Name: Danielle Hayes
Nickname: Dani
Age: 17
Birthday:Sign: Aries
Gemstone: Bloodstone
Blood Type: O+
Fav. Food: Quail. Dani's grandmother kept them, and would serve them with wild rice in mushroom gravy when the family went upstate to visit. She doesn't have many chances to eat it but it's the Best Thing Ever every time.
Hated Food: Eggplant, bell peppers, "mealy" foods like oatmeal, cornbread and rice pudding.
School: Horizon Institute for Technology and Science
Hobbies: Martial arts: Dani's parents enrolled her in tae kwon do when she started getting bullied in primary school. The bullying stopped, but Dani kept up with her lessons, enjoying the knowledge of how to defend herself and finding it a useful reason to never get into team sports. About half a year after her brother's disappearance she joined a Brazilian jiu jitsu school, wanting something more "real-world" than forms and controlled spars her TKD school practiced. She's been a member for two years now and goes several times a week.
Sci-fi: Traveling vast distances to alien worlds, limitless possiblities open to you.. Sword-and-sorcery is fantasy, with all the impossibility that implies, but a lot of sci-fi
could be real once the science is figured out and the technology gets there. Star Wars was Dani's first love and she's wanted to be a Jedi since she was six, although she's learned to no longer say this out loud in front of people. Star Trek, The Expanse - if it involves space and futurism, Dani will pick it up. She's active on a few message boards, subscribes to a few online magazines, and follows her favorite creators on social media, but only goes to conventions if the panel topics look really good this year - but usually, her money goes towards something else.
Maker Culture: The more you know, the better. The more you can do for yourself, the better. Dani doesn't have the time or budget to justify monthly fees for one of Destiny City's community maker spaces when she has 24/7 access to HITS and its population of fellow nerds. Soldering, 3D printing, CNC, laser cutters, wearable electronics - Dani wants to learn it all, because it's
there and it's
useful. Creating something out of nothing, gaining
skill - it's compelling to her, and more often than not she'll find a way to work some kind of hardware into her school projects, or come up with something that's not academically related to tinker with.
Spaaaaaace: Not spending time there, sadly. (Yet.) But with SpaceX launches, talk of asteroid mining, and images of new exoplanets in her news feed each week, the infinite worlds and adventure of sci-fi seem tantalizingly just around the corner. The future is here, almost. If she can't be a Jedi, Dani will be an astronaut, or colonize Mars, or work for NASA or one of the private space initiatives. She keeps up to date on space news, reads the abstracts of published papers (and more if she can get past the paywall,) and is part of a local skywatching meetup. One of her treasures is her telescope, a birthday gift from a few years back. Don't touch it. Don't you ever touch it.
Virtues: Driven: Dani's going places. Dani's going to change the world, and she knows this because she'll
make it happen, one way or another. If she has a goal, she'll do everything in her power to achieve it, tackling obstacles from different angles if her first attempts to overcome them didn't work - and that includes encouraging others working with her to not give up, ever, or maybe try this approach? She's a near inexhaustible source of motivation and focus, and while she might back off for a bit, it's only to re-evaluate her approach, unless something is clearly impossible to achieve in some form or another or she loses interest in her target.
Confident: Things will work out.
Curious:Flaws: Self-Centered: Dani thinks of herself first, and views situations primarily through the lens of 'how does this affect me?' It's followed by 'how does this affect people I care about?' but 'how does this affect strangers/casual acquaintances/hypotheticals?' is a distant third in her considerations, if it even manages to make it in. Although she'll consciously clue in to what's going on if it's pointed out to her, she can be oblivious and forgetful about what's going on in other people's lives in favor of her own. Sorry, she didn't see you there. Who are you again? Physics class? Really? Next to her? Oh, yeah yeah! She kinda she remembers you now.
Temperamental: It's not that Dani can be moody or emotionally unpredictable.. she thinks, anyway. What she has is unwillingness to suffer fools gladly, a tenet of self-eliance, a tendency to disregard her emotions when she's in hot pursuit of a goal, and further difficulty communicating them clearly. Combined, this can lean to her seeming suddenly upset to observers, when from her perspective she's followed a logical progression of events. Of
course she's irritated now, she wasn't going to say anything but then [threshold event] happened. This has gotten worse since her brother's disappearance, out of a well-intentioned effort to give her parents fewer things to worry about.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Hair and eye colors cannot change from civilian to powered form, nor can tattoos or piercings. If your character has a tattoo as a civilian it will appear on the powered art, though will have a glamour to prevent people who have seen both from identifying civilian identities. Hairstyles can change between civilian and powered form; only Corrupted Senshi have vastly different hair between civilian and powered forms (their hair grows extensively in length!) Unnatural hair and eye color are perfectly fine, and there is no need to say they use dye or contacts - your character is free to have been born with blue hair if you want. Genetic heterochromia is not allowed, sorry!Eyes: Dark brown, big and round, often intense.
Hair: Dark brown, straight, and thick. Dani keeps it short, cute and layered, somewhere between a bob and a crop but long enough to be tied back when she's at the gym. Sometimes she'll clip back a section.
refFace: Shape, features -- tell us if your character has a round or oval or heart-shaped face, freckles or not, big ears or not.
Clothes: If you are getting student art, your character will be drawn in the school uniform. If you are getting a civilian outfit, this will discuss the general style of your character! The artist reserves the right to not draw complicated outfits, and this will generally be your work clothes if you are older.
