It had been long enough that she would be more than able to tell, and she had figured that things had moved in the direction that they had wanted them too...the test proved it, and Raven was utterly and blissfully happy with the news and now she just had to tell Jett.
She had once again pawned Chloe off with her parents and was standing outside of the Antique shop, rocking back on her heels just slightly, drawing in a deep breath.
They had wanted this. Planned for it.
So why was she so nervous to tell him this time? It didn’t make a lick of sense.
Quickly she pushed the door open and walked purposefully to the back where her fiance sat looking at who even knew what. “Hey. I think...you and I should talk. Do you have a minute or two. Or six, even?”
Obviously it was important. It took a lot for Raven to come and bug Jett at work...but this news was more than worth it, at least she thought so.

Jett was sitting at a table in back, poring over some book with faded pages. There were two images, hand painted with intricate detailing on the pages that he was looking at now. Jett was handling the book with extreme delicacy and it was easy to tell that it was probably worth something. Someone had spent a lot of time to create the artwork in the book; it looked like it was original, one of a kind. And yet, when Raven came into the room, his attention shifted to her entirely. “I’ve got at least six minutes for you. Maybe even seven.” There was an empty chair next to him and he pulled it out and gestured for her to take a seat. Talks were usually bad, but Raven looked so alive. He had been wearing his reading glasses; he removed them from his face, folded them up, and laid them on the table before he smiled up at Raven. “What’s on your mind?”

“Oh, you’d be kind enough to spare a whole seven minutes for me? I’m utterly honored, Jett.” Raven grinned once again, moving over and sitting in the chair he offered her. She was quiet for a moment, and then reached out and took his hand. “I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow, and I’d really like for you to be there with me. I know it’s short notice, but I’ve done three at home tests and all of them say that I’m pregnant so…I just you know. Want a professional opinion and to start getting the ball rolling.”
She looked at him, hoping for the reaction that she had, hoping that he’d be as excited as she was…because if he wasn’t…that wouldn’t be a good thing for her at all.
“Surprise!” Raven’s eyes were sparkling with delight and perhaps a little mischief. “You’re going to be twice the father you are now in a few months. I hope that makes you as happy as it makes me, love. Because…I’m really excited.”

For a few seconds, Jett didn’t react, but it was clear that he was taking it all in and processing it. Raven wasn’t the sort to play a prank like this on him, and she looked so damned happy that he couldn’t imagine she was just making this up for the hell of it.
So, a grin split across his face and his eyes lit up. He didn’t stay seated; he pushed himself up, scooped Raven up, and kissed her as deeply as he could manage. “I’ll be there. I’ll be at every one of them, we’ve done this before. I’ll hire someone else to work here so I can take off and be there when you need me. Can you reschedule? We should go today, I can leave right now.”
He wasn’t being sarcastic, he wasn’t joking. He wanted to go now, and if he had to wait, fine, but he wanted confirmation. He wanted to know if they needed to start looking for somewhere bigger to live, to start shopping for baby things, to start preparing for a larger family. To start planning how they would tell their parents, and Chloe.

Raven had to admit that for a moment she was almost afraid that Jett was upset by the news, and then he grinned and she felt her heart absolutely melting. When he lifted her, she let out a laugh, returning the kiss with gusto, locking her arms around his neck and just…feeling happy. Happier than she had in a while…though, that wasn’t to say she had been unhappy lately, just that…this was…
Utter perfection..
“I tried to get an appointment today, but they were all booked, just take tomorrow off, okay? We can leave Chloe with your mom and tell her after we get home, I just…Jett I’m so excited. I don’t even have words to really convey how happy I am right now, but I feel like…everything is just…perfect.”
They would be married soon. Their family would be growing soon…nothing could go wrong. Nothing at all…at least, she knew that Jett wouldn’t let anything go wrong, and she sure wouldn’t either…so…
“I figure, telling your mom first will make her the happiest that she can be…and I shouldn’t be showing too much at the wedding, I hope…but…I don’t care if I am. I’m marrying you next month, end of story. Nothing can or will stop us. We’ve been waiting too long already.”

