I never actually played the original AC. My family had a gamecube but not a whole lot of games for it and Animal Crossing wasn't one of them. Pocket Camp prompted me to purchase New Leaf as a Christmas gift to myself (my boyfriend got Overwatch on sale). So, the point of my thread here:

Maybe a year ago I tried to replay AC on the Gamecube...I played for maybe an hour before I gave up. sweatdrop I had played it when it first came out but that was before I was used to playing New Leaf.
It's a lot of work and everything is so slow! You have to write and send a letter for every fossil you want in the museum...I loved seeing all the villagers though. They were a lot meaner back then too?
...so really I don't think you are missing anything by not playing that version.
And I will post my FC when I get home. c:

Plus, Street Pass goes through, like, phases which depend solely on what's the newest, most popular game at the time. So, when Pokemon X first came out, Street Pass was like "Mergerd, look at all dese people playin' Pokemanz!" Now, the number of people playing that particular version is basically zero.
Also, yay! I didn't expect much traffic in this thread. ^^;See, that's the question: How well did it age? Has it withstood the test of time or are you using the power of nostalgia? I've gotten some surprised reactions to the "I've never played the original" statement. Usually along the lines of "But I thought you were all about Nintendo?" And I'm like, "Yes. I am. But when AC was a thing, I was still rocking Mariokart on the 64."

I snagged some fruit from the island so I've got saplings going. There should be nanners on the West beach and there should be lemons, lychee, and mangos by my town hall building.
