At long last, your Holiday shopping is complete! Every last person is checked off the list, and you have time to spare. Maybe you deserve something a little extra special, too? Or is there someone you suddenly remembered? Are you just imagining that you’re done? What if you actually haven’t gotten everything finished? This time of year is always so stressful—how are you handling shopping at all?
Christmas was always sort of a big deal with her family. Everyone dressed up, games were played, and for the most part she was ignored by everyone there. Yet, she was required to be there. Things were going to be a little different this year though. It was her first Christmas since she moved out on her own and started working. So she figured it was time to get serious with her Christmas shopping. She debated making something, ornaments or candles. Some part of her was worried they wouldn't be appreciated that much though. So reluctantly she had been going out shopping for two weeks trying to find something right for her family.
It was a surprisingly difficult task. Was there really anything she could get her grandparents that they actually needed or even wanted? Harrison and Mary would be easy enough to shop for. Some nice house slippers for him and maybe a cute sweater for her. They were the first one's she managed to cross off her list. What would an eight year old want for Christmas? More important question, what would he want that his Grandparents wouldn't have already gotten for him? Eventually she remembered that he had a DS, so she got a new game for him to play. If it was something he ended up getting as a repeat, he could just exchange it.
What could she get her father? She had a feeling he'd just be happy to have someone to hang out with at the family gathering. Really though, she wanted to get him something nice that he could get some use out of. In the end she found a nice wallet for him and decided 'why not'. The worst thing of all was what to get her mother's grandparents. She really didn't even have the slightest idea. In the the end she gave up, the pressure of trying to find something perfect for them was just not worth it. Matching scarves, how cute? She'd never see them in them anyway.
Once she was done with her family she thought of her new group of friends. Wouldn't it be nice to get them all something for Christmas? Nothing too serious, it's not like she had known then for years. Though, in a way it sort of felt like she did. While she hadn't made anything for her family, maybe that would be a nice thing to do for her fellow court members. Ornaments, candy, candles? There were a lot of options, but in the end she did settle for making some homemade peppermint bark would be nice. She could get cute little bags and ribbons for them. Yes, that would be fun.
Once she got home and started to wrap her presents though, she started to have some doubts creep in again. Was this going to be okay? Would her friends like her peppermint bark? They did have that strange run in with that candy store back in October, hopefully that experience wasn't still super fresh in their heads. Could Hania have chocolate? He's not like a typical cat, but still it was something to be paranoid about.
Ugh, she was ust causing herself too much stress now. By the time she actually got to Christmas she'd ust be a stumbling mess in front of everyone. Maybe she should just run away from it all....Nope. Couldn't do that either. Oh well.