Jett shook his head. “No arguments there, it’s a done deal. We can get wedding pictures done this month if you need to, I’m sure you’ve got some photography friends. We’ll just do a private shoot or something in case you’re growing twins or something in there and start showing by next month. You’ll be beautiful no matter what, though. No matter what you’re wearing, no matter what you’re showing. I’ll call someone in tomorrow. Or, I’ll just close tomorrow, I don’t care. I’m three weeks from owning this place officially, and if the storefront’s gotta close for a day, fine. The online website’s getting more traffic than the store usually does and I can run things from my phone if I need to.”
His big projects; he’d been working on utilizing the internet to grow and improve business and so far their sales had nearly tripled. Things were still new and in trial stage, but he kept a busy schedule and things were finally coming together. The back room was full of things waiting to be packed and shipped—or delivered—to their customers, and they had two storage units full of things that hadn’t even been listed yet. He was looking into a warehouse and a delivery truck—expenses for things they could finally afford.
But, he was happiest when he was busy, and when things were lining up like they were he couldn’t help but be excited—especially with Raven’s news.
“We’ll need a new place,” he insisted. He’d been complaining about their current residence, mostly because of annoying neighbors, and with a lease due in a few months it seemed like the perfect time to start shopping around. “A real one, not an apartment. A house. A home. Three bedrooms at least. Near work, near school. Near mom, because if it’s not you know we’ll never year the end of it from her or Chloe.”
The cogs in his mind were twisting; he always got that way when he was excited. He couldn’t just look at the small picture; he had to start considering everything. He wanted to be ready.
He wanted everything to be perfect.

Raven didn’t have words for a moment…his suggestion to get the wedding pictures done now…it was so utterly thoughtful that it nearly took her breath away. “I think…I think that all sounds amazing…but the wedding photos…that…Jett.” She kissed him again, with more passion than she thought she could have mustered, and a laugh escaped her again. “This…can you take the rest of the day off and close the shop tomorrow? I want to get started. I think that we should go and start house shopping and, oh my God Jett, this is…this is the best.”
She nuzzled closer and nodded. “Your mom and my parents are going to flip…everything…everything’s just so perfect now…thank you.”
Her voice softened and Raven swallowed hard. “Seriously. Thank you for putting up with me for all of these years…I know it’s been a bumpy ride at times, and I know I’m a little…crazy sometimes…but I like to think that it’s all been worth it. That you think we’re worth it…obviously you do, but just…Thank you. I love you more than anything, our family…is just…utterly perfect, and I don’t even mind being Raven Draven…I think it’s fine. I’m fine with it.”
She shrugged. “I mean, it’s up to you, but Draymore or Draven, so long as I’m your wife, I’m happy.”

Jett laughed again and drew her closer. “I think ‘Draymore’ will drive you a little less crazy. If you give me fifteen minutes, I can close up the shop. Have you had lunch yet? We can grab a bite if you haven’t already. If you’ve eaten, well.”
He was quiet for a second and then confessed, “Then I need to stop anyway. I have a feeling today, and then next few days are going to be busy, and I want to enjoy going on dates with you for as long as I can.”
Going on dates hadn’t been easy when Chloe first came along; she was needy and always wanted to be the center of their world—and she was, but sometimes it was nice to get away. Even now, they bummed her off on their parents when they wanted an escape, but it wasn’t going to be long before the pregnancy cravings started to set in, and if Jett had the opportunity to, he wanted to enjoy normal meals for as long as he could.
He reached over and gave her hand a squeeze before he raised it to his lips and kissed the back of it.
“I love you, Raven. No matter how crazy you can be, you’re worth it, and I wouldn’t change a thing about you or us.”

“I haven’t eaten. It was part of my master plan to get you to buy us lunch, don’t you know that I always have a plan, Jett.” Raven couldn’t hide the glee in her voice from his agreement for changing their name to the merger of the two…it honestly did make her feel better about everything. He was very good at that.
“Dates sound fantastic to me…we’ll get through this. We can get through anything, and I love you too, more than anyone and anything else in the world…so…I’ll go and wait for you. Do you need any help closing up?”
The faster they could get out of here…the faster they could eat and start really planning more for the future…and she wanted that. She wanted that badly. Because a future with Jett meant a future with happiness. The best kind of happiness.
Her happiness.
