It simply means whatever 'huh', 'wow' or/and 'what..?'
That is my view, from what I've read and seen the timing of 'oro' being said. I do believe it is correct.

Just something you can say if you're overwhelmed of just "aaah" or something of the nature. You just go "Oro!" xD I laugh everytime my Spanish teacher says it means gold. Kenshin is one greedy person on the inside xDD "gold gold gold!"

yay for "oro"! it totally makes up who rurouni kenshin is. i love it how they say it in the japanese anime, because he says it really fast like "ororororororo" oro probably means something along the lines of what? huh? or ahh!

Oro Defined
o-ro (oro) interj. (1) I am surprised; (2) I am in pain. Derivative forms may be built either by adding the syllable -ro, as many times as necessary, to the end; or by extending the vowels.
Examples:
ororo ---I am very surprised; I am in a lot of pain.
orororo -I am in shock; I think I have a concussion
ooororooo -Shock doesn't begin to cover it; Really, now might be a good time to fetch the doctor.
