At long last, your Holiday shopping is complete! Every last person is checked off the list, and you have time to spare. Maybe you deserve something a little extra special, too? Or is there someone you suddenly remembered? Are you just imagining that you’re done? What if you actually haven’t gotten everything finished? This time of year is always so stressful—how are you handling shopping at all?
Christmas was coming, and Drew, for once was prepared. He had made his list earlier in the year to make sure he had everyone on it. And finally, on December 23rd, he had gotten the final present and wrapped it. Now he just had to check it twice to make sure – just like Santa. Let’s see, he had gotten his Dad a Harp music book – not many people knew, but his Dad loved the Harp and was attempting to learn, especially the Egyptian Harp. He got his mother a thick book of inspirational sayings of hope. His Aunt Dia received a book on Egyptian History. Dria was getting an amateur robot building kit. Dani would love her Cheetah stuffed animal. The little kitten in the garage would soon get a new home, but would take with him a warm cat bed, a small little box and a few cat toys.
His cat friend that done so much for his team, would get a nice big fish and several gallons of kitten formula for his little ones. The newest member of his team, (Dani’s friend and Partner), would receive on Christmas Day, a nice set of Writing Pens, Pencils, Erasers, and some good lined paper for writing her novels. That filled the list, and yet somehow, he felt like he had missed someone, someone important. He went over his paper list again, but to no avail; everyone was checked off.
So, he went through it in head again- Mom, Dad, Dia, Dria, Dani, Kitty, Cat, Rini, Deme – All there... wait Deme! How could he forget he forget his best friend (Dria being his twin was also best friend)??? His friend had been there to help him turn his life around and to help him learn the ropes of Scout-hood. Without his help, Dria most certainly would not have been found. His friend had been there for him when Dria was found, and when it was discovered that Dria had no memory, not of their family, not even of himself, her twin brother. His friend had stood by him in the thick and in the thin. And here he was, December 23rd, and no present for the friend and partner of a lifetime. How ungrateful could he get?
He quickly counted up his leftover allowance – thirty-three dollars and ninety-two cents – that should be enough for something, right? Something pretty good. Ugh. Wait! Was he an artist or was he an artist? He hurried to the art supply store and purchased with the last of his money some acrylic paints, paint brushes, and a canvas. He painted all night long and let it dry for the rest of Christmas Eve. When it was dry, he carefully framed it, and then wrapped it and put it under the tree.
What was painted upon that was a golden feather quill and a golden gavel(?), the two symbols of their senshi selves, over a golden cobra pharaoh’s crown, over an infinity symbol (also golden) on a black background. One could only see this if they were also powered, otherwise all they would see was an abstract gold and black painting. It was a mark of everlasting friendship between the two senshi.
