Daijur would have liked to say that he had come to this pride of his own choosing, that he had heard of them and chosen to prove his worth somewhere that he might put his birthright to use. He would have liked to but even he could not deny the truth - he really just wanted to find that lioness again and prove to her that he was truly the better fighter. The better lion. The best.

It was with silence that he approached the boarders of the pride, though he stopped the moment he realized he had found their lands. The scent markers were strong, as they aught to have been for such a group as the Stormborn. He wasn't certain if there was anyone that would answer his call - he saw no one but that did not mean a thing among lions.

With both front paws planted squarely, he tipped his jaws back and roared. The sound echoed through the still morning air and carried off into the distance. If he was lucky he would find someone willing to accept his challenge - if not, well, he had to hope he was quicker than whatever threat might come.

A few minutes passed with no immediate response to the roar, almost as if Daijur's voice had silenced all around him. The calm before the storm, one could call it. But, in the distance the bulk of a green lion approached, his stride confident - he had nothing to be concerned about. The rogues who came here always seemed to know the rules of the challenge. That, and he had his entire pride to back him up.

"So, you would be forged in the storm?" It was a formal greeting, too formal for a lion like Domeykite, who immediately cracked a grin. "Cool." He shrugged the green fur pelt off from around his shoulders and kicked it to the side. Domeykite had accepted little to none of these challenges. Usually there was another reaver in the area to take care of these things. Someone who was more experienced than the green lion. Was it fortunate for Daijur to come across a lion who had so little viking experience?

Domeykite certainly didn't think so. "The rules are simple, we fight until either you yield or I do. There is no killing, and if you lose you are free to go." It was a sign of respect for the challenge - the Stormborn did not shun those who wanted to prove themselves. If they were weak, they only had to get strong and try again.

"Fair enough," came his short response. The rules seemed honorable and the other male seemed likable enough considering that they were about to engage in one-on-one bloodsport. Without another moment's hesitation, he followed the male's lead and pulled the string of his cloak with his teeth, letting it slip and fall unceremoniously to the ground behind him.

"Let's get on with this, then."

There was no reason to dance around talking about it when the purpose was to prove his worth. He set his shoulders, hunched, and took a running leap at the other male. One paw swiped out and aimed for his shoulders, trying to knock him off balance or, at the very least, cause him to fumble a counter-attack. It was always hard to land the first blow but Daijur at least had experience.

Domeykite could appreciate the no-nonsense attitude of the lion. It wasn't his sort of thing, but considering the serious nature of the challenge, he could play along with it. The green lion smirked as Daijur shed his cape - great lions thought alike. Perfectly fashionable, and easily discarded when unnecessary.

It really was such a shame that he'd have to beat the crap out of him and send Daijur back to wherever he had come from.

Domeykite crouched low to the ground, and using his back legs as springs, he made a powerful launch forward to meet Daijur's blow. It wasn't the most brilliant approach, but he was counting on momentum and strength to carry him through his actions. Inexperience was Domeykite's main hindrance. He had recently been promoted, and had only been on a couple of vikings. Sparring with other lions was one thing, where they held back to keep from injuring each other too much. This was completely different.

He met Daijur's blow a little too hard, and while Domeykite didn't completely lose his balance, he stumbled to the side. The lion growled with irritation, more at himself than at his opponent. Crap. He knew better than that.

Recovering quickly, he twisted around to aim a swipe at Daijur's face. Yeah, he wasn't going to maim him, but that didn't mean he was going to hold back.

It was his own foolish fail at foresight that put him within the dusky lion's reach. He took a full blow of a paw to his face though, for a wonder, he felt little of the tips of claws as they glanced off of his dark fur. The dark rogue growled in answer, wincing around the blow and shuffling backward out of fear of losing an eye.

It was only a mere few seconds before he sprung forward again, however, as Daijur did not seem overly keen on losing the advantage of momentum and surprise that he carried. Instead of an open blow, this time he charged forward and reared, aiming to grapple the other male around the neck and drag him down to the dark soil beneath them.

There was a fierce glimmer in his eyes, focused and intent upon his purpose. He was not a lion accustomed to loss. He would not lose.

