately.” He groaned about his sprained ankle, he may have sprained it worse. “A few nights ago, I slipped on diamond-like snow and lightly sprained my ankle. My new friend was there to help me home.” He explained. “There was the Fruitcake Incident; I don’t know if you heard about that; and of course the Aurora, where I was reduced to a babbling idiot during that, my twin sister had to call it in.”

Drew looked sheepish, “And of course, I’m a babbling idiot again. My name is Drew, and yours?”

Drew nervously chuckled at Derrick's about someone randomly throwing icicles. "Hey, I'd like to meet up again, let's exchange contact information, but fast, I have to be to school in 15 minutes, and I don't think my teacher will buy "Nearly killed by an icicle!" He's one of those impossible types," He frowned. He handed Derrick his info, and forgetting to get Derrick's, he ran off toward school.
