There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight.

Noah Starly was a kid who could survive on a little bit of sleep here and there, being a kid, she usually just took naps. Winter break had been great and fun and she had taken advantage of the freedom to go and do all the things. That included powering up and stuff!
She had also been watchful of the Aurora lights that played even during the daytime, though they were a bit lighter on the sky. Cadmus's gut feeling of something not being right was spot on and soon enough, she wasn't sleeping at all. When she did though, she felt like she was falling and falling and falling. Only to be jolted from the bed as if she had hit the rainbow ground.
She wasn't cranky per se, just tired and angsty. She wanted to figure this out quickly so she could get some sleep and maybe her parents could too. They were only home for a few hours as is, and she hated hearing them fighting because neither of them could sleep.
The small white phone popped from subspace and she sent a text message to the Cranberry Eternal, hoping he was out and about to do patrolling with. If his gut was right, They needed to find the nega responsible for this and figure out how to stop them! Text to Cadmus: Are you free? I think this Aurora is something really serious, do you wanna meet to find out why?

Of all of the natural processes required of the body, Caelum's favorite was sleep. Now that he'd stepped into teendom, it was almost a requirement that unless he slept seven hours through, he couldn't even function. Unfortunately, sleepless nights, scattered with repetitive dreams of falling through the spectrum onto hard ground or shifting waters, had marred his days with insomnia. No mattered how he willed himself, he just couldn't sleep, and it wasn't a central problem. It started to affect his father, his brother, seemingly everyone of DC at this point.
It didn't take him long to put two and two together; ever since the night of the aurora, sleep had escaped him. There was a correlation, but he'd zero leads on causation. What was the problem? He ruminated on the matter for a few days, but putting in the thought to consider passed "Aurora = no sleepy" proved to be difficult when his brain was too fatigued to function. After having enough of it, Cadmus decided to investigate.
Just as the teen had powered up and was about to head off, his senshi phone pinged, and he pulled up a text from Mimosa. He yawned and praised her timing, sliding a thumb across the onscreen keyboard to reply:
text to mimosa yea i am there is def something going on i'll meet u at the belltower if u wanna look around see u there
Cadmus's feet were already on the move before awaiting her reply. He, surprisingly, bounded across the rooftops without a stumble as he made his way downtown. Hopefully, the two of them would figure this out soon. One more night without proper sleep and the eternal was positive he'd explode.

Text to Cadmus: Belltower! Okay, I'll see you soon then!
That had been stupid and too late to turn around now. The Aurora seemed sickeningly bright, and it brought back memories and dreams of her falling and falling. Almost so much that her next jump's landing was very weak and she slipped on patted snow.
"Get your head in the game!" Mimosa slapped at both her cheeks and started to move again. Soon enough she was at the belltower, waving down the pink haired eternal.
"Cadmus!" She tried to say it with energy but it came out a little tired and strained. "You were right. Something was up!" was the first thing she added before jumping closer, her arms coming around her protectively and to keep her warm. A small shiver escaping.
"Where should we start?" She was totally letting Cadmus take the lead on this one, she had no idea what to look for and she was a weak senshi after all.

Cadmus sat on the edge of the belltower, muffling another yawn. The brightness of the aurora made it hard to think, leaving his thoughts fuzzy and far away, so the teen pulled the hood to his parka over his eyes to shield out the glare. When he heard Mimosa, he turned, and a small frown met his lips when he saw her shiver.
"Did you forget your coat or something?" he asked gently, immediately stripping off his red parka and offering it to her. He couldn't, in good conscious, leave her like that. "If it'll help in some way, here."
The eternal mind turned back to the topic of the aurora, and he glanced up momentarily to take in the shifting colors. Wincing away from it, in case it'd induce something else besides sleeplessness, Cadmus said, "Hm. Well... I was gonna ask you." Considering her impromptu text, he thought Mimosa had a lead, but internally rebuked himself for giving up responsibility. He was the eternal here, after all! "Oh, uh, I mean! M-maybe we can just take a look around the city first? See how people are actually, y'know, affected by the aurora? If there's, like, a place where people are not-so affected, that could be a start!"

Mimosa shivered again and then stared at Cadmus as he placed the parka around her. She had been stupid but Cadmus shouldn't have to pay for her mistakes. She almost offered it back but he was already moving away.
"Uh, yeah I was such a rush and I've been so tired!" She rubbed at her eyes and sniffed at the parka, did it have like...cranberry scent? That would be funny. Maybe she was hallucinating
"Oh, Gosh, I'm so sorry." Mimosa rubbed the veil over head, "I just know that no one is getting any sleep and stuff!" She yawned, "Oh that's a good idea! Maybe if there is people acting normally!" She paused. "Um are you okay? Are you tired too?"

Cadmus waved a hand dismissively, smiling to replace the fact both were going into this blind. It didn't matter, they'd definitely come out with some kind of answer in the end!
The boy's jaw cracked open in a deep yawn, his reply marked by a slight drawl. "Mm, kinda? I'm okay for now, but I haven't been able to sleep either. Been having weird nightmares of, like, falling for a long time. Haven't slept a night through since. How about you, Mimosa?"
As Cadmus awaited her reply, he thought of places where people seemed the most liveliest. Unfortunately, the only image that came to mind was him comfortably wrapped in a comforter cocoon in bed. Such a thought seemed like a far away concept at this point...
"Let's try mall area first," Cadmus offered in-between things. "There should be some people there this time of day."