Daijur's reflexes were good. While Domeykite had taken Daijur seriously from the moment he answered the challenge, he still didn't expect the rogue to be so determined. Any time he usually hit someone across the face, they took even a few seconds to recover. Scars or blinding weren't the issue - Stormborn came to accept that risk. It was usually irritation at letting someone land such a cheap blow that gave Domeykite an opening to land another.

But, it was Daijur pushing the advantage now. Domeykite found himself in the position of reaction despite landing the latest blow. It wasn't a good place to be. Daijur had momentum and strength, and while Domeykite pressed forward to meet the charge he lost his advantage.

He snarled as Daijur wrestled him down onto the ground from pure strength alone. This was bad - and Domeykite refused to give in here. He wasn't going to lose in the first few seconds of this stupid brawl. His reaver band would never let him live it down. Mustering his strength, he aimed to drive his shoulder into Daijur's side. He had to do something to get this lion to loosen his grip on him.

The blow struck him hard in the ribs and Daijur, though he knew he clearly had the upper paw, had no choice but to back peddle and release his high ground so that he could regain the bit of breath the murky lion had knocked out of him. He sucked sharp between his teeth and took a few paces back as he waited for Domeykite to struggle back up to his feet. His eyes never left him, though, never stopped looking for another in.

The darker rogue hunched down low and began to circle his opponent slowly, looking for all the world like a predator on a hunt. Lions were different prey than deer but not by much - the only difference was that they rarely ran away from their aggressors. That suited him just fine since he wasn't a male accustomed to speed.

It was only a matter of seconds that it took his breath to correct itself, though his ribs still stung something fierce from the blow. He had to hope that Domeykite was still disoriented enough to give himself the advantage. While he struggled back up to his feet, Daijur was looking for another in. He knew how to take advantage of situations and he felt no shame in it. The second that Domey was back on his paws saw him diving in again, aiming a deft strike for a front leg in hopes that he could knock him back down again.

Domeykite staggered back onto his feet, though it was clearly a bit of a struggle. He hated to think that he was outmatched, but Daijur was a strong lion. It was evident now that perhaps the dark lion deserved a place within the pride. If he let the fight continue much further he really would suffer a humiliating defeat. Thank the storm lords that none of the other pride members were here to see him losing this challenge.

He had barely recovered from the last blow when Daijur was charging in for another. Domeykite simply did not have enough time to react to the attack. Daijur caught his front leg, and in Domeykite's attempt to balance himself he ended up only falling forward. For a moment he was awkwardly bowing to Daijur, but he considered a step up from falling flat onto his face.

Enough was enough.

"I yield," he announced as he straightened himself back up. The green lion stepped back, his chest heaving as he tried to get some air back into his longs. "Welcome to the Myrsky Syntynyt."

Then, less formally. "I'm Domeykite. You'll have to come with me so I can have you acknowledged by the lawspeakers. And if you want I can show you around." Maybe friendship would buy Daijur's silence.

For a wonder, Daijur halted his advance the moment those two words passed Domeykite's jowls. It was a test of his control, certainly, but he stepped back and gave the conceding lion his space so that he might bring himself back to a stand without further hindrance. He'd gotten what he wanted, after all.

A smug smirk pulled at the corner of his mug and he bowed his head in acknowledgement of the other male's skill.

"I have fought easier battles, certainly. Thank you." Then, as he picked his head up, he let the smugness fade. There was no point in gloating now - especially if it meant securing a single friend on the inside of the pride. He had his doubts that the blue-marked lioness was going to be very pleased with his presence. At least, he hoped she wasn't.

"I am Daijur and I'd like that very much, actually. I know very little about your pride-" he paused and corrected himself "our pride beyond the initiation."

"I am glad I gave you some challenge." If it had been an effortless victory for Daijur, Domeykite would have kicked himself out of his own pride. The dark green lion walked back to where he had shrugged off his pelt. Picking it up with his teeth, he flung it back over his shoulders. Clearly, he had practiced.

"Then allow me to give you the grand tour!" he smirked back at the other male. He felt like Daijur would fit in easily, and would soon come to realize how much fun this pride was. Maybe he would aim to be a reaver, where the only rules one had to follow was what the captain laid out. Domeykite wouldn't be in a pride he couldn't have fun in. His sort of fun usually came at the expense of others', but no one in the pride would begrudge him his amusements.

He lifted a paw and pointed in the direction of the general 'hang out' of the pride. "This way, then." Turning around, he led Daijur into the heart of the large lion's new home.
