Considering Peyton had been worried about Lawr and the notice for a spar, Melvin decided to ask Peyton for one as well. He didn't have the same spiteful hatred for the woman he had in the past and he was curious about the results of her and Lawr's fight. They had a few serious talks in the 1 year island that he felt tentative but okay enough to ask her for a spar without feeling roo uncomfortable.
He'd have to update her on his weapon as well.
Waiting on a bench on the fields, he rose up when he spotted the woman, Babel the fish glimmering in the sun over his head.

Peyton had walked away from her fight with Lawrence relatively unscathed. There were bruises on her shoulders that looked like someone had grabbed her there and squeezed, but had actually come from the blades of those wicked gauntlets. More decorated her sides and chest, but they were hidden under the tank top hanging loosely off her upper body. A pair of shorts hugged her hips, and long hair had all been drawn back into a neat French braid. The request had been a little surprising, considering their past, but after their talks on the island, not unwelcome. If he needed help, she was happy to provide it. A hand raised in greeting, age flashed him a smile. "Welcome back to Avalon."

"Thanks. Nice to see that again." He said, pointing up to the sun above them.
As she approached, he noticed she looked relatively unharmed. Nowhere near as damaged as when he had seen Lawr before. "Been a while. Glad you came. Wasn't sure if you'd be busy or not or....suspicious after Lawr dmed you."
"I need help with something, if you are comfortable with that. I have a weapon I need to try out. Nothing that will hurt you any more than our weapons. It just - hits harder than mine. Is that okay?"

Mention of the sun left her grinning at him, and she'd nod in agreement. "Me too. Remind me never to complain about it being too sunny ever again." The month of storming had proven definitively that it could definitely be worse. Her head tipped curiously at him for a moment, expression thoughtful. "Him dming me doesn't have anything to do with you." At least she didn't think it did. "But whatever you need help with, I'm game." She glanced down at the weapon in his hand, eyeing it with open curiosity, before the golden fish was finally given the attention it deserved. "So...?" Stepping closer, she pointed up at it. "Who's that?"

"It would have lasted a lot longer if everyone hadn't helped out." And he was glad and proud of hiw everyone had come together.
Melvin stared and then looked up before he realized what Peyton was referring to. "Oh! That's Babel."
"Babel. Come here." He said and opened his palms for the fish to swim down to him and rest in his hands. "Atlantis trusted it to my care and is letting it watch over me while I work. It's.... been kinda nice having it around. Sadly I can't let people touch it. It gets testy." He pointed out because who wouldn't want to touch a golden, magic, fish.
He lifted his hands up and Babel swam back up overhead. Taking the rod from where he tucked it under one arm, he smiled. "I asked you out here cause I need help getting sine charges. Are you okay with that? I don't mind if you hit my face if that sweetens the pot for you." He joked.

"What's it...do?" She'd moved forward a few steps to see it better, features lighting up a little. Peyton had always really liked gold fish, and this was a very good fish. She stepped back though as Melvin explained what he needed. "So just like a normal spar, right? You're gunna whack at me, and I get to do whatever." Seemed fair enough, and the Sun grinned as she summoned her weapons. It didn't matter what the weapon did, the wards would keep her from getting too hurt anyways.

"Well, it makes sure I'm safe and that I don't like - pawn this off." He said, showing the rod in his hand. "But I like to think it stays around to enjoy my witty banter." He joked.
"Yeah, same rules as a spar. Everything free game. Everything as rough and as much free to punch as we used to fight." Before they started trying to be civil to one another. "Just call it if you feel you've reached your limit. I know we have wards but, I don't want to go overboard if you aren't into that."
Pressing on the rod, the blade shot out to reveal it as a sword, and he took a stance.

Peyton snorted softly, but she was smiling as she watched the little golden fish. If no one else thought it was adorable, she certainly did. But it was time to get down to business. Melvin had given her the green light to make the first move, and she was fine with that. This wasn't a fight for pride's sake, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to try to win it. "Here we go," she mused, grinning at him as she darted forward. Feinting to the side at the very last instant, the petite Sun twisted, both arms coming around to drive the curved points of both blades deep into the Life hunter's sides. HP: 60 DMG: 12 CHG: 1/3

Peyton didn't play around, and as a Sun, she didn't hold her punches. Even when she argued, she was often tenacious and tended to not let go of a bone once she had it. A fight with her would be just that, and he tensed as she moved at him, rushing in to throw a punch right into his side and throwing him back and stumbling before he could right himself, sides singing from the blunt force.
"You punch brick walls for fun?" He asked, before he moved in to slash with the sword.
"What have you been up to?" HP: 48/60 Dmg: 11

That sword stung, considerably more than Peyton had been expecting, abd the shock of it had her retaliating swipe falling short. Followed immediately by an unmistakable sound of frustration veggie she asked it down to answer him. "Walls don't put up much of a fight." It came with a smile that was a little wild. "You know me, its just not fun if no one walks away bruised or bleeding." She was being considerably more candid than she was normally wont to be, but Melvin was familiar with the demons she kept leashed and out of the light. "And I haven't been up to much. The usual, training, spars." She shrugged. "You? Aside from being an ambassador for the deep." HP: 49 DMG: - CHG: 1/3

"That has taken much of my time. Getting back to it, it almost makes you dizzy. I hired someone to help me with work. Sent in the request for the construction of the house. With everything going on, I'm surprised I feel like I'm pent up." He honestly admitted.
He moved in to swipe at her again, glancing at her smile.
"You ever fight out on leave? Just away from all the wards and prying eyes?" He asked. HP: 48/60 Dmg: 13

"Oh, a new house. That's pretty exciting." It sounded like Melvin's life had been going pretty much non stop lately. Busy being an understatement. All good things, she hoped. Melvin deserved better than he'd gotten up to this point. He came in with the sword again, and the bite of the blade pulled a startled, pain cry from the petite hunter, but she moved through it, turning to keep him close as she brought the daggers up. Her lips pursed at the question, and she took a moment to think about it, darting in to take another swipe at him. "Yes and no. I've fought outside the wards quite a few times, but never off island, never with a civilian." She didn't trust herself not to seriously hurt someone that wasn't a hunter. HP: 36 DMG: 5 CHG: 2/3

"Exciting." He repeated, having not really felt it was exciting. It had been a goal. A set destination to some place he still wasn't sure of but had been lead to believe would provide him stability and happiness. To get better somehow.
"More...unsure of what I'm even doing."
But to things away from that.
"Who did you fight outside the wards?" He barely managed a hit.

"You're smart, Melvin. And very capable." She jerked at the hit, which took a little of the sting from it. "I'm sure you'll be fine." As for his question, Peyton wasn't entirely sure how truthfully she wanted to answer that. It had been quite a while since the last time she'd been brawling outside the wards, and the last two times hadn't been planned, and hadn't exactly ended well. Or rather, one hadn't. She supposed, all things considered, her fight with Melvin in own could have been worst. She moved in for another quick strike, giving herself time to decide how she wanted to answer. Daggers sinking deeply into Melvin's shield at his side. "Well," she hopped on one foot as she drew away from him and lifted her hands defensively again. "There was you, that one time, and then Finn, and Jack." More Jack than anyone else. It was his handy work on her ribs; his initial. HP: 32 DMG: 9 CHG: 3/3
