The training fields were rapidly becoming his stress relief.

He was here now, dressed in a pair of well fitted, ripped black jeans with neon colored paint spatters artfully across one leg and several black and green tanktops layered atop one another, all of them deliberately torn and ripped around the hemline, the top most one less a tank top and more an open sleeveless vest that came down to his upper thighs. It was chilly outside, but he'd taken off his jacket, the whip coiled somewhere around his feet as he stared mutinously at the training dummy ahead of him.

Nash twisted the whip, then slammed it out, hearing the metal clank against the side of the dummy with a satisfying thwap.

The training field was Peyton's usual stomping grounds, had been ever since she'd been a trainee, but these days it was less about pure desire and more about duty. She made it a point to make herself available to anyone that might want or need a sparring partner or a bit of personal training, either on or off the field.

She wasn't a combat training specialist for no reason, after all.

So of course she was there today, making her usual rounds along the wide path that circled the field and the dummies. Upper body mostly bar save for a sports bra and a tank top, but her usual jogging shorts had been traded in for a pair of athletic leggings that ended at mid calf. When she spotted Nash facing off against one of the dummies, impressive (though a bit impractical and cumbersome?) whip coiled at his feet, she slowed to a stop to watch him for a long moment.

Then, without bothering to speak up, because anything she could have said to him could have been taken as condescending or worse, she'd issue challenge by way of throwing one of her daggers at the dummy he was currently using, the blade striking the wood of the head with a loud, solid thunk.

<Far be it for me judge, but I dare say you're letting your anger get the best of you. Again.> Not that Warrick sounded upset about it, being a wrath demon. He appreciated his partner's temper quite a bit.

You can ******** right off.

He just laughed, deep and rumbling through the back of her head.

Nash's day had started off with the unpleasant reminders that: a) Lawrence still existed in this world and still made everything shittier; and b) he still hadn't gotten the hang of his damn whip, which was simultaneously too large and too cumbersome to wield properly, and therefore was making things worse, rather than better.

He did not appreciate losing.

Or rather, he didn't mind losing - he minded the losing when he was entirely capable of not losing, minded the fact that he was still a ******** trainee and that he had little to no chance of soundly kicking Lawrence's a** unless he was promoted. And he couldn't do that unless he practiced.

Which was working only because he was imagining the training dummy to be Lawrence's head.

The dagger came out of nowhere, Nash twisting instinctively to avoid it, although it had struck the dummy meaningfully in the head, which was likely where it had been meant to be thrown. Without even hesitating, he spun around, the coiled whip unfurling like a snake, metal snapping as it whistled through the air.

A small figure with blonde hair was standing a short distance behind him. Nash felt his mood tank even further.

"Oh," he said sarcastically, and reeled the whip back in, segments clanking together noisily. "If it isn't Little Miss Know It All from Twitter. Fancy meeting you here. Come to spy on my training session? It's not that exciting, I promise."

Even expecting some form of reaction, Peyton still couldn't guard against the whole of that bulky whip, especially with only one dagger, and she took the brunt of it across the forearms and chest, toes digging into the dirt to keep from sliding back too far. A heavy hit, but she suspected it had more to do with luck than skill.

She straightened, and a cool little smile slid along her lips as her head tilted to one side. "Spy? No, what would be the point? You aren't that impressive. Yet." He could be, if he could master that beast of a whip. "It's my job to be here, and you looked like you could use a sparring partner, rather than a dummy."

Nothing really compared to the quick thinking, quick acting nature of an actual opponent. The dummies were nice for standard target practice, but at a certain point she felt that everyone outgrew them, especially with a near endless source of sparring partners on the island.

And with that in mind, the petite Sun took off, charging towards trainee with her one dagger up and at the ready to make a fierce slash at his arm as she slipped past, ripping the other dagger free of the dummy as she reached it and turning on her heel for a second, less precise swing at his hip.

He really did not want to deal with this.

He'd never met Peyton in the flesh before, and really didn't want to. Nash had had enough s**t happening already; it was bad enough that he had to deal with everything else, he didn't need more of this - whatever this was, because it was frustrating as ******** hadn't waited for him to recover, which Nash hadn't expected, since he'd already thrown the first punch - technically. Her fist crashed into his hip and sent him reeling sideways, Nash's feet sliding on the grass, Acheri rattling with a hiss inside of his head, displeasure radiating.

"It's your job to be a nosy know-it-all?" Nash asked, lifting an airy brow as he straightened. "Are you sure you're not here for any other reason?"

His swing only barely grazed Peyton this time, but he hadn't actually been trying that hard.

Peyton scoffed at him as she jerked away from the oversized whip that slithered against her shield. Too large, she thought. Hard to maneuver, slow to wield. She preferred her daggers, and the speed they allowed her her. Hell, she'd liked Warrick when he was just a pair of knuckledusters with spikes on the ends.

"You call me a know-it-all, when you seem to have everything figured out?" It came with an amused snort. "Look who's talking."

It was fairly easy for her to not take the trainee seriously. He was emotional, intentionally obnoxious at the best of times, and dismissive. It didn't present a very endearing impression, and didn't leave her feeling particularly worried over his opinion of her.

With a quick burst of speed, the petite Sun rushed in again, swiping at the taller trainee with the curve of a blade aimed at his torso, carving into his shield. "I'm a combat trainer, I roam the training fields. What other reason do I need to be out here?"

The damn whip and its damn cumbersome size was making it difficult to even maneuver properly. Acheri rattled around in Nash's head, voice a low, hoarse drawl that possibly was telling him to do something or maybe talking about how useless he was; whatever the case, Nash wasn't paying attention.

She was a vicious little thing, but it didn't really make her impressive, only annoying; like a gnat that he wanted to swat away that kept buzzing around his head the way that she buzzed around Twitter looking for places to stick her nose in.

Nash shrugged a shoulder, even as he was shoved sideways in a brutal push that sent him careening down onto the ground, dragging lines in the dirt.

"Dunno. Maybe to waggle your tongue at me with something about how I should 'learn my place' or 'respect my elders' or some s**t like that?'"

The whip snaked out, biting at Peyton's ankle.
