Quote:
Lighthouse Sentry Duty:
* E class difficulty (anyone)
* Hunters must watch over the Lighthouse outpost, and spot for any potential signs of Fear-infested life close to the portal connecting to Halloween.
* 1 mission reward point for completing this successfully

Quote:
Guard: Only the top of the lighthouse is accessible, and the room is pretty bare except for a small table and bookshelf. The view, however, in one of the best on the island, and a perfect spot for ranged hunters to keep an eye out for flyers. There are no visible booby traps in the room, but those guarding the location are given a special emergency portal code to use only when and enemy has invaded the room.

Those curious about as to why the rest of the lighthouse is unusable may open the chamber door. Looking down they'll see what remains of the stone steps floating in mid air, slowly circling inside the tower. A parting gift and reminder.

Kim sighed. She was put on guard duty. It made sense, actually. She was put on simple duty. Simple seemed to equate boring in this case. She mumbled a little and sat down at the dull wood desk. There seemed to be just that table, not desk really, but just table, and a book shelf. She picked up a book and started reading it, making sure to look out the windows a lot. Her whip wasn't the best of ranged weapons but seemed up to doing the job if she needed it to.

She had also been given a code. It took a bit of reading for her to understand why it was needed. Apparently if there was an attack. Big huge fuzzy IF, then she could use the code to bring in another hunter, or open a gate.

She mumbled lightly, sitting down, putting her feet up, reading more of the book in her hand. It was kind of interesting, apparently a guide about how one should react in the case of a fear induced illness or infection. She frowned a little and wondered why she hadn't read this before. Then again, she wasn't all that big on reading anything that didn't have pictures or a good plot.

Again from time to time she found herself getting up and pacing around the room. She was still doing her duties, and was bored to see nothing was going on around the portal to Halloween, just air, and normal birds that were circling.

She sat on a window sill reading more, peering out between paragraphs. There seemed to be more chances of one getting a strange fear illness than she had thought, but most seemed to clear up fast as long as their weapons were around. Life labs had controlled most of the issues and turned the mass of them into nothing more than a historical record. It was a good thing or else there would be a harder time hunting.

She yawned a little and then put the book down, surprised at how much she had read. There seemed to have issues that had lingering effects. She noticed a few blank pages in the back and added a section on Anti-aging effects. Apparently there had been that to worry about too, and it could still happen.

She then paced around the room again, wondering how long she was going to be here. She assumed they would relieve her before too long, since this is a solo posting and most will be bored out of their mind unless they bring a friend.

Heading over to the book shelf she checked to see what else was in there. There seemed to be books that talked about past hunts, and even just notes that people left for their friends who would be coming later, which amused her. She read some of them, catching up on some past details of people she had no idea about. Most were not even signed with real names but with what she assumed were codes between the writers. Talk of past hunts, things they had seen from the tower or just jokes and bad puns. It amused her, all hunters were after all just normal people with problems and boredom like her, most seemed to handle it better, which was a reason she was going to have to teach herself to break habits that can hurt others.

In the back of that book, on a blank page she started to just write out.

"I was here too, it was a dull watch, nothing going on. I read a few of the books here and then came across this one. Figured I would just write here about how I am inspired by some of these things. I want to be a better person. Thanks all of you for taking time and watching out for us."

This done she noticed that her shift was finally done and she was able to head back home. Time to clean room and relax.
