Name: Soul Evens (Eh-vens)
Nickname: Shruggy
Age: 18
Birthday: July 28th, 1999
Sign: Leo
Gemstone: CarnelianBlood Type: O+
Fav. Food: He's not entirely a picky eater, though there are some things he just cant eat. If he had to pick some fvourites, however: Steak medium rare (pink and soft, with a bit of natural juice) and macaroni and cheese. Also a fan of chicken and rice.
Hated Food: He's not a big veggie eater? It's a texture thing and most vegetable textures are just terrible.
School: Horizon Institute for Technology and Science
Heritage: Irish as can be, third generation immigrant to the states.
Scent/Perfume: Dragon’s blood, leather and a hint of smoke.
Clothes: All but lives in his uniform for HITS? Look he's lucky if he remembers to change when he gets home. On the rare occasion he gets out... He's often seen wearing tank tops (black or white) and varying colors of kilts (preferably solid colors and with several pockets). Usually paired with black boots (hiking or work, which ever he grabs first) and occasionly sneakers. But only because he can't walk around barefoot. (Also dresses a lot like Soul Evans from Soul Eater, for other examples of his wardrobe.)
xxxAccessories -- Since it's hard to carry lucky charms with him in a kilt (even with all the pockets), he usually ends up wearing several leather bands with some sort of lucky symbol on it. His go-tos have little metal bits with a horse shoe and a clover stamped on it, held in place with leather strings (two different ones obviously). He also has one piercing in his left ear, usually a silver hoop that he can add charms to. His current "charm" is a piece of lavender Jadiete in an octahedron shape. Also has a silver thumb ring with a tribal dragon on it.
Hobbies: A fter Me Lucky Charms -- Perhaps because his life is... well... a bit of a mess, Soul has started collecting charms for good luck. He figured the more good luck charms he has the better his luck (and thus life) will be, right? (Right?) The jacket for his school uniform always his four-leaf clover and lucky horse shoe pins and his keys are never without his lucky rabbit's foot (which he is often caught petting and playing with). He also has several bracelets and charms with symbols of good luck on them for when any other items from his massive collection aren't easily taken with.
Reach for the Stars -- Fascinated with stars, it was this love for worlds beyond our reach that lead Soul to HITS. His dream is to one day travel to space and find life beyond Earth. Of course he's got to make it through the science and math classes needed to even think of becoming an astronaught. He keeps up with all the latest news and tries to always be out for the meteor showers, time permitted.
PunchDrunk -- His grandfather used to be a boxer back in the day and all the stories he told in Soul's youth certainly had an impact. Which is how he eventually talked his mom into letting him learn boxing. It's been a wonderful way to deal with things he doesn't always know how to and manages his stress when it comes to school! He's been at it for about five years now and he has no plans to stop.
Gotta be buff for space you know. Virtues: Not just a Pokemon title -- Within this boy beats a heart of gold. He actively goes out of his way to be nice and treat everyone with kindness. From stopping to help someone look for something they lost, to attempting to calm down someone crying, Soul will go out of his way to try and help.
I cannot tell a lie -- Soul is as honest as they come but only because he can't lie for beans. He's tried, he's gotten better, but it's painfully obvious when he does. If he does have to lie, whatever the reason, he tries his best to keep an element of truth to his words. And even then he'll probably fess up at some point about the lie, can't handle the guilt.
Flaws:I'll keep all my emotions right here and then, one day, I'll die -- Soul and his emotions get along about like water and oil. Over stressed constantly by the pressure to live up to his dream and wanting to make everyone proud (and to pull himself out of his brother's shadow), he gets easily overwhelmed but hates to let anyone in on that fact. He feels like it would only cause trouble for others if they knew what he was feeling.
Like any healthily emotional child he choses to bottle all those feelings up and keep them to himself until he has a total break down and is absolutely useless to everyone! Some days he feels it's a good thing he's too young to drink or he'd be drunk. A lot.
Actually all this means is he does his best to be happy and cheerful, always smiling and in a good mood despite everything. The down side is that he tends to lash out and become horrendously moody on days where he can't keep the act up. The more stress he feels he's under the harder it is to maintain that act and the worse he tends to lash out. Boxing has helped as a means to deal with what he doesn't know how to but it's definitely not a sure fix.
Find a penny, pick it up -- "You break one mirror on accident and you spend the rest of your life making up for it." - Soul
To say Soul is superstitious is a bit of an understatement, but it's not entirely his own fault. He didn't used to believe in all that fairy nonsense but an accidental mirror break (and the horrible shaming of his mom and grandparents) made him see the error of his ways. Didn't help that not even fourty-eight hours later he accidentally broke another mirror (though this one was at school).
Ever since then Soul has been on the fast track to trying to fix this problem that doesn't really exist but you can't be too sure, right? He will absolutely go out of his way to make sure he doesn't do anything that could result in bad luck (and also why he has so many good luck charms). See a black cat and he could cross it's path? Nope! He will literally go back the way he came and do his best to ensure they will not pass each other. He doesn't care if it makes him late.
A pinch of salt over the shoulder if the salt shaker falls over, horse shoes over his bedroom door and by the front door. He avoids ladders, anything in threes or 13 of anything (thirteen stairs? he'll take the elevator. Thirteen story building? he'll catch up with you later.). He's passed out trying to hold his breath as he walked past a graveyard before and he knew someone who had died because of incorrectly knocking on wood (his wife had knocked on his head as she said "knock on wood" and he died in a car crash that night. since then it's always "knock on [whatever he's actually knocking on]*" ).
He's, sadly, become a bit of a joke between his friends at the lengths he will go to potentially avoid any and all bad forms of attaining bad luck.
