Name: Renose
Age: Seventeen
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual

Craft: Weyrbrat
Rank: Candidate
Location: High Reaches Weyr

Physical Description: Made out of knees and elbows and covered with scars he's gotten from turns of doing Faranth knows what, Renose is a ball of energy and enthusiasm complete with the hair to match. Slightly taller than average, for his age anyway, he has a bit of a head above others (which he uses to make the insufferable jokes of always looking down on them) and the ability to reach that top shelf where maybe someone hid some snacks. Russet-headed and brown-eyed, he doesn't quite consider himself handsome enough to have an adoring fanbase, yet he thinks himself at least attractive enough to wink at whenever he manages to catch his reflection. Having all of his teeth despite an errant fist (or seven) to the face is an added bonus, as is a nose that is straight and "flawless". Renose has a strong jawline that he says makes him look good when he's serious, though it would be better if he didn't have that slight scar on the base of his chin. Maybe it adds character or maybe it looks like he busted himself on the corner or a counter when he was just a brat. The truth is unknown....

As for his physique, turns of living in the only weyr that was prepping for thread has left him strong and toned. Already the sort to keep himself active to prevent atrophy, his muscles are supple but strong, and aside from his candidate routines he finds time to continuously exercise and improve on his condition.

Personality: Renose is....loud, to say it mildly. With charm he knows he has in spades that can either lead to glorious friendships or disastrous haterships, he's always getting himself in and out of trouble on a near daily occurrence. His reputation might precede him, not always in a good way, but Renose very seldom makes any efforts to change what people think about him due in part to, well, not caring. The opinions of others, in his opinion, doesn't matter much in the long run so long as he accomplishes his goals and leaves behind results for everyone to see. (he still wants people to like him, of course, but who is going to admit that out loud? Not Renose, not ever.) Though not quite an "ends justifies the means" type, he isn't above doing what he personally thinks is best (for everyone) to make sure he gets where he needs to go. Goals are something Renose makes and sure, he might detour completely off track for a while, but he will get there and he will do it in his own terms.

He is ambitious in the fact that he isn't willing to settle for less. If there is something better out there, something that he may or may not be able to achieve, Faranth knows he's going to aim for it anyway. Those who are unlucky enough to be around him when he gets an idea or sets out to accomplish something are probably going to be dragged along for better or worse, but isn't an adventure better with friends? Renose knows that when it's all hands on deck things are easier to complete, and it's not like he minds sort of making himself the de-facto leader. Why shouldn't he be? He knows what he's doing after all, so follow along behind or at his side. His extreme self-confidence and pride in knowing who he is and what he wants can easily be read as arrogance, as sometimes it should, but what's wrong with liking who he is? Renose knows people should more faith in themselves (and in him) so what's wrong with trying to show that he can live up to and pass any expectations? Of course, Renose would never admit when he's been wrong, at least...not out loud. Prone to bouts of self-reflection, he keeps his doubts to himself and internalizes them in a manner that probably isn't too healthy for someone. He's eaten plenty of black wherry over the years, to the point he could cough up figurative feathers and make himself a pillow. Or two pillows and entire down blanket, but honestly he would never admit that and no one would ever be the wiser. He uses his outgoing personality to try and cover up any insecurities he has, getting louder when he is nervous versus actually doing something about it. Those who are very close to him, such as family or childhood friends, might know of these moments and be able to read the signs, but Renose is confident enough that he can fake it until he makes it. It's been good so far, so why change things?

In terms of relationships, Renose craves attention and to some degree, affection. He mostly wants acknowledgment from those above him, at least those in power he actively respects (which is not everyone, sadly), and he wants to show the entire Weyr that he is worth something. It's not that he has anything to really prove, as it's clearly obvious he's amazing, but isn't it better if people actually like him? Renose doesn't doubt friendships or the motives of anyone who approaches him, which has lead him to being burned several times but those who use and abuse, but overall he's almost always willing to give anyone a second or third chance. Maybe even a fourth, if he really likes you, and betrayals are almost always forgiven, depending on if you hurt his pride or the physical well being of someone else. That doesn't mean he can't do his own fair share of hurting others, as his teasing can often go farther than he imagined and into downright mocking territory, but hey - maybe his sharp words were meant to inspire or maybe he didn't notice and didn't care. You're still friends with Renose even if he's made you angry, so come back to him any time you wanna talk again.

Most importantly, Renose has a sort of love-hate/hate relationship with those in power. Discontent to watch people flaunt their authority without actually doing anything to back it up, he is unafraid to question their motives and actions when he feels it doesn't suit his needs, which leaves him quite rebellious and ready for change. Those he doesn't respect will always get at least a micro bit of what they deserve, because Renose needs to climb that ladder to fulfill his goals, but don't expect him to go fully out of his way for those he considers dead weight. He doesn't quite agree with the hierarchy of the Weyr and its treatment of riders and dragons based on some old stuff made up by people hundreds of turns ago, but that doesn't mean he won't use those prejudices to his advantage. On the flip side, anyone who Renose deems worth of his respect (a lot more than people think, really) he is eager to please and more than willing to do whatever he can to get the attention of someone worthwhile. While he won't exactly stay entirely in the lines he won't go running off into the sunset, but a little nudge here and there to show off doesn't hurt, right? In the end he will always defer to those in power and above him, but not for long. It doesn't sit well with him to take commands when he could be the one giving them, and his commands would be way cooler, seriously.

Positive Trait List Ambitious, friendly, charismatic, self-confident
Negative Trait List Insensitive, rebellious, borderline arrogant, tactless

History: born and bred in the Weyr to some regular folk who got a little too close during a mating flight, Renose lived a generally uneventful life until he was accepted into candidacy for hatchings. The possibility of being a rider gave the generally wayward youth a goal, a target he knew he could acquire if he worked hard enough (and got lucky, of course), and he approached the task with zeal. Candidacy suited him well, as routines were something he enjoyed knowing they benefited the future, not just the here and now. He thrived in lessons, both mental and physical, and even though he occasionally butted heads with those in command and those he worked beside, Renose generally tried not to cause any problems that would lessen his chances of one day riding in the sky.

After standing for several hatchings that did not result in a lifemate, Renose found himself wondering if his patience was really as good as he thought, or if maybe there was something large coming and he needed to wait a bit. The answer came in the form of Thread, not exactly something that needed to be rejoiced over, but Renose took one look at the event and felt as though the future was looking bright. He'd be needed now, for sure, and so it was only a matter of time before he'd be up there fighting the good fight and showing the Weyr just who he is.

Other: Renose would have a bit of a reputation in high reaches for being a troublemaker, but not in the sort where it's...all there is about him? And the trouble isn't actual damages or literal trouble, just he's...a hot head. Just that people know he causes drama (good and bad I promise!) where he goes...? If not okay, please let me know! Also if anyone...wants to be a friend? He needs a friend. And a crush.
