He had joined the bahari what felt like eons ago now. The swamp where he had been born had burned and the pride had moved to the mountains. Many had died, many he never found again. It was a tragedy but he had never let it taint him. He remembered the good times and the bad and he let them shape his personality. His personality had fallen on the side of the good though. He was known for being happy and chatty and he loved life with every heart beat.
His life had gotten even better when he met Anya. She was the love of his life. She was beautiful and slender and he just adored her more than anything int he world. She looked past his faults and their shared experiences had pulled them closer together.
The day he had met Anya, he had thought she was a spirit, and who wouldn’t? She appeared like a beautiful wisp through the trees of the jungle and from that moment he knew that something special would happen. They had spent a lot of time together and over what felt like a blink of an eye they had become close. Closer than he had realised.
It took him a long time, what felt like an eternity, to truly pluck up the courage to ask Anya to be his. After all what could a beautiful lady like her see in him? She was perfect. There was no other word for Anya than perfect. He had of course finally managed to pluck up the courage and ask his sand nymph to be his. To be his mate, his lady, he had been terrified. His terror was short lived though. Anya had of course said yes. She said she had belonged to him since they met. That made him happy, that made him happier than anyone would ever know.
They had officially become mates since then and had been looking for a new den. A place together that they could make a home in. It was a fun search full of laughter and subtle touches. They had spoken about starting a family of course and though that made him blush, it also awoke some feelings.
One day he would be a father. He and Anya would have kids and they would be born here by the sea. This was their home now. Though they had both come from other places. They had spent many hours talking about where they had come from. She from the desert dwelling pride and he from the swamps. They really couldn’t have come from more different places. Their beliefs their worlds had been very different but something had pulled them both here. Here to the salty waves. He supposed it made a lot of sense for Anya, she had come from a place of golden sand, the seaside was a natural progression for her.
How he had ended up here though was uncertain. He had simply started to walk and though he had passed by many tribes, packs and clans, when he had come to the sea something had compelled him to stay. The beauty of the place went without saying, the sea was an amazing thing, beautiful, calm and angry all at once. When he had passed his rites and become a full fledged member of the pride he had been so very pleased. It meant he belonged some where.
He hadn’t belonged some where in a long time. Being a rogue really didn’t suit him at all. He had considered going back to the swamp and following in the footsteps of his family and some of his siblings to the mountains but something had pushed him away from that. He wasn’t really sure what. The bahari had offered him something he had needed that kept him away from being a rogue for the rest of his life. He needed to be a part of a pride. His old pride in the swamps required all youngsters to leave to find their true names. He had come back with the name Coburnycus not long before the swamps had burned. Life as he knew it had changed then and he had been forced once again out in to the rogue lands.
He looked back at those times now and could smile. He had seen the world. He had seen enough of it to know that he didn’t belong outside of a pride. He needed a back up, he needed a family and the bahari gave him that in spades. The peaceful pride had welcomed him in its borders and he had found a home here.
Now of course he felt more at home than ever. Now that eh and Anya were starting a life together, now that he would have a family. Life was good, life was wonderful, life was peaceful.
Unfortunately the future would hold something untoward for the pride but nothing would dampen the happiness that the short, stubby silver male felt. Life in the bahari was good for him, it was great and he would be starting a new chapter to his whole life with Anya.
They would have a den, they would have a home together and one day they would have a family of their own, together, together they would be happy.
