Lilly stared at her assignment, practically collapsed on a table inside the library. She had a pile of homework to do, including homework that was passed due. She didn’t want to write about her future. She didn’t know what she wanted to be. She just liked dinosaurs and that’s all.

Sighing, she leaned back in her chair before looking at her tutor, pouting. The caretakers had apparently asked one of the older students to help her out. ”Can’t I go plaaay?” she asked in a whispered whine. Her voice was always barely a whisper, regardless of how she was feeling or who she was talking to. ”I just like dinosaurs and playing. I don’t want to do anything else while growing up,” she grunted, pulling up the hood to her onesie.

Ugh. How bothersome. A groan nearly fell from her lips at the fleshling's whine. The sooner this was over, the better. She was starting to regret accepting the job to tutor a little one. Liv had forgotten how vexing they were to talk to.

She tried smiling at the little dryad, although it threatened to fall as it twitched. Her eyes most likely showed her annoyance. Quite frankly, she couldn't muster any ability to care.

Her hand went over to Lilly's forehead, directing it downward to the worksheet that was currently in front of her. "No, bra---" she cleared her throat. She needed to calm herself. How she was going to survive this tutoring session was beyond her. The senior put back on that all too plastic smile. "You need to know this to work with dinosaurs." How, she didn't have a clue. She couldn't understand why someone would want to work with something that was obviously ijnferior and instinct. Liv leaned in close, trying to summon as much sympathy as her cold heart could muster. "How else are you going to count the dinosaur's bones?"

Lilly squinted at the tutor, unsure. True… she should count the dinosaur bones. But, she knew how to count. It was easy! What did multiplying have to do with bones? Or even dividing? She grumbled under her breath, staring at the paper for a moment longer. She really, really, really, really didn’t want to do this. But…

Her eyes went to the tutor, pushing her paper to the side for now. ”Is there a job for people who like dinosaurs?” she asked curiously, reaching into her bag to grab some candy that she had snagged from the recent festival. Quickly, she popped a mint in her mouth, waiting for an answer eagerly.

Oh man, how she hated mutterings. Liv raised a brow, her other twitching. "What was that little girl? Speak up. You can tell me." She didn't bother pointing out that she may kill the girl depending on what it was but....Knowing was better than not knowing.

Hmm. A job for people who liked dinosaurs. Honestly....Was there even a job? All paleontologists were probably so old..It was probably a dying job. People had been digging for centuries, there couldn't possibly be anymore fossils in rock. It was highly likely that they were already found. She wasn't going to tell the brat a lie. Liv couldn't even tell her most hated person a lie. Ah. The slaugh's face lit up. She knew of the perfect occupation.

"Teaching." Rarely did her face have a genuine smile. But in this instance, she couldn't wipe the broad smile off of her face. "Tell others about your love for dinosaurs. They'll have to listen to you. You're the one dishing out the grade." She sat back, haughty and extremely proud of herself.

Until she saw Lilly take a candy out of her back and pop it into her mouth. Liv's face fell flat before lifting again, annoyed. Leave it to the brat to ruin her good mood. "The library isn't for eating, girly. Is there more in the bag?" She might just steal the rest for herself. Serves the fleshling right.

Lilly shook her head. She wasn’t going to repeat what she grumbled, mainly because she had already forgotten what she did say.

The job suggestion that Liv gave Lilly was… disappointing. Her heart dropped, chin falling to the table in exaggerated defeat. ”I don’t wanna be a teacher… I hate school,” she said in her whispery voice, frowning at the school work. There was no way ever that she’d be a teacher, that was for sure!

”I wanna find dinosaurs. Or grow them! Do you think that’s possible?!” she asked, excitedly, eyes bright. She sucked on the candy, head tilting at being scolded. Did she have more? ”Uh-huh!” Lilly told her before pulling out the small bag of mints.

Liv smiled tightly. This kid was too much. Hating school? Please. How was the little one even going to graduate? Or survive the grad that she's currently in. "Guess you're not going to work with dinosaurs then!" she leaned forward, one hand reaching up to cup her own chin. Little girl needed to learn the rules of the world, obviously. "You can't find or grow dinosaurs while hating school," herb arm reached over to flick Lilly's forehead. So childish.

"How would you even grow a dinosaur? They're extinct.". If the girl's imagination wasn't so alarming for her future, Liv would have laughed. But..the kid had to get the idea from somewhere. Where, was the question. Was there a way? Liv's eyes narrowed as she concentrated. She couldn't...think of one.

Liv's eyes went towards the bag of goodies in Lilly's hand. Guh, mint. She wasn't too big of a fan of the stinging coolness that the sweet formed on the tongue. The teen outstretched her hand, palm stretched outward and fingers curling to motion for the bag. "Can I have that?" The less distractions the better.

Lilly’s eyes widened tremendously and her jaw dropped. Cripes, Liv was right! She wouldn’t be able to do either of those things without school! Did that mean… that she had to stop hating school? Could she even do that? A frown etched her face as she pondered it.

And nearly missed Liv’s very important question.

”I’ll find a way!” she told Liv confidently in her whispery voice. She even grinned to back it up. When Liv asked for a candy, Lilly got even more excited. Someone else liked candy too?!? Quickly, she dipped into her bag of mints, pulling one out for Liv and handing her one. ”Here you go!”

She'll find a way? Liv raised a brow. It was a fatal feat if she did go for the goal of "growing" dinosaurs. How this little fleshling was going to survive until adulthood, let along this year, was beyond her. How could she be so confident?!

But her grin...Liv shook her head. Whatever. It wasn't her problem if her future was futile and she wound up in a trash heap. Not. Her. Fault. Her eyes went back to the pile of papers on the desk. She should really get her to work on what was in front of her though. That was the goal of this whole endeavor wasn't it?

A look of utter repulsion crossed her face as a candy was plopped into her hand. Gross. Liv stared at the thing as if it was oozing on her hand. Composure, she needed composure. The teen tried a smile, albeit twitchy. "I meant the whole bag. Not just one. Candy isn't allowed in the library." Her fingers curled in a beckoning motion once more.

Lilly’s mouth dropped open, her eyes wide. She wasn’t allowed to have candy in the library?! Why not?! No one had told her before! Sure, it said no food, but if Lilly couldn’t eat candy for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, than it certainly didn’t qualify as food! Her bottom lip trembled and she clung to the bag for a moment.

”But… these are mine,” she whispered in a whimper, staring wide eyed. But… she should listen. She didn’t want to get in trouble. And Liv was tutoring her and helping her out. Very slowly, very reluctantly, she held the bag of candy out, her chin tucking into her chest in a pout.

Ugh, the lip tremble. How weak and pathetic. Liv's other hand drummed on the table as she became increasingly impatient. "There's no food in the library. You should know that." The arm that was outstretched pointed towards the large sign with food crossed out, voice incredulous. "You can't miss it."

A little kid crying was too pathetic though. She sighed, relieved as she was given the whole bag and quickly stashed it in her own. Liv thought that the fleshling would get passed it. It was just candy. But...she stared at the small girl.

Why did she have to look so pathetic? With a grumble, Liv placed a hand on one of Lilly's own. "Look... a sigh came from her lips as she tried to lean in and see her eyes. "I'll give them back as a reward for doing your work. But you have to do it. Alright? The teen rose a brow in an attempt to show sympathy.

The girl really needed to get better tastes though. Mints and dinosaurs? Terrible.
