He made sure to talk things over with his daughter first before bringing someone into their territory. Once that was settled, Arthur sent a text out to Cassian with his address. The apartment was a 2 story home that was a stretch of shops, theirs having been a renovated family story that used to have the bottom floor just for selling quick things like necessities, newspapers, lotto tickets, and cigarettes. Now it was a nice, comfortable living room and kitchen with a bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Curtains were placed to cover what was once a shop window and there were cristimas lights twinkling inside with stick on snowmen and reindeer decals.
A mat was out at the door that had a little cat with a santa hat that said "Meowy Christmas!"
Arthur moved about the living room, grooming himself, already dressed in a feline Christmas sweater and padding about making sure things were okay. It was snowing out and he worried that despite their plans, he might have to postpone their dinner plans YET AGAIN for weather. This had just been the best night with the weather reports to have company but as the news spoke more they were unsure how it would change.
"I do hope he's okay." He muttered.

Mordred was leery of any and all persons that were not Pietro or Arthur. But, if Arthur said that this mystery person was to be trusted- Mordred would. If JUST for Arthur's sake. And also because Arthur said they could cook and after several nights of take out and their combined attempts at cooking, she could do for something not hamburger helper or a microwave meal. Even if she had a certain fondness for late night post senshi patrol midnight microwaved taco bell. Still, Arthur spoke like this Cassian was nice and, well, Mordred was holding out judgement until she could determine just how she felt about this so called 'cook'. Dressed in her own festive sweater and cradling a mug of hot choco in her hands, she remained by the hallway, eying the door like it could at any moment, be broken open under attack. "Your directions are usually good." A sip of the choco. "Usually."

Cassian wasn't quite as fond of snow as some people were, especially when it came to driving in a city he still didn't quite know like the back of his hand. Before he'd left the house he'd texted Arthur back a note saying he was stopping for groceries and it could have been a bit, and then he'd texted him again when he was paid and loaded up in his car again. Well, it was his mom's car. Fortunately he wasn't the only person who drove a bit stiffly in bad weather, but it did add an extra 10 minutes to his commute and he'd already listened to this darn Taylor Swift song too many times. He switched the radio station again while grumbling, "Yeah, well look what you made me do." He really was sick of that song. Beyond some overly panicked drivers on the road with him, however, the directions were solid and Cassian found himself outside of the rather quaint little house. House-shop. Well, he was 20 minutes later than planned and felt a bit bad. But he was 20 minutes late with food so perhaps he'd be forgiven. Resting the reusable cloth bags (a whole three of them) over his shoulder, he knocked on the door. Whoops. "Sorry I'm late! People drive like the snow is going to bite their tires off."

Most of the doors in the house were kept open and unlocked simply because Arthur couldn't open doors most of the time if they were knobs and had more than on occasion locked himself in a room calling out for his daughter to free him. He swore he'd need to order some door stops to keep them open permanently - aside from his daughter's room who seemed to love keeping it closed sometimes.
The front door however had a long tassel that he could pull, allowing him to pull it open. Locking the front door was done with an app on the computer or on their phones if they decided to go out. It was the little, ingenious inventions human-kind made that was actually very Mauvian friendly that he appreciated.
Rushing to the door, he licked his tail to make sure it was proper because they hadn't had guest in - well, probably forever, and reached up to pull with his teeth on the door tab.
As he did, he spit the tassel out and beamed at him. " Meow...Meowwww...." He glanced quickly about the walkway to see it was clear of anyone else before smiling back. "The weather was starting to get bad again. I was worried you'd had an accident. I was about to postpone it all again. It's like Destiny wants to be the Artic these days. Do come in and warm up." He jumped up to press both paws on the door to slowly shut it and then moved beside Cassian. "I can show you the kitchen."
"Hunny! Our guest is here! Do come out and say hello!" He called out as he lead Cassian past the living room and into the kitchen. If he looked, he'd notice there were 2 Christmas trees. One was nicely decorated and one - looked a bit torn up and was missing more than a few decorations.

Twenty minutes late. Twenty whole minutes Mordred had stood mostly in the hallway, sipping her choco, warily eyeballing the door. Occasionally, moving into the main room to do this or that and eventually giving in and sitting down on the sofa to wait. She'd not act like she was curious, she told herself, she wasn't actually curious or excited. She was just making sure Arthur hadn't invited some crazy person to their house. After ten minutes she'd semi-given up, and by 20 she'd figured that this Cassian either forgot or, was lost. Not that she minded, (she minded a lot), it wasn't like she couldn't cook for them both, (she really shouldn't be allowed to given her own skills). But the second the door knock sounded she'd bolted right back to her original place behind the hallway wall, not yet wanting to see just who was gracing their home with the promise of a cooked meal. Arthur went and greeting their guest while she- she hid behind the wall, peeking out to see just what the would be cook named Cassian looked like. ".................." She stared across the room at him before murmuring out a single, "Hello". Purple eyes went to her guardian, uncertainty clear. This was his guest? Someone just barely older than her? Okay probably a fair bit older than her but really? Really? Eyes darted back to Cassian. "....Dad said you were going to cook."