Mimosa had complete and utter faith in the older boy. Not only was he older and bigger and probably smarter, he was also a eternal senshi! A full grown one! So that meant he was stronger too!
His jacket REALLY did smell like cranberries, and she kept getting wafts of it. A part of her blushed cause she almost seemed like a creeper or something.
"Oh, I've had the same ones!" She said with a little to much enthusiasm, "Falling through lights and lights and then...waking up." She took a deep breath. "I catch small amounts of sleep, but my parents come home and they can't sleep too....it's causing a lot of problems...."
She blinked and then nodded, "Okay! To the mall then!" She followed after him.

As they reached the large shopping centers, people who normally looked bright and excited for the holidays looked drawn out. Bags under their eyes and even more snappy irritable remarks.
In general, no one looked happy and everyone that was trying just looked tired and ragged.
"This doesn't look good at all..." Mimosa rubbed at her eyes.

Cadmus observed the milling public with frustration. Despite the snow, decorations, and cheesy festive music settling a jolly atmosphere about the area, people dragged their feet like the undead. It was... strangely eerie. Just looking at everyone made the eternal tireder.
"No, it doesn't," Cadmus agreed with a nod. "Everyone's so... lifeless. This must be worse than I figured. Hm." He turned his head to Mimosa. "Is there anywhere you think that might be, y'know, livelier?"

Mimosa was more worried about Cadmus and hoped that her presence didn't cause him to work harder. With the tiredness effecting everyone, she didn't want to make the eternal stress out about the Aurora.
She cupped her hands though, circling them around her eyes like binoculars and looked at all the people, They didn't seem so happy and some small skirmishes were breaking out between people who were just done with being tired.
"It's like zombies." She had watched a movie with Hurst with zombies even though her parents said she was too young. But well Hurst was the cool uncle, so he didn't always listen to what they said. At his question, she brought her hands down and started to think. Busier then the mall?
"We can try down the Christmas lane! You know the one that everyone walks with the pretty lights and the big tree?" She stood up, wobbling only a little bit before jumping on to a building. "It's not to far from here either."
She gestured for him to follow, albeit she moved slowly. Gosh she was just so tired, she must be running on the adrenaline of hanging out with Cadmus again. Unohime Don't be sorry! <3 It was perfect!

Cadmus nodded his head. "Yea..." Honestly, the eternal felt like them. A zombie. Deities that be, how long were all of them going to suffer like this? At the mention of Christmas lane, he nodded his head.
"Good idea!" he called up to her, before jumping up to join the chibi and follow. However, as they moved, the teen couldn't help notice Mimosa's sluggishness and stop a few paces behind her. I hope I'm not pushing her...
"Hey, are you gonna hold out?" he asked gently, furrowing worried brows. "We can rest if you wanna, or"—he patted his shoulder—"you can ride up here? It'd be a bumpy ride, but at least you'd be off your feet."

Mimosa held her hand up to her head, trying to shake the tiredness out of her body. She was on a mission! She was out and about! She'd worry Cadmus if she didn't keep up and stuff.
Her eyes felt heavy though.
"Huh, what?" She looked over at Cadmus and face immediately blew up in red. "Ri...Ri...Ride up on your shoulder!?!?" The girl was small but she wasn't THAT small. She'd crush him....or be an annoyance....and in the way!
"You're tired too! And...And you gave me your poncho!" The girl held out her arms as if to show him his own jacket. "I..I can make it I promise!" She wobbled but held out a hand, "I gotta be tough! If..If we don't figure it out, then we won't get any sleep!"

Cadmus's voice caught in his throat and he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. Okay, maybe he underestimated her a little. It was awful for him to admit, but Mimosa did have the strength to continue. Just because he was an eternal, it didn't make him above his fellow senshi. They were both human, after all.
Really tired humans...
Cadmus clasped her hand and gave it a small shake, as if confirming some unsaid agreement. "You're right," he said, nodding. "If you're good to go, let's just check this place out and call it quits, okay? We definitely need some sleep afterward."

Christmas lane offered the same response as the mall: People moving about with the speed of snails through molasses. Cadmus sighed when he looked down to this; it was a far more depressing sight than the mall. Wasn't Christmastime supposed to be peppy and light? Not so dour and depressing?
"Seems this place is the same," Cadmus said, sighing. "Guess we won't get any answers here either."

Mimosa worried that perhaps she had come on to strong and maybe she was being mean because she didn't want him to worry! his hand took hers though and they shook and she nodded as they did. "Okay! one more place and then we'll try to sleep!"
Hopefully they could.
Christmas lane wasn't that far off though and as they got there, they were greeted with the same scene as the mall. There was just too many people moving slowly for them really get an idea.
Disappointment showed on her face, coupled with tiredness. She watched with him for a bit and as she did, closed her eyes. Just a little bit to rest and get a better view.
As Cadmus talked though, Mimosa was half sleeping.
Standing up.
"O...........H." It was drawn out and her eyes were closed and she just looked like she was gonna curl up right there. It was hard not to want to though cause she was warm and had the scent of cranberries to soothe her.

Cadmus found himself so focused on the search that he wasn't aware of Mimosa until he looked over his shoulder. To see the chibi half-sleeping standing up, eyes fluttering closed, pulled something within him as well. His mind urged him to warn her to be careful, it was cold and a bed would probably be better place to nap, but he... couldn't hold on either.
I can't just take my coat from her... Cadmus thought, stifling a yawn. I'll... I'll just... wake her up later...
But patience was beyond him, and he slumped in on himself. Soon, the cold, the snow, the world about him remained no more as his consciousness shifted away like a shadow, and dissolved into a dream.
