When Cybele was out, she didn't so much follow set patrol routes as she would look for the nearest chaos aura, pound it into dust, rinse, and repeat, usually tending far more towards youma than officers. There weren't always things around to hunt, though. Tonight was one of those nights.

It was different in that she wasn't bursting at the seams with nervous energy and desperate to punch something. Things had been quiet lately, in general, at least for her. She hadn't been powering up as much as she probably should have, but in this world, the stakes were so high, and it seemed like she was always messing up. Her previous actions as Cybele had contributed to things corruptions and massacres.

That had been a long time ago, though. Tonight, the frigid December air was crisp and clear, and her head was a little clearer as well. It was almost a new year. A fresh start. Tragedy might strike again, but that was the future and right now, she felt the tiniest bit hopeful. She still felt a little directionless with no trail to follow, but that was how this went, sometimes. It was good that her neighborhood was clear, after all. Maybe she was sending a message.

She was walking through the sidewalk of a park, but she decided to sit down on a bench to look at the stars and let herself actually enjoy the city at night.

Cybele looked up and then from side to side before gaze finally reached the ground and the rather well dressed cat sitting next to her.

"Oh, there you are. I'm sorry," she said. She still wasn't quite used to cats that could talk, but that was all right. It was nice to have a pleasant surprise. She could use the company, to be honest, and this little guardian's blazer made him look very cute.

"One of the nice things about coming out at night is seeing the stars. This is a good night for it, you're right. I think the sky looks nicer in winter." There were more stars out, maybe, or maybe the skies were just clearer.

"Some of us are named after stars. My friend, Megrez, her star right there." She squinted and pointed through the leaves of a tree. "The crux of the big dipper. It's the only one I know." She'd looked it up, back when she'd been thinking about space more.

"I'm Cybele. It's only an asteroid, so you can't see it." She looked down again. "What about you guardians?"

"Hoshi," she said, trying out the sound of it. "Star."

Cybele took another look at the glittering sky, and without really thinking about it, she reached down to stroke behind Tama's ears. "You get to be all of the stars, then. I think I can remember that."

Cats had their own star, then. That was interesting. Now that she was thinking about it, she realized that she didn't know much at all about guardian cats at all, other than that they could talk because of magic. "Well, if you find out more about Mau, I'd love to hear about it," she said.

"There's a lot to space that we can't see from here. There's an old castle on the moon. There's a jungle around this enormous waterfall on Pluto, of all places. I still haven't been to my own asteroid, or to any stars. Some people seem to love space, but... I'm not sure. It's beautiful from Earth, though. I'm trying to learn more."

"I could go," she repeated. It wasn't something she had heard like this, being told to her by one of the guardian cats, the creatures that always seemed to know the most. Still, it was something she'd slowly come to realize during her few trips to space.

"Hm. I suppose I could." At first she'd refused anything that had to do with other worlds. She'd been trying to convince the Negaverse that even though she was a senshi, she was still a good, wholesome Earth girl, not a strange villain from space. It hadn't worked, and at this point she had marked herself as their enemy in plenty of other ways. For a while, she'd had a creeping curiosity about what could be up on the asteroid Cybele. It got stronger on nights like these. Now, she realized there was nothing holding her back.

"Yes. I think I want to," she said. She stopped petting Tama to put her hands in a more professional position in her lap. "What about you, Hoshi-no-Tama, little star? Would you like to get a little closer to all those, well... stars?"

Cybele nodded. "I think so," she said. "I've been to space with others a few times."

She summoned her phone, which she didn't do often, and took a look at it. There was a button for your world, supposedly, and yes. There it was, hard to miss. She closed her eyes and tried listening for her planet. She wasn't sure how this part worked, exactly, but she'd been around long enough. There had been many times with all the various magics that she'd had to learn about where she'd had to use here instincts, and before long she thought she felt something.

She held Tama close to her, pressed the button, and vanished.