"I would have texted you an update but well....don't text and drive," Cassian felt a bit bad for making Arthur worry, but he was hoping he'd brought enough with him to perhaps buy a little forgiveness. "I would have left you know sooner if I wasn't going to make it, promise." He drew a cross over his chest with a finger as he followed Arthur towards the kitchen. The two trees drew a moment of pause, mostly because his house didn't have one at all, but he nodded, as if understanding, and continued on. There was a small girl looking at him with a mix of interest and suspicion and Cassian waved one hand with a smile. "Hi!" he greeted cheerfully - perhaps too cheerfully. "Yep, your dad helped me out so I offered to come over and cook. Do you want to be my helper or just watch? I don't mind either way," he said as he set the three bags onto the counter and started to unload their contents. A couple of lemons, garlic, a few spices, and a finely wrapped cut of fish. A few vegetables also were unloaded. From another bag he started to unload a set of knives as well as a cast iron skillet. "I brought some of my own tools, just because they're what I'm used to using." he explained. He wouldn't admit he was worried that they didn't have what he probably needed to work with. "Nobody here is going to protest Mahi Mahi and roasted vegetables, right?" he asked as he unpacked the third bag - which was filled entirely with strange bags of food that were clearly just meant for munching on idly while he cooked. Squid jerky, dried seaweed, a few other things that would probably require a look at the label, and a tupperware that looked to be mostly filled with icing sugar. "I made some Loukomi before I came over. Feel free to help yourself to it. It's kind of what my family does at the holiday season." he explained as he cracked open the lid and popped one of the candies into his own mouth.

Arthur could only blink. "But...I can't drive?" He said, confused if the laws had changed. He could forge a driving license it was just that cops would pull him over, He was sure there was a Mauvian that could rig a car to be operational with a game joystick but the obvious look was something they couldn't correct. He would have liked to be able to pick his own stuff once in a while, but there were so many apps and websites that delivered these days. He just - wouldn't be able to teach Mordred how to drive.
That was troubling. How could he be a good father if he couldn't teach his daughter how to prepare for the test? Well, his sweet pea wouldn't be there for a few years at least. He had time.
"Oh no worries then. I'd rather you were safe. Thank you for coming." Leaping up on the kitchen counter, he shoved his head into a bag and smelled about, "helping" as any cat could. A lot of things smelled interesting and a few others smelled delicious.
The candies he gave a sniff and then pulled back to sneeze. They didn't seem good, but he leaned in to take a bite of one anyways to be nice, and instantly regretted it as he tried to chew it with his sharp teeth and found it impossible. Pawing it out of his mouth, he spit it out onto the counter and then glanced up and back down at it. "Uhh....sorry. Teeth aren't....what they used to be." Not that they were ever equipped to eat gummy candies. He slowly batted it with a paw into the sink as discretely as he could.
"Can I help you with anything?"
He leaned in to whisper. "Isn't my daughter the cutest?" He proudly beamed back at the man.

This guy seemed nice enough. He smiled and was polite and said sorry for being late. So far, Mordred was semi-impressed. Being polite went a long way. Plus- he brought the food with him apparently. That was enough to win over most 14 year olds. "Dad helped yo- bullshit." She said, eyes darting to Arthur as he went to the kitchen, a tepid Mordred following the duo at the fringes, keeping her fair distance between herself and the stranger that was 'alright' so far. "Dad is a scaredy cat." She smiled, looking to her mauvian caretaker. It was teasing, and they both knew it. "He can hardly help himself out of a paper bag. I would know. He likes to jump in them." She didn't miss the offer to be a helper or just. "... I'll watch though. I burn things." A lot of the time, (half the time roughly). As Cassian set about his supplies, Mordred skirt around the kitchen, eyeing the various ingredients and cooking utensils. It all seemed a lot simpler than she'd anticipated. She'd been expecting some kind of fancy gadget with all those weird bells and whistles like they showed on the cooking shows she and Arthur sometimes watched, but the pans and things were fairly..normal. The mention of something called Loukomi made her eyes dart to the man, glaring as if the very word he'd uttered was suspect. One step closer. Then another. And another. And then like a child, she took a candy and without much hesitation plopped it in her mouth before slinking back, trying to not look like she was enjoying the sweet confection. Or, she had been until Arthur called her cute and she sputtered, glaring at him. She was not cute.

"Well, they say you shouldn't text and drive because it's unsafe and the like," he explained. "People get into accidents because they were looking at their phone instead of the road." When Arthur bypassed the Loukomi, Cassian laughed. "Hey, I'm not offended. Not everybody is going to betray their family to the White Witch in exchange for it," he said, not even watching as the piece of candy was discarded off into the sink. Instead, he watched Mordred, chuckling. "Well he did. Not in combat of course, but in his own way," which as far as he was concerned, was more useful than having a cat try to roundhouse kick a Youma in the face or something equally as odd. "What do you think? Is it what you'd have expected from Turkish Delight?" he asked, then paused and added, "You are familiar with The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, right?" There had been at least three movies (an animated one and a few live action ones) he could recall off the top of his head at least. He'd begun to unwrap the fish when Arthur's question set off the chain that was Mordred obviously protesting from where she stood. "Well she obviously doesn't think so," he glanced towards the girl, "What word would you use if you don't like cute?" he asked, waiting on an answer before he turned back to what he was doing. "Okay.....I didn't bring a cutting board. Can you show me where that is, Arthur? I'm going to want to prep this, then chop some of these herbs.....do you want some squid jerky?" Clearly, Cassian's mind was half made of thoughts about food.
